What is a boot camp class?

Fitness boot camps are a heart-pounding way to boost your fitness level. Boot camps are led by a fitness instructor and are based on the concept of military boot camps — intensive workout programs to get new recruits into shape, quickly. Fitness boot camps encourage camaraderie, and the group momentum helps participants get through fast-paced intervals of cardio, isometric training, strength training and endurance drills. How much is a boot camp?

Smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living typically have lower rates for boot camp services than big cities and regions with a higher cost of living. If you’re paying per class on a drop-in basis, expect to pay anywhere from $12 to $25 or more, depending on the region and the instructor. When you purchase a package of classes, typically the more you buy at one time, the cheaper each class is. The same boot camp class might be $20 for a drop-in student, $15 for a student who pays for 10 classes per month, and $10 for a student who pays for 30 classes a month. I have been visiting Edge for personal training/ group classes for about the last 6 months. I highly recommend the gym for those looking to train with individualized support and attention. The gym has clients that have been training with the owner, Daniel, over the years, giving it a more personal feel. Conveniently located right outside of Uptown, Edge Fitness has an open floor plan (think former warehouse space), with all the equipment neatly laid out (weights, cardio, boxing etc). Classes and personal training sessions push you, regardless of your fitness level. Tip: Purchasing training classes also gives you access to gym facilities outside of your training sessions.

Erik is super professional, on time, quick to respond. He will give you his thought process on fitness and wellness, but ultimately allows you to do what you feel comfortable with. Erik is also just a really nice guy and is cheerful and alert when we meet, pushes me enough without being too harsh; and gives just the right of enthusiasm to keep me moving. I also likes that he is organized and has a general idea of what we are going to do before we start (he keeps up with my progress in a little book too.) 100% the most attention to detail that I have seen with a personal trainer with regards to form and even takes the time to stretch you out and warm up cool down with appropriate cardio without feeling like the majority of the work out was cardio. He respects my time and money and ensures we utilize the full hour we are with which I can appreciate! You will find trainers who offer lots and deliver little.. but Erik is the real deal :) I'm very happy with his training and can even see us becoming friends outside the gym which is always a plus! I hesitate to rave too much about him because I don't want to share him with too many people 0:) but he certainly deserves the business & success!
