What is a boot camp class?

Fitness boot camps are a heart-pounding way to boost your fitness level. Boot camps are led by a fitness instructor and are based on the concept of military boot camps — intensive workout programs to get new recruits into shape, quickly. Fitness boot camps encourage camaraderie, and the group momentum helps participants get through fast-paced intervals of cardio, isometric training, strength training and endurance drills. Classes may range anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, and usually meet multiple days per week. Boot camps often run a specific duration of time, say four to six weeks, which creates a team-like environment for class members. Other boot camps run year-round and students purchase package pricing for classes, similar to subscriptions that allow them a set amount of classes per week or per month.

Boot camps can be held indoors at a gym, outdoors in a park or on a beach, in a backyard — anywhere there’s room for running, jumping and sweating. How much is a boot camp?

The cost of fitness boot camps depends on how often you go, the package you are purchasing (or if you are paying a drop-in fee), the location of the bootcamp, the equipment the instructors provide, and the background and reputation of the instructor. Smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living typically have lower rates for boot camp services than big cities and regions with a higher cost of living. If you’re paying per class on a drop-in basis, expect to pay anywhere from $12 to $25 or more, depending on the region and the instructor. When you purchase a package of classes, typically the more you buy at one time, the cheaper each class is. The same boot camp class might be $20 for a drop-in student, $15 for a student who pays for 10 classes per month, and $10 for a student who pays for 30 classes a month. Studio space can also affect costs, so if your boot camp takes place in a high-end gym with top-of-the-line equipment, the prices will likely be higher than a class that meets in an outdoor space with limited or no equipment. I have been working out with Alex for about 10 weeks now. He is extremely knowledgeable and always pushes you to perform at your best. His workouts are challenging and he will set you up with new exercises every time. He is punctual and keeps the workout fun. I highly recommend him as a personal trainer.

Charles has been my trainer since September 2017, and this review is long overdue. He is kind, fun, genuine, and fuels me from the inside. He motives me mentally, and explains what each exercise does to my body, what muscles are activated. He is a walking Wikipedia. I have never met a person so knowledgeable like Charles. He knows more information that medical doctors. Personally, I have been a big skeptic about personal trainers for the longest time, for a few different reasons: 1) They are expensive 2) Do not always customize the program based on where you are mentally at in the process 3) Boring routine workout Charles is none of those things. Since my initial orientation with him, he heard my needs; why I needed a personal trainer and what were my goals. I have accountability issues when it comes to exercise, hence I realized I needed a trainer that just doesn't let me off the hook easily and doesn't make me do routine workouts ( threadmills etc). I have yet to repeat any of my workouts with Charles. They never are boring. I am not going to lie, he makes you workout hardcore, but somehow Charles manages to keep my mind busy and 60 Minutes fly by. he also gives his clients his undivided attention - he catches me when I try to cheat on my workout. I work out with Charles's at my very own gym in my building, based in Weehawken, nj If you are looking for a personal trainer that actual cares about health/wellness/fitness and his clients. Look no further. I am very lucky to have found him. A hidden gem for sure and I will hope to continue my personal training adventure with him.

I have been putting off writing this review because I dont know how to put into words how amazing George is, if I could give him 10 stars I would! In the last half of 2016 and most of 2017 I was dealing with a lot of medical issue that wound up effected my body and muscles a lot (I was always in pain)! I always had some pounds to lose however I was able to work out and keep it under control until 2016 when it all began and I was put on certain meds for almost a year. When I started with George my whole body would ache all the time and I was dealing a lot back issues AND trust issues regarding anything that involved my health including exercise! Not only did he prove that he knew what he was doing he figured out exercises that would not hurt my back but still make it stronger, and anything he didn't know he researched. Since working with George my back pain has decreased significantly, my body hardly hurts anymore, I feel stronger, im able to work out 4 times a week, and I have lost almost 30 pound, all this in less than 6 months (and it would probably be more if I didn't cheat as often as I do). I was not your typical person looking for a trainer to just tone up or lose a few pounds I needed more help than that and he has gone above and beyond expectations!! He tailors my workouts to me, I am never board, he does not except excuses, however truly cares! He is extremely knowledgeable and always strives to be better and you can tell he truly loves what he does, I cannot recommend him enough!!

So far, over the course of 6 months, I went from being afraid of a barbell to deadlifting my bodyweight (125lbs) and doing other exercises I only dreamed of. I can finally do a pull up too!!!! Ladies, give Joan a shot. She's your best bet. AND I lost 10 pounds without forcing my to run or punish cardio myself into oblivion. STRENGTH is where it's at. Joan is everything I have been looking for in a trainer. She understands the body better than doctors i've come across. Every workout is a challange, a progression, a change. She is the most patient person i've pretty much ever met too. She answered all my thousand questions before starting too. We were on the phone for an hour haha I have never worked out for longer than a few weeks, I'm one of those people that gets bored easily and doesn't like to sweat much. Well, Joan was patient with me and slowly but warmly welcomed me to the world of fitness. So happy, I never want to stop working out! lol
