The workouts are always custom tailored to the individual or the group as a whole. Trainers demonstrate the exercise and emphasis proper form, which some trainers don't do. Richard has been my trainer for 2.5 years. I've never had a trainer before. Now I can't imagine working with anyone else. First of all he's just a really mellow, genuine, caring person. He never gets distracted while training me and focuses on everything I'm doing. He's very comfortable training both men and women of any age group. And he treats me like an equal. He's never condescending when I question something. He's tough when he wants you to just push that next lift and I had to learn to trust him. But he's also understanding if you don't feel well. Pretty quickly he learns his clients strengths and weaknesses. With me it was always trying to conserve energy so I could do more rep.'s He realized thats how I was thinking! And then spent many sessions teaching me to change that habit. He's got a sixth sense for all this. Just by watching you he can figure out how you're thinking while you train. Initially I was expecting him to look at me and think "older woman, I won't push too much". I had seen that mentality with other trainers at the same gym. Which would have been insulting. I was SO wrong! He trained me as if I was getting ready for my sport. I was already in good cardio shape but wanted to build muscle and get stronger. With Richard I could not believe how I was lifting 6 months along. I would never have believed I could become as strong as I am. He taught me so many techniques to mentally open up to lifting to my full potential. And he taught me good lifting technique so I have not had one injury in all this time. He also changes the work-out the second he feels you've gotten comfortable with it. Which I hate but is necessary! He's passionate about his career and you can tell he feels great when he sees that you're improving. He's also very knowledgeable about the role nutrition plays and stressed how important it was to allow some weight gain, steering me away from obsessing about the scale. I am really proud of my accomplishments. I work out in a gym that can be very intimidating when you wander near the free weights. All young guys full of machismo. But with Richard's training I walk in there alone now and I know what I'm doing. His training has greatly improved my confidence. It's affected my whole life, not just my work out : )
So far, I have taken 4 sessions with Mike. I am a dancer who got side tracked behind a desk, and I need help getting back to the way I use to be. Mikes fitness bootcamp is AMAZING! I am trying to enroll my sister and cousins and make it a family workout. ITS GREAT ANy age any body type, any strength level, any pace, anytime! but do it now! ;)
My fellow Yelpers, I go here often and have been for years. Hands down the best workout (some instructors are better than others) however all instructors are good. They won't let you slack. Best workout in Manhattan. Moe is the manager here and he is super cool. Everyone is professional and welcoming yet fun all at once. I enjoy this place and HIGHLY recommend for everyone to try out. So many discounts and perks for becoming a member. They have 5 to 6 classes per days accommodating even the busiest people (like me) $20 for 3 classes plus free gloves. Doesn't get better than that!!!!!!

I have worked with my fair share of trainers, let me tell you! Usually, every few months I will start working with a new trainer, I will buy a number of sessions, finish them out, and then start with a new trainer a few months later. Maybe I am picky, but I usually find something wrong with each trainer and get sick of them. That what always the case, until I started working out with Rob! Rob is enthusiastic, motivating, and genuinely good at what he does. He appreciates hard work and is willing to work hard for you in return by giving you the best assistance and instruction you can imagine. I have been working with Rob for awhile now, and I cannot express how happy I am with my results. With Rob's help, I have lost a significant amount of weight and inches, while simultaneously building muscle and getting toned. I know I am getting close to my goal and I cannot wait to rock a bikini this summer! Rob has changed my whole outlook on working out. He has turned me into a person who actually looks forward to going to the gym everyday! Who would have thought?!
Highly recommend! They were able to work with my busy schedule and partner me up will someone based on my background/goals. I trained with this company back in LA and you have no idea how happy I am that they have trainers in NYC as well! The training packages are a great deal and it's a huge plus that their trainers are well informed when it comes to nutrition. All of the trainers are amazing but Erika's experience aligned perfectly with what I was looking for in a trainer. If you're willing to do the work you will absolutely get the results. Mark is everything you want in a trainer. Not just someone who will bark at you, but a trainer who knows how to design the most effective program to get real results. I've worked with dozens of trainers, and his knowledge and education dwarfs them all. He's good at preparing athlete for any competition and also knows how to address injuries which is a huge deal.

Elise is currently training me specifically with strengthening/toning and healthy eating. I approached Elise for training due to her undergraduate degree in exercise science, current studies in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Seton Hall University and because of her dedication/motivation for her own healthy lifestyle transformation. I have known Elise for two years now and was able to witness her transformation and it is truly inspiring to see someone put forth so much time and effort to live a healthy lifestyle. Not to mention her results are incredible! She looks amazing and is a fitness inspiration for anyone. I enjoy working with Elise because she is very flexible in regards to my schedule of where/when I am able to workout. If she is unable to meet up with me she sends me a plan via text with exercises we have done before that I am familiar with and the appropriate reps and sets. Due to the fact that she is studying Physical Therapy she incorporates many exercises that will not only give me a great bikini bod but will also help my body function better to prevent future impairments. I have worked out and played sports for as long as I can remember and I truly enjoy the exercises, support and knowledge that Elise provides to get me to the next level that I am unable to accomplish alone. I've trained with Chris for about three years now. In the beginning i was cepitcal about getting a trainer, but I knew I needed one to get the results I wanted. Me and Chris instantly clicked, he listened to my goals and came up with a workout routine that would get me those results. Within the first month I notice some results, after about three months I could see my body starting to transform. I've seen Chris twice--the first time was a hybrid-training--first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and then Muay thai. The second time was pure Muay Thai. In both areas, Chris has demonstrated that he is a patient, and articulate instructor. He breaks down concepts to their component parts, and will make sure you are executing the exercises properly--he keeps a close eye to make sure your form is proper, and his attitude is always a positive, encouraging one that makes it easier to push yourself. Chris is an experienced striker, and BJJ practitioner (competitive Brown Belt) and his knowledge shines through. I 100% will use his services again, and 100% recommend him.
I am and still am a client of Andrei, and I could not be happier with my results. I have lost 25 lbs since I started working with him. I have worked out with several personal trainers over the last 10 years and El is by far the most excellent trainer I have ever had and makes these other personal trainers look like amateurs. I wanted something different and more consistent than the "big" gyms that have trainers who are kids and often don't know anything about handling large weights. I was recommended to Rowdell's by a friend, and really like him. He has competed and trained other bodybuilders, and knows how to work with large weight for men. I also like the fact that it's a private studio. Usually just me and him. I've been very happy with my results and will stay with him.

They are the best, learn from the best and bring their A game to every training session - which vary from endurance, strength, mobility, flexibility, power using tools and methods from gymnastics to power lifting to physical therapy to sports training. They're not about competition and personal bests although if that's your goal, they WILL get you there. This is a place the pros go - personal trainers, body builders, professional and amateur athletes. Yet the vibe and the trainers welcome any one at any level. I go there because they are 100% focused on developing the best me they can. Each individual session addresses problems/dysfunctions/issues I have and I walk out with a better understanding of my body and how it moves and how to keep it strong and healthy.
