Makayla is a fantastic tutor. I am an adult student who has never been good at math. Finding Makayla was the best thing to happen to me in my college career. She is very flexible, knowledgeable and patient. She has helped me to have a better attitude about mathematics...I now believe I CAN do it. She genuinely cares about her students' success. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a math tutor.

We call her “Jeanne Poppins” and highly recommend her to take care of your child. From the moment she arrived with a little trinket for our five-year-old daughter and a willingness to get on my daughter's level to play, we knew this would be a great fit. Jeanne has been a tremendous asset to us in getting our child ready for kindergarten. She used her extensive teaching knowledge to create a mock school day complete with transitions, stars, and the occasional homework. Besides the academics, she is wonderfully creative and fun; many a fantastic art project came home as well. My daughter adores her. Your child will too.

My daughter is 13,homeschooled and dreaded math. After a month or so with Josh, she actually( to my utmost surprise), said that it was fun. She looks forward to the tutoring sessions, and since we began them, has not uttered one math complaint. She also likes his book"The Algebra Survival Guide". After working from it, she soon realized that it was the first time that she understood what algebra is all about. I highly recommend him for anyone struggling with math, or those who want to further their math skills.I believe Josh would be equally as good with any subjects he chose to teach, as he is truly a gifted and thorough teacher. He has a very thoughtful and comprehensive knowledge of both subject and the needs of his student.

I like interacting with other learners. There is always something new to learn and explore in every learning encounter and I find that very often the teacher learns as much as the student.

I have 12 years of teaching experience in engineering college as an assistant professor. I can make the students to understand the concepts easily. I am very cordial in nature, and I can explain the concepts with practical examples. I can handle all the kinds of students. Teaching is my passion.

I can private Spanish tutoring for one-on-one or groups. I do all levels of teaching, and I can also teach advanced Spanish conversation. I can also teach phonetics (Club del Almuerzo).

My work stands out because I have a deep understanding of the link between a person's emotional state of mind and his/her ability to learn. It is difficult to take in new information if a child is feeling scared, worried or just plain insecure. I am able to create a safe environment in which students are able to ask questions and take risks. I am also able to efficiently break concepts down into manageable pieces so the material is not overwhelming. Having an easy and natural rapport with kids, I am patient and understanding yet have high expectations for their learning. I have helped many children and their families become more confident in both academic endeavors and their ability to create a successful learning environment. I love working with children and helping them understand concepts which may have been difficult before. I like witnessing the increase in confidence as they begin to understand something new. My sense of humor seems to parallel my students' much of the time, so I am able to develop an easy rapport with them. It is also extremely rewarding to help parents create the kind of academic environment in which they can ultimately support their child enough so that they no longer need my services!

How do you find a good math tutor?

Math home tutors are available for any age student, from elementary school to postgraduate studies. Rates will vary based on the tutor’s background, education and experience. To find a good math tutor, first determine your learning goals. Do you need help understanding and completing homework assignments? Are you preparing for the math portion of a standardized test? Next, read reviews from current and former students. Find someone with proven success helping students achieve their goals. If you want help on an ongoing basis, decide what your budget is and identify the tutors who fall within your range. Ask if there are additional fees for travel, as some home math tutors include travel costs in their rates and others charge extra. Ask about session length and the tutor’s teaching style, and whether they also offer online sessions or group sessions. Finally, schedule a single session with each of the math tutors you think are best to see who is the best fit.
