We had pavers installed as a hot tub platform. Mario was very professional and very reasonably priced. The quality of the work was excellent and was handled timely as there was a very short window to coincide with the hot tub repair. I would recommend Mario and his company to anyone of my friends and family and look forward to working with him on my future needs

Having Dan service us was one of the best decisions this household could make. He mounted three television sets without a hitch and for a fair price nonetheless. Dan was not only accommodating but patient too and so agreeable. This guy is the real deal. Would recommend 10 times outta 10.

As soon as Kat and I started talking about my needs in changing mine and my dogs behavior I knew this would be the perfect fit for working together in creating a better balance for my pooch and I. The one on one session was scheduled a few days after our initial consultation call, and it proved incredibly valuable just after a few hours. In just a few days after that initial session, I already saw a big difference in myself and my dog, when out on walks and when visitors came by the house. The additional group training classes we signed up for will undoubtedly also help bring harmony and balance to my household too. Kat is very personable and makes it easy to understand why having the correct tools and training will benefit the animal and human in no time. I look forward to continuing my training and highly recommend Kat.

He was here on time and exceeded my expectations! I would recommend him, and company, for any "honey do" you have on your list. He cleared my backyard of dog droppings, pulled long standing weeds and fixed my toilet all within an hour. We've scheduled he return every first Monday a month. He is wide open to performing any other "odds and ends" I might have and I've lots! He's a truck, ladders and all other sorts of equipment to assist you in your household/landscape/doggie needs. Again, I do highly recommend him (and company)!

I was set up with an awesome response time from Aderian, which adjusted his schedule to fulfill my short notice request for a move of my household goods. The movers, Cory and John, were ahead of the scheduled time, which is always awesome when you are planning a move on a time frame. They were very quick and meticulous when it came to the handling, moving, and placement of the furniture not only into the moving truck, but also the storage facility. They did an awesome job and all I can say is "Job well done and thank you for everything."

We combined two separate households & generations. Needless to say, this is not an easy task to please one who leans toward modern decor & another who wants to display a lifetime of collectibles. Pam has been friendly, professional & so easy to work with. From helping us organize, giving ideas for furniture placement to maximizing storage, to going shopping. She quickly responds & offers her expertise on every level. This is an ongoing project & in the months going forward I have no doubt Pam will help pull this together to make our home one we will love.

I had a destroyed front exterior door which was a real security issue. First of all once he assets the issue I told him I was not going to able to do it until 7 days from now and I expected not to hear from the owner (Douglas) until then, but to my surprise he returned with the parts paid for and fixed my issue as well as any other issues I had. I watched all the problem with this door because it was not the standard 36" x 80" and I would have called it a day, but he wouldn't stop until it was perfect. I can tell you that I will be using his company for all my projects and the price was very fair and honest as well! You just dont find companies or people like this anymore and he truly blessed my family and household! Thanks for everything Douglas!!

Rafael is very knowledgeable, he has saved me a lot of money and suffering in my home! While he was clearing a stoppage in my upstairs bathroom, he was explaining to me a lot of common household plumbing issues and reasons why some things give over time.. and I’ve been proactive with my house hold with that knowledge and prevent myself some a major expense in the future! He was thorough and professional and I will continued to call him if I need any jobs done in my home. I trust his experience and problem solving abilities.

Ed was responsible for the overall renovation of my master bathroom (tile/Shower), and also stucco and repainting of my house. He also installed my new built-in microwave above my range, and secured my flimsy patio cover. He is very knowledgeable and experience with overall household repairs and construction. If he can't do it, he knows someone reliable who can.

My husband and I are both Active Duty military, so our household doesn't have a lot of time to spare for cleaning our home. Trish was prompt and professional. Communication was simple, and it was easy to select services from her price sheet. I've had many housekeepers since I've moved to Las Vegas, and she is the first I entered a contract for long term service with! She was cooperative for a background check, and provided several references. Trish brings out the best in my home, and genuinely cares about the quality of her service.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is house sitting?

A house sitter watches your house while you are away for work or vacation, or if you have to be away for an extended period. House sitters can also provide pet-sitting services, staying in your home and caring for your pet while you are away. The house sitter can say overnight in your home while you’re gone, or stop by once a day to ensure everything is in order if your pet doesn’t need overnight supervision. Reptiles and most cats are just fine with daily visits and feeding.

House sitting provides major advantages to the homeowner. A regular presence in your house deters break-ins and theft. Home safety issues such as water leaks get noticed and dealt with right away, so you don’t come home to big problems. A house sitter can bring in your mail daily, care for your houseplants, and provide home safety and peace of mind.

Why should you hire a contractor?

Hiring a general contractor is a good idea for many remodeling projects. Home renovation contractors have a broad range of skills to manage, coordinate and complete a project. They should help make sure your project comes in on time and within your budget as they hire and supervise all the necessary subcontractors, including electricians and plumbers. They also handle procuring all the materials required for your job. Some homeowners look to save money by acting as their own contractor, but an experienced home renovation contractor is worth the cost. They should know local building codes, be able to pull all necessary permits, and work with inspectors to make sure the construction meets local codes. Also, because they get professional discounts, they can typically buy materials at a better price than you can; better prices on materials and labor save you money, and make up for at least a percentage of the cost of the contractor.

How much do you pay for house cleaning?

Hiring a professional house cleaning service is a helpful way to have a healthy home even when your work and personal schedule is packed. House cleaning prices vary based on how many square feet your home is, how dirty your house gets, and how often the cleaning service comes. Some companies charge a set amount — such as 5 cents — per square foot, with a minimum amount, such as $100. The national average cost for house cleaning ranges between $110 and $150. Prices can be lower in areas with a lower cost of living, higher in big cities or affluent regions. You may save money by increasing the frequency of your house cleaning visits. Often a company will charge you less per cleaning when you schedule more cleanings per month. The cost advantage rewards your loyalty, and also reflects the fact that more frequent cleanings make it easier to maintain a high level of cleanliness in your home. A housecleaning service may charge more for the first visit or for one-time services than for recurring cleanings.

How do you find a good handyman?

Finding a good handyman can change your life. Within days, the endless list of insurmountable tasks that were either out of your skill range or impossible to fit into your busy schedule can be completed. If you know you want help but aren’t sure how to hire the right pro, ask these questions to find the right fit:

    • What is your work experience? If you are putting in a tile backsplash, you want someone experienced with the task, not someone who generally does painting and junk removal.
    • How much do you charge? Handymen often charge hourly rates that vary based on the complexity of the task they’re hired to do, as well as flat rates for standard jobs. Be clear about what they’ll charge before you hire them.
      • On that note, discuss payment details. It’s wise not to pay all the money up front, especially for larger projects. You may be able to pay a deposit for materials and pay the remainder upon project completion.
    • How long will the job take you to complete? If the handyman is as busy as you are and a fence repair is going to take months, you should probably find another qualified handyman for the job.

Read client reviews and follow up with references to make sure you’re choosing the right handyman for your projects. For more, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

    What does a handyman do?

A handyman is a skilled laborer who provides basic home repairs. Anyone can call themselves a handyman, although most who do so are skilled with repairs and home projects. Reading reviews is a good way to determine their fitness for your job. The tasks a handyman can perform include assembling furniture, painting interiors and exteriors, repairing fences, repairing broken doors or replacing trim, hanging lights, hooking up appliances, and much more. Handymen may have flat fees for certain services, or charge an hourly rate. Handyman rates are often lower than those of a contractor, as they don’t have the same specialization. Some states have no limit on the work a handyman can perform, while others do. For example, California’s Building and Professions Code section 7048 (small operations) permits handymen to provide work similar to that of a contractor (floor installation, painting, etc.) provided the total cost of labor and materials does not exceed $500. A handyman is a great resource for minor home repairs at a lower cost than a licensed contractor, but for more complex projects, it pays to hire a specialized contractor.
