I'm so glad I chose Paul and Lisa from Paul's Vegas Photography to take pictures of my parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary and reception. They were competitively priced, responsive and flexible in splitting their time between two venues at different times in the day. Paul and Lisa are professional, show up on time, and they were extremely patient with the endless requests for group table photos with the almost 200 guests! They took plenty of pictures during the vow renewal and reception and every moment was captured. The pictures turned out great and we'll be looking back at the photos for years to come remembering what a great time everyone had with family and friends! I would highly recommend Paul's Vegas Photography.

Very friendly and personable. Worked wonderfully in sync with our photographer to create the best content! He even shot our venue with a drone. I cannot wait to see the whole video of our wedding day!

Red Valley Media provided a really good value for their videography service. They are very competitively priced and I really enjoyed working with their cameraman, Hadim. He is a true professional; he patiently worked through technical issues concerning the shoot which allowed us to produce the a high quality video from the comedy show. This would not have been possible had he not been willing and patient enough to allow us to learn from him during this experience! Thanks.

I recently had a wedding, and I knew when I was planning my big day, the most important thing to me was the music. I feel like that can make or break an event! After doing tons of research on DJs, Douglas Farra was the person I decided to go with. I'm really glad I went with him! Everything was perfect. He listened to all of my needs as far as the type and variety of music to be played, and he exceeded my expectations. He was friendly, professional, and my wedding reception was a BLAST because of his amazing work. Highly recommended!

Big7 Media was excellent. They filmed our wedding at the Sienna Golf Course in Las Vegas on March 10th 2012. My wife jackie and I were very impressed with the outcome of our video. Many of our friends want to get remarried to have a new wedding video because they were impressed aswell. We had several phone calls and meetings with them before we got married. They were always on time and very professional. We had a photo shoot with Joe's daughter Trisha a week before the wedding and the photos were amazing, she had lots of great ideas. She has a lot if skill and she was fast to produce the photos to us. I really wish we had used her for our wedding aswell because the person we used had no ideas and we received the photos almost two months later and they weren't as polished as Trishas were. My friends loved the photos aswell, we definitely recommend Trisha. She is a star when it comes to her profession and her personality is a plus. She makes you feel special and comfortable. All in all Trisha and Big7 Media are the best choice and we will use them again and again.

I'm getting married this weekend and I was planning to give some boudoir photos to my future hubby as a wedding gift. It turns out my photographer got sick and so I needed someone at the last minute. I got lots of quotes from different photographers but most of their photos were a bit "ordinary". I wanted someone really creative and so I booked Adam Sternberg to do my shoot. WOW was I glad with the results. Adam certainly wasn't the cheapest quote but there is no doubt I got way more than my money's worth. He was able to do a shoot for me in a pinch and get the retouching done ASAP so I could have the photos done before the wedding. Not only is Adam fun to work with but his professionalism and experience is second to none. I just got the photos back from him and I'm so blown away by the results I can't wait to show them to my husband-to-be. Thanks Adam for your hard work in a pinch and I will certainly be hiring you for some future event photography I'm in need of in December. YOU ROCK!

We almost didn’t get a videographer for our wedding but we’re so glad we did! Weddings are a whirlwind so it’s very easy to forget some parts and even miss special moments throughout the day. Joseph captured the spirit of our wedding. He was very professional and a great listener. The experience was very seamless; we didn’t even notice he was there most of the time unless we needed him. He recorded so many aspects of our day from the beautiful scenery to special messages from our guests and of course every angle of the most important events. The way he edited the videos was perfect. We have a short version to share with friends and family and a long version just for us. We definitely recommend JunkBox Productions to anyone that needs videography or photography!

Everyone tells you that your wedding day goes by in a flash - they aren't kidding. I felt like I missed so much because my eyes were so focused on my groom and not crying. Thankfully Swoon (Cody) was there to catch all those special moments and details that I would have never caught. And he is sneaky! I didn't even notice him nor did the photographer; they worked in perfect harmony like a polished team despite having only met that day. Each was able to get amazing shots without conflicting with the other. The video he created captured the feel of the day and was so perfect that I started crying (again) when I got to view it. Cody worked with me on my ideas and song choices and managed to get everything I would want to remember into 4 minutes - including a very important kiss from my father that meant the world to me to have videoed (I didn't even tell him how special that moment would be for me, it's like he just knew). He is beyond professional and still comfortable enough to not stick out - almost like he was a cousin of mine, he just blended in while getting work done. His pricing was beyond reasonable for the final product; I would have paid double if I'd known it would end up so wonderful. I'm so happy that I was able to have Swoon video my special day! I would gladly recommend them to anyone and everyone looking to capture special moments or just needing video work done (I plan on using them again at the first chance I get!). I can't wait to share my wedding video with friends and have them "swoon" over the perfection of it all.

I've been putting off writing this review because I didn't know what to write. When I selected 4Spades they had no reviews yet. However, I decided to take a chance because the price was within budget and we really wanted a wedding video. There were technical difficulties and I didn't end up with one of the things that I wanted which was a full video of my ceremony. However, the highlight video is awesome and I love it! It takes me right back to that day every time I watch it! I think 4Spades learned from what went wrong and will hopefully put in place some backups to prevent the same difficulties that were encountered during my wedding. In hindsight I wish I would have asked a family member to video with their phone though, that would have been a good backup plan for me to make sure the ceremony was captured but I didn't think I needed it. Overall, I really appreciated working with 4Spades - they put in long hours to capture all the moments and they communicated very well at all times. I would recommend them and I'd probably still choose them if I had to do it again but I'd put some backup plans in place to make sure I got everything. 4Spades really tried to accommodate and help me get what I wanted and when they couldn't deliver - they did discount my package which I thought was fair. I know the problem we had wasn't on purpose. Technical difficulties happen and hopefully everyone can learn from it. I'm sure with each wedding they will just get better and better!

We were very happy with the our videographer, Thaddeus Hager. He always quickly responded to my emails and was a pleasure to work with. He came to the rehearsal the day before the wedding so he could check out the setup, and brought a second cameraman with him to the wedding to be sure to get more angles/shots. He delivered the completed wedding video to us one week after the wedding, and it was great quality! Could not have asked for more!

All I can say is Absolutely Stunning!! The dedication and care that W.Cortez Media put into creating our wedding video just pours out by just watching it. They were great with communication, flexible, and worked with our schedule without a problem. The quality of their work is outstanding! My family has shown the trailer to many of their friends and they thought they were being shown a professional Wedding Commercial. Many times my Mother had to tell them that it was her daughter's wedding video and the reactions were priceless! We have received so many compliments and are super proud to show off the beautiful work that W.Media Cortez produced! At first, my husband was hesitant to even hire a professional videographer and wanted to go the "cheap route" and just get a good ol' camcorder and just have family record it. LOL! Thank goodness we managed to talk him out of it! He was still iffy but after he saw the videos, he was sooo happy and grateful that I didn't back down. W.Cortez Media's video of our wedding had us both in tears of joys. They captured so many emotional moments and it just helped us relive our entire wedding day! I can't express enough how thankful and filled to the brim with joy I am with the video they created! Thank you again to the wonderful team at W.Cortez for working so hard in capturing our wedding day so perfectly! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I highly recommend W.Cortez Media for all your videography and photography needs! You will not be disappointed at all. Their level of dedication, professionalism, and eye for detail show through their hard work 100%.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

    • Package 1: $1,400
      • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
      • Two cameras with audio equipment.
      • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
      • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
    • Package 2: $1,800
      • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
