About

I found the search for classical guitar instruction rather daunting until I discovered the website of James Lorusso (jameslorusso.com). My initial contact from several other entities and individuals proved far too commercially driven for my taste. I was interested in taking formal lessons and learning how to read music not just learning from tablature or playing by ear which I had done for over fifty years. A few hours following my e-mail inquiry I was surprised and gratified to receive a personal call from Mr. Lorusso and was in his studio the very next day. I was immediately impressed with this gentleman. His warmth and finely honed pedagogic approach were so apparent it was only a matter of minutes into that introductory lesson I became convinced I had found the quintessential teacher a true pedagogue and a man of such talent and encyclopedic musical knowledge I was drawn to him like a magnet. Seldom in life does one come across a resource as substantial and charismatic as this gentleman look no further, you have just found a genius who's also as warm as the day is long! My name is Tom I'm 67 years of age and feel like a kid when I'm in Jims studio. In three months he has given me gifts of learning and brought me to places I thought were unachievable. He will do the same for you!

About

I had on and off lessons with Chris for a year now. As you get older, it's difficult to learn something brand new. I was interested in learning on how to play the Bass. When I found Chris's name on the internet, I called him, and I had Bass Guitar lessons with him. He is just a great guy, he made my bass very doable. He made it fun. He incorporated music and the things that you love in the lessons. He is cool; he always checks on the progress of the lessons. He is awesome. Not only he is a great teacher, but he is also an amazing musician. And one great thing about him is that he loves what he teaches and he plays it very well. I will definitely recommend Chris to anyone.

I have a wide array of services. I have tutored middle school subjects (except math), guitar, magic the gathering, and even online computer gaming. I also seek to be a pet sitter. One of my favorite things as a tutor is to learn with the client. Whatever I may be teaching them has a lesson for me to learn, so I too become a student as we both venture to acquire new knowledge. I am a loving man who aspires greatness for all.

About

I have been voted and considered NY's top guitar teacher for many years now. I teach over 60 lessons a week and I have far more experience than practically every teacher out there. I have been the touring guitarist for Lita Ford, Bent Pussycat, Almost Queen, and dozens of acts, as well as a broadway performer, and recently as the lead guitarist in Rock of Ages. I teach all styles and levels. I have a proven method of teaching that I have been using for twenty years. My students have gone on to become some of the top music teachers and performers in the business, and with my contacts I have helped them secure some incredible jobs and gigs. I teach in a very supportive and encouraging matter that never judges anyone. Lessons are productive and most of all enjoyable. I can sayed without a doubt, that only after one lesson you will agree that you are finally on the right path to reach the musical goals you always dreamed of. Search the web and You Tube, and you will certainly find my work. I do NYSSMA training and coaching, as well as scholarship audition planning and practicing. I also work as a consultant and trainer for music teachers who want to improve their own music lesson businesses. I have very few spots open, but I am always willing to take on a serious student regardless of level. All students are screened before starting. A free consultation with me is encouraged before committing to lessons.

For intermediate and advanced players, emphasis on sight reading/crossover styles is given. Group coaching for guitar with all combinations of instruments is available. I have a quiet rehearsal studio 3 miles west of Manhattan via NJ Transit #168 & 175. My early career as a concert musician began in the 1970s. I'm a working musician and musicologist/annotator, published at any given time in approximately 75-100 running technical and cultural publications. In early 2006, I was included in who's who in American Women and who's who in Education in America, and as of 2009, was included in the international who's who in Music. About

Bio: Born into a musical family, Chad Wade studied piano as a child and purchased his first guitar at age 14. He studied the electric guitar with Greg Nipp and played in several bands throughout high school and college. He later earned a bachelor of arts degree in music from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he studied classical guitar under Cuban master, Mario Abril. Chad has performed at a variety of venues over the years, from intimate weddings to large benefit concerts (the largest being 7,000). He has taught both private and group lessons to different ages and skill levels for over seven years. He has been certified as a TakeLessons and Taylor Robinson Music instructor. Chad now serves as music pastor for Encounter Church in Darien, CT. Lesson content: I mainly teach the finger style technique and repertoire of classical guitar. This technique can be applied to different kinds of guitars (steel string acoustic, electric, etc.) and can serve as an excellent foundation to other musical styles (jazz, blues, country, rock, etc.), but can only be effectively learned on a true classical guitar. Beginning students will be guided through First Lessons for Guitar: Volume 1 by Julio S. Sagreras (which I will provide for $5). Students will also acquire the classic etudes of Sor, Carcassi, Villa-Lobos and Brouwer, later exploring the rich diversity of classical guitar repertoire from the renaissance, baroque, romantic, and modern eras. If you're interested in learning other styles, we can agree on a personalized track to learning what you'd like to learn. The first lesson is free: I offer this incentive because I want to assure the student/parent that we are going to work well together. This first lesson is a great opportunity to establish goals, answer any question, and clearly communicate what the student should expect from my guitar lessons. Parents are welcome to sit in on this relational discussion, as well as any other lesson, as long as they are not a distraction to the student. Performances: I also regularly perform at various events. The unique sound of plucked nylon strings elicits a pleasant, formal mood while remaining conducive for conversation. The guitar is most suitable for smaller, intimate venues, but amplification can be used for larger venues. My most requested pieces include Pachelbel's "Canon in D," Mendelsohn's "Wedding March," and Wagner's "Bridal Chorus", but most guitar music from the renaissance, baroque, romantic, and modern eras are often appropriate for any venue. Additionally, the guitar is versatile enough to play music composed for other instruments, so the possibilities are endless.

About

I am accepting beginners through intermediate players ($60/hr.) in a variety of musical styles. I will help develop the students' love of music, while nurturing their desire to learn. My specialties include: - Acoustic guitar - Electric guitar - Electric bass I will include some theory, reading, and harmony and work on ear training, enabling students to listen and reproduce what they are hearing. In addition to the pure joy of playing our instrument, I use a variety of other resources, including my wealth of hand-picked "favorites" on YouTube and other sites. I'm user-friendly; my students can always email me, send me links, and ask my assistance between lessons. New this year: In celebration of guitar great Django Reinhardt, and for those students who would like to learn the Gypsy jazz style, I will be teaching authentic comping chords, patterns and scales. Whenever possible, I will host a special workshop or master class that will feature noted musicians. Also new this year: I am very excited to announce that I can accommodate one student who would like to learn how to play Renaissance lute ($90/hr). The student will use one of my Hieber 8-course lutes and will learn to read the musical notation that was used in the 1500s. Learn the music that Shakespeare heard, and find out firsthand why Sting loves the lute! My prices are affordable (Renaissance lute is higher due to instrument maintenance), and my hours are flexible. Evenings and weekend hours are available and some mornings. Play guitar like a pro!
