Look no further! Before we found Olga I tried 5 different piano and 4 different voice teachers over the past 4 years for my daughter. It is very difficult to find a good one and Olga teaches not only piano, but also voice as well as music theory so we are getting 3 qualities in 1 teacher. Finally we have found a teacher who is professional, college educated and works well with kids. My daughter's piano playing improved dramatically in less than 3 months and she is also taking voice lessons. We are fortunate to have found a teacher like Olga.

I am currently being tutored for high school/college math and Benjamin is very awesome. He listens to my needs and tailors the lessons for me. He is very patient and he explains concepts in a very clear and understandable way. I find that what I am learning is sticking with me because of the visual aids he uses in the lesson. I would definitely recommend this tutor!

My son attended School Boot Camp for the 2014 school year. I am beyond excited about the progress he made. In the span of 6 months my son learned enough to prepare for preschool and is often far more advanced than his current classmates. The teachers were hands on and the program far surpassed others I have looked into throughout the city. Great job School Boot Camp!!!!!!

There are plenty of English tutors out there and plenty of study helpers out there my work is not to teach you English that you already know, my work is to teach you how to pronounce it so people can better understand you. English is hard to pronounce if you have not been speaking the language all of your life.

I'm a medical student struggling with bills with over 10 years of experience under my belt. I've taught piano and violin; tutored writing, mathematics, and the sciences and conducted both bands and orchestras. I lost my client base when I moved here. I charge on a sliding scale, and I specialize in difficult cases.

Most of the students I work with are successful. All it takes is a little personal attention to find where a student struggles and a way to help them succeed. Because piano or guitar lessons are one on one the instruction can be tailored directly to the needs and interests of the student. It's so great to see someone who hasn't been successful before or who has struggled with a subject pass an exam or a course.

With 10 years of math teaching experience, 3 at the college level, I offer reasonable pricing as well as exceptional availability to fit your scheduling needs.

We offer foreign languages courses and tutoring. We offer the following: * Beginner Spanish Courses are focused on the Spanish sound system, basic grammar, vocabulary, and cultural elements. Although emphasis is on listening and speaking, basic reading, and writing skills will be developed. * Intermediate Spanish Courses require knowledge of Spanish pronunciation, basic vocabulary and present tense grammar. More advanced grammar, vocabulary, and cultural elements will be taught in the development of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. * Advanced Spanish Courses require fluency in spoken and written Spanish. Advanced grammar and vocabulary will be presented while the course concentrates on polishing the student's oral and writing skills and developing a sense of style.

My name is Silvina. I am an experienced and qualified Spanish teacher from Argentina living in Dublin. I am a certified Spanish teacher, and I have been teaching Spanish for many years in institutes, private classes and online. During my class, I have had students at all levels (from absolute beginners to those nearing fluency) and nationalities. I have been working in this profession for more than 6 years, and I understand all the difficulties students can go through. I am interested in how people learn a new language and how to make it easier for them. For that reason, I have developed a new approach to learning Spanish, and also I have created all the material and books for the class that will help you to enjoy and learn in a natural way. I offer Spanish classes for individuals or groups face to face or online. I have taught adults and children from different countries at all levels. Thanks! Silvina

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good math tutor?

Math home tutors are available for any age student, from elementary school to postgraduate studies. Rates will vary based on the tutor’s background, education and experience. To find a good math tutor, first determine your learning goals. Do you need help understanding and completing homework assignments? Are you preparing for the math portion of a standardized test? Next, read reviews from current and former students. Find someone with proven success helping students achieve their goals. If you want help on an ongoing basis, decide what your budget is and identify the tutors who fall within your range. Ask if there are additional fees for travel, as some home math tutors include travel costs in their rates and others charge extra. Ask about session length and the tutor’s teaching style, and whether they also offer online sessions or group sessions. Finally, schedule a single session with each of the math tutors you think are best to see who is the best fit.

How much do math tutors cost?

Math is a subject that’s challenging for many students. Fortunately, home math tutors can help students excel in math by working with them in focused one-on-one tutoring sessions. The cost for math tutors varies based on the type of math, the expertise and experience of the tutor, and geographic location. Pricing may range between $40 and $100 per hour, depending on the math subject. As a rule, the more complex the subject matter, the more the math tutor will charge for the lessons. The cost reflects the math tutor’s advanced studies and the work required for them to be able to teach on the subject. Frequency can also affect costs. Students can buy packages of lessons for a lower cost per session than buying individually. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a geometry home tutor is $50-$60. The national average rate for an algebra home tutor is $40-$50 per hour. For generalized math tutors, the national average ranges between $40 and $50 per hour. More intensive standardized test prep studies and math tutoring average $70-$100 per hour.

How much does home tutoring cost?

Investing in home tutoring is an investment in your child’s future. Home tutors work one on one with your child to address their challenge areas and provide room for intellectual growth that may not happen in a busy classroom. The cost of home tutors depends on multiple factors including where you live, the tutor’s background and education, the subject matter, and how often the tutor comes. Test prep home tutoring is typically more expensive than single-subject tutoring. Here are some examples of average tutoring costs:

  • National average cost for an algebra home tutor: $40-$50 per hour.
  • National average cost for a French home tutor: $30-$50 per hour.
  • National average cost for a geometry home tutor: $50-$60 per hour.
  • National average cost for a math home tutor: $40-$50 per hour.
