Michelle was able to very quickly pinpoint the problems and help me improve them. She also did a great job of listening to my goals / aspirations in order to tailor the lessons to my needs. The lessons themselves were a pleasure. Michelle is patient and does a great job explaining things clearly. Controlling your voice is a complicated thing to teach as some things can't really be "explained", they have to be experienced. She was great at guiding me through the process of discovering the techniques myself and getting a real feel for them. Would highly recommend her as a teacher!"See more

Dr. Kreeger was very fast at responding to my request in the Thumbtack app and we were able to set a date and time quickly and efficiently. Our lesson was via Zoom and he watched me play a couple of different pieces I was learning on my own. He was able to encompass all areas of playing piano that if practiced consistently, would help improve my technique over time. We discussed everything from proper posture and set up, body mechanics, and to how to best stylize phrasing of some of the music I was learning. I appreciated his approach to technique and how to practice; he was able to tailor the lesson to meet my specific needs and help me practice more effectively. Meng is fantastic teacher! Piano lesson with her was great and pleasant. I found the initial interaction with her very promising. Everything is so organized. She isn’t just pianist. She is dedicated and hard working teacher. She is from NYU piano performance major and music education as well. Especially, she is really good at working with little kids, very patient and gives very positive energy to students and parents as well. My kids are very excited and look forward to next lesson. If I could give six stars, I would. I would also recommend her to any friend or acquaintance interested in learning the piano in NYC.

Illya teaches my son and daughter piano once a week. He is wonderful with both of them, particularly my son who has autism. He uses the comic book he wrote while teaching and completely engages the kids. I was worried my son wouldn't be able to sit for an hour lesson, but he begs to continue with his lesson and doesn't want to give his sister her turn with Illya. While my son was having a lesson we heard some amazing music. I went to see who was playing and it was Illya and my son! He makes the lessons fun so my kids want to practice what he has taught them. I highly recommend Illya as a piano teacher!

We are very lucky to know and have Ms. Lu to teach our daughter the piano lesson. She is skilled, serious, patient, joyful and fun. Our daughter has no prior piano experience but immediately fall in love with the instrument and teacher Lu. Her teaching method is thorough and instructive, which helps build a solid foundation for kids to develop their interests and skills in playing piano. We would certainly recommend her to any one who wants to learn piano.

I searched far and wide for a great professional piano teacher and found it in Justin. I had played when I was a kid and wanted to have a hobby that I can enjoy as well as learn from. Justin listened to what I wanted out of my experience (e.g., enjoyable yet challenging) and has tailored my lessons and checks in regularly to make sure he is doing all he can to make the experience even better. He is very knowledgeable about music in general not just piano, so I am not only learning the keys and technical skills, but also about the composer, music history, and culture. He has a kind and patient way to get me through the hard parts but challenges me to do better than what I expected of myself. I look forward to going to my lessons every week--it feels like a musical escape. Also, he is one of very few teachers in Manhattan who has a grand piano to teach on-- it's a treat to play on it. Highly recommended for all types of piano students!

We hired Noah to teach piano to our 8 year old son— and we have been SO impressed. (We were unimpressed with the first teacher we hired, who taught piano in a route fashion, depending solely on making kids memorize how to play short songs in a book, and who relied on a sticker reward system. Ugh.) We fired her and upgraded to Noah. Noah’s pedagogical approach is founded on the idea that a teacher should make it so that eventually the student no longer needs him. Meaning that he’s trying to impart a true understanding of musicality. And he makes every lesson engaging and fun. Words that come to mind are: playful, experimental, talented, warm, and curious. My son literally said, “Noah is enchanting!” He cares about the HOW and the WHY of the piano, and not just the what-can-you-play.
