I would like to extend our appreciation for Mark as the music teacher for our son. Since, the winter of 2011 he's been guiding our son with lessons on the electric guitar. Mark is very respectful, patient, knowledgeable, and easy going. We were honor to have our son chosen to be a part a music recital with Mark, as they played Minuet in G. With a great teacher we know we made a great choice for our son's music development.

My older daughter took lessons with Kyle for 5 years and loved it. She just played her guitar for the first time at a school concert and did great! Now we have our 8 year old taking lessons with him and she loves it, too. Kyle is nice and fun, but he makes them stay on task. They not only learn to play the guitar, but are also learning about music, writing their own, etc. Kyle is definitely worth the money! And on top of that, he's pretty flexible with our crazy schedule.

Fern was my piano teacher for about 8 years. She trained me classically and I became an accomplished pianist due to her. She helped me read music, taught me scales and chords and brought from a beginner pianist to an advanced level. She is very reliable: she was always punctual and never cancelled lessons. She's patient and a good teacher and I strongly recommend her for piano lessons.

Guitar lessons with Sam are the highlight of my week! Sam's deep passion for music is infectious in his lessons. He has the special gift of helping his students feel the same excitement he feels about music. As his student, I felt his support from the first note I played on guitar. He is one of the most positive people I have ever met and helps me embrace the challenges of learning a new instrument, rather than fear them. He breaks down concepts so that they are easy to understand and makes learning guitar extremely fun. When I leave a lesson with Sam, I am inspired to practice for hours, not because he asked me to, but because of the excitement he passed on to me in our lessons. I feel so lucky to have him as my teacher and do not want to imagine studying with anyone else!! (In addition to being an incredible music educator, Sam is also an amazing performer. Watching him play at concerts further inspires his students to want to practice. He is the real deal and carries out what he teaches in his own life. He is a great role model.)

I signed my young son up for 6 weeks of piano lessons last month...getting 2 lessons free. He had his 3rd lesson today and enjoys his weekly 30 min with Mrs. Cocklin. She has a professional and gentle way of teaching at his level. The lessons fun and interesting often including a game.

Julie Williams is a very professional and knowledgeable music teacher that has guided me through my first few piano lessons. I had contacted her to learn music theory and to play the piano. Her approach is to start with the basics and to build from there. I highly recommend her as a teacher who has the ability to guide a person through music lessons that will lead to success.

Sean is very professional and is always looking for new ways to engage and educate my kids. They love going to piano lessons and even practicing is less of a chore with the fun ideas and rewards that Sean comes up with. He really connects with the kids and always makes sure to give me an update on their progress.

Sadie is one of the most knowledgeable and patient teachers we've ever used. She gives lessons to four of our children and she knows exactly what each of their strengths and weaknesses are. Sadie is flexible with your hours, she communicates well through phone calls and texts, Hanchey uses new motivational tools to encourage our children to practice piano at home. She provides very clear instructions on what homework she expects them to complete before the next lesson. Overall, Sadie is a wonderful and hardworking teacher who gets the most out of her students.

About

I'm very enthuse in helping people in every detail. I like to help people learn the application.

About

My service stands out because I am a musician/teacher with a Master of Music degree and a professional performing background as a pianist and soprano in solo and ensemble classical concerts, operas, musical theatre, solo shows, pop/jazz gigs, cruise ships, and as a church organist and choir director. I am able to coach my students in piano and vocal technique, music fundamentals, all styles of repertoire, and performing techniques.

About

I offer guitar lessons to kids who are either just picking up a guitar, or who have been playing for a little while, but need direction in order to advance. I love working with kids of any age and showing them how rewarding this instrument can be! As I have matured as a musician, I have learned that there are three areas one must master as a guitarist. 1) Technique- HOW to play mechanically 2) Theory- WHAT to play. The science of music. 3) Composition- YOUR music. What makes your playing different from everyone else? It is my goal to show kids how to progress in each of these three areas.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is CPR training?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (better known as CPR) is a lifesaving manual technique that pumps oxygenated blood back into the body’s organs if someone’s heart or breathing has stopped. A variety of CPR training is available to community members, employees and healthcare providers. CPR training may last two to five hours or more, depending on the content and the target audience. During the training, students will learn how to recognize and respond to an emergency situation. There are different CPR techniques for adults and children, but with both you will learn how to determine whether the person is conscious before administering chest compression. During the training you’ll learn chest compression techniques for adults and different techniques for children between the ages of 1 and 8. Students learn how to properly administer chest compressions, when the technique is appropriate and when it is not, and how long you must perform rescue measures. Students also learn what an automatic external defibrillator (AED) is and how to use it if necessary to shock a patient before administering CPR chest compressions.

How do I become CPR and first aid certified?

You can earn CPR training and receive first aid certification in a number of ways. Choose an online course to learn the materials remotely and then find a testing location to complete the certification process with an in-person demonstration of your knowledge and skills. Encourage your workplace to host a first aid and CPR training so employees can learn what to do in case of a workplace emergency and how to respond with lifesaving techniques. You may also be able to take a CPR or first aid class in your community. A basic CPR training may run four to five hours. After receiving CPR training, you’ll know how to respond if an adult or a child goes into cardiac arrest or stops breathing. You’ll learn how to use chest compressions to keep blood pumping to a person’s organs, which can keep them alive until an emergency responder can arrive. First aid and CPR training can also include education about how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

What does a Spanish tutor do?

The goal of a Spanish tutor is to help students improve their Spanish reading, writing, comprehension, and conversation skills. The tutor’s approaches may vary, depending on whether the instruction is individual or a group class. Many Spanish tutors practice immersion — meaning they will speak only Spanish with their pupils. For students with little to no Spanish experience, the Spanish tutor may use a mix of Spanish and English to accustom their students to speaking the language.

A Spanish tutor can offer a wide range of services to their students. For students currently enrolled in a Spanish class through their middle school or high school, a Spanish tutor can help them with homework and language practice, as well as expanding their understanding of their current school curriculum. For adults, Spanish tutors will have different approaches based on that student’s need. Academics and those seeking high-level professional development for their career will often have more intensive and targeted lessons, drills, and interactive speaking tests. For adults who wish to learn conversational Spanish for fun or for travel, lessons may revolve around learning commonly used phrases and practicing speaking in relaxed settings.

What is first aid training?

With first aid training, you may be able to help save a life. First aid training can teach people who are not medical professionals how to help a sick or injured person in crisis before an ambulance arrives on the scene. Most commonly, first aid training helps teach you how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use automated external defibrillators (AEDs).

First aid training can teach you how to respond in a variety of emergency situations, including:

  • Asthma attack
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Burns
  • Choking
  • Diabetic emergencies
  • External bleeding
  • Heart attack
  • Poisoning
  • Neck, head or back injury
  • Stroke
  • Seizure

First aid training classes may be offered by professionals who are affiliated with the Red Cross, which offers online, in-person, and blended training classes. First aid classes are also often offered through local recreation centers, city services, schools, hospitals and private companies.

How much do Spanish tutors charge?

Nationally, the average cost for a Spanish tutor ranges from $30 to $40 per hour. The cost for a Spanish tutor can vary depending on whether you choose private instruction or group lessons. Geographic location can affect cost; tutors in expensive cities and pricier regions command higher rates than in rural areas and small towns. The experience and education of the Spanish tutor will also affect their rates. For adult education, many people learning Spanish choose to join a Spanish school with tutors who teach group classes and also offer private tutoring for students. Typically these schools charge a monthly tuition that gives students access to a set number of classes per week, with private tutoring available at an additional cost. One example of an average cost is a monthly tuition of $200, which includes five 90-minute group lessons per month. Monthly tuition can vary depending on the school and the teachers. Short-term workshops are also a way to learn Spanish. Students may work with a Spanish tutor and group of other students at their skill level for a short period of time. One example of an average price is $100 for an eight-week course, with one 60-minute group class per week.
