I love the folks at Indigo. I've worked with Vinnie, Kristin, Laura, and Ali. Each brought passion and professionalism to the table. They really cared about my manuscript, wanting it to be the best it could be, while staying uniquely mine. The manuscript I submitted to them had been making the rounds with agents and editors unsuccessfully--I had thought it was ready to shop. But then I went to Indigo. The manuscript that we finally published had more than 15,000 changes--not a lot of new text (I didn't need a lot of developmental editing), but many, many smaller adjustments--a feeling added there, a redundancy removed, a bit of exposition simplified, moved, or eliminated. I didn't agree with every change, but I understood that each recommendation came from a place of caring and craft. I absolutely believe that EVERY author should have his or her work professionally edited before even considering sending sample pages to an agent or editor. They are all looking for ways to say no to you, because they are already busy with existing clients. Give them a manuscript that has been professionally honed and you will exponentially increase your chances of breaking through. And Indigo's staff is ready to help you.
I have had the pleasure working with Antonio over the past seven years, and I can state with confidence that he is a professional and responsible English into Spanish technical translator/editor with a high degree of integrity. Antonio would be an asset to anyone who needs quality Spanish technical translation and I highly recommend him.
I decided to have him do some editing. He, accurately, recognized that my book proposal was too long. I'd been misled by one that said a proposal might be 100 pages. He reduced my overly long chapter descriptions to about a single sentence each. After that, I had to focus on writing so I haven't employed him for a while, but I may do so in the future. When I saw the firve stars I was influenced by the Amazon practice making five stars very rare. I was surprised to see "good" opposite five stars. Was it there before? I'd imagine most editors might not accomplish what he did and have tried to describe that. I think your rating scale needs work since it seems to me to limit the top rating to just "good." and Mr. Munkvold was better than that.
I found Laurel to be both a delight to work with and an incredible editor. Creative and disciplined. She can write and right wrongs...
I am employing Carol as an editor for my book. She is not only extremely competent but also very creative. Her ability to look at the big picture while considering the detail is unusual. She is a joy to work with.
Heather is by far more than I could've asked for in a tutor. I look forward to working with her over the next couple of months. Dawn
Laurie became my go-to editor for helping me with the Track Changes my publisher requested for my forthcoming memoir, "Self-Made Woman." I had no experience in this type of editing before and Laurie was patient, precise, pointed, and on-task in the challenging amount of work we did together. She worked with me in an engaging, professional manner, that made me feel comfortable & productive on our project. I would recommend any writer out there who needs an editor, to bring Laurie on-board!
