Despite the last review, which I view as a case of poor owners. The fact rings true that there is no bad dog just bad owners. Even if you watch "Caesar Milan" he says the same thing repeatedly and his techniques are also the same if not similar to Elaine's. Regardless, we adopted a Pitt Bull from the local SPCA on January 30,2016 she was very good with my husband and I but aggressive with ANYONE else and with other dogs as well. We knew we had a problem when we could not have people come inside of the house and even when people walked into the vets office she would get aggressive. I researched and talked to many dog trainers and to my shock a few of them said my Dallas was pretty much a lost cause and just an affressive dog. After Elaine's first visit with us we learned the tools we needed to have a happy balanced dog which to make a dog balanced and a happy dog does not require what we need and want to be happy as most think, as I thought before. Elaine knew exactly what Dallas needed and how to work with us to be able to help her. After her first visit was over we had a new dog instantly! The main concerns were covered in only 1.5hrs, this amazed us! We did use the gentle leader and we still use it every time we go on walks, she doesn't like it but she responds much better with it on and we both get an enjoyable walk. Now, 3 lessons in we are confident that we can take her places and know how to handle situations if they occur because with our dog it's all time and repetition at this point. We had a great experience with Elaine and would recommend her to anyone. She knows what she's doing and just go in knowing it's the owners who give their dogs these behaviors not the dogs. Trust me I found out I was making her worse by trying to baby her, I changed my behavior and energy and she changed pretty instantly. Personally I trust the care of my dog in Elaine's hands and you should too, she really does know her stuff and keep in mind being a dog owner does not make us experts so let's leave it to the actual expert!
I have known Steve for 10 years. He is the guru of dog trainers, in my book. He is an amazing trainer of retrievers, diabetic dogs, house dogs and dogs with behavior issues. He can pinpoint issues with the dogs that others just can not see. Steve is prompt, responsible and a super nice guy. You can not go wrong with Sassafras Canine Service Academy and Steve Basht.
Wonderful trainer! She was so patient with my dog who is very fearful and with my four year old who wanted to be part of the training. And she gave lots of tips and home work to follow up with! I would definitely recommend her without hesitation!
Deb is an extraordinary dog trainer and is well worth a visit or two, she is fantastic! Our dog loves her and so does our family. She is so positive and ready to spread her knowledge to everyone in the family to get the puppy or dog to be its best! Highly recommend hiring Deb! Especially after I was looking for a great puppy trainer and came upon her 5 star reviews..now we know why! Thanks Deb!!! Kaiser is doing great!
Nico is very knowledgeable and experienced in training dogs. My dog really likes him. I highly recommend him.
Lisa is not just a dog trainer she's a great person. She's very dedicated to her profession and cares about her clients. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trainer.
We recently completed Adult 1 Manners with our 10 month old puppy, Foxy. It was so much fun to watch her "get it". As this is our first dog, much of the training helped us get comfortable with her. House breaking, biting, and jumping has improved with lighting speed. Her leash skills are much improved; she learned to wait for us as we go out the a door; she has learned how to go home to her bed; she responds to the word, "come" so much better then before. She has also learned to sit, lie down, stay and to leave it. We are looking forward to starting the Canine Good Citizen class. Marion has a way of balancing her professionalism with her humor. She is available for questions during class or afterwards by phone or email. She has a way of letting you know that you need to work a bit more if you want your dog to improve without putting pressure on you to do so. In addition to the skills we have learned in class we have learned things about the best kind of leash for our dog; when to use what kinds of treats; the best way to crate and ideas for practicing at home with the emphasis on a few minutes throughout the day rather than time consuming practices. We feel it has been well worth the 1/2 hour drive to Molasses Creek and recommend Marion as a trainer. Her greatest strength is her undeniable love of dog
Steve's been great with our big baby Zeta. Zeta is a LARGE dog who gets over excited and lunges at other dogs while on a leash. Steve has helped train zeta (and us) to greet guests more calmly, walk better on a leash and come when called. We continue to work with Zeta on these skills but we wouldn't be where we are today without Steve. He has been an amazing trainer! I highly recommend him!
We had one session today and my dog responded very well. Trainer is professional, caring, and addressed all of our questions. We signed up for 5 additional lessons.
Heather accomplished more in 3 sessions than previous dog trainers who spent much, much more time, but were less knowledgeable about how to effectively handle my dog's behavioral problems. She went directly to the problem behavior and after each session had produced lasting results. Everyone says my dog is like a whole different dog while maintaining his great enthusiasm for being alive. Positive training and rewards all the way. I would highly recommend her services. She doesn't just talk, she delivers.
Steve has been working with Bentley and myself, for a couple weeks. But, this weekend Steve helped us with some issues of aggression towards my other dog Chuck. I believe with Steves advise and help we are heading in a great direction to end this problem, as a family.
My female Dog is still in training . But as so far , its been great having J-mac K 9 deal with the situation we have with the dog . Our communication has been really supportive for us . Thank you.
I have worked with Ryan with my both my personal dogs and my foster dogs, and he has made a world of difference with them. His years and years of experience show in his work and ability to handle any foster dog I've introduced him to, and trust me, there have been some EXTREMELY difficult ones. Not only has he helped me with difficult cases, he takes a personal interest in my fosters. There was one particular dog who needed a very specific home, and Ryan was more than willing to meet the potential family to ensure that it was the perfect fit for both the family and the dog. I will be forever grateful for all he's taught me and I highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a dog trainer!
I tried 2 other dog trainers before working with Matt Ferramosca @ OLK9 training...what a difference! Matt is the best trainer I have ever worked with! I have a 2yr old energetic and very verbal German Shepherd .After his 2 week board and train, Alex is a different dog! I have walked him off leash in a park during a very busy weekend with people kids bikes and other dogs and he was wonderful! I rec'd many complements but referred the compliments to Matt at OLK9 Training. And the training doesn't end there! Matt is always available via phone text or email for questions and concerns! I highly recommend Matt and OLK9 Training for all of your training needs for big and small dogs of all breeds!
If you are like me, I want to know if Bridget Gallagher is good without a lot of words. In short, my wife and I highly recommend Bridget for any issues you may be having. Even if you are not having issues, it was well worth the time to be taught how to handle your dog and to know what works with them. We had Sully doing more after 4 hours than 6 weeks of obedience classes.` Now for those who would like more info. Here is the longer story: We adopted Sully from a breeder in Maryland. We met Sully and his brothers and sisters at the breeder and fell in love. Sully was a very calm 5 ½ month old puppy that played well with his family and enjoyed our touch. His personality fit in perfectly. Sully came home with us and was an angel in the car. We introduced him to others and took him out to stores with no issues except he was shy. After a couple of weeks, he started barking and growing at anyone who came into the house and out in public. Our son, who is attending college, came home for a week and Sully would bark and growl at him every time he saw him. He never really warmed up to our son. This behavior seemed to be getting worse (nipping started) and we wanted to find someone who could help us. We were told he would be okay after going to obedience training which we were doing. The class taught us to give him treats. That never really did work. He would do the commands but it never helped with the barking and growling. I felt he had either a fear of people, lacked confidence or we were not doing something right. I owed several dogs and never had a problem. I reached out to a lot of trainers and dog behaviorists who said that they could help but I had seen mixed reviews with all of them. Some were using a prong collar and tough love. I just did not get a good feeling. I called my vet for a reference (who never got back to me) and others to no avail. I did some other searches and finally found Bridget. We saw her testimonials on line, talked with her on the phone and found other reviews not associated with her web site. My wife and I finally made a decision and had Bridget come to our house. When she arrived, Sully growled and barked at her when she met him outside. The next 4 hours were simple AMAZING. She explained to us what we had to do and how to do it. It was just SO simple. Bridget has a wealth of knowledge and experience with dogs and how and why they behave as they do. She is so committed to helping and educating you so you are able to work with your dogâs behavior problem. She even went with us to 2 pet stores to see strangers so she could show us how to stop the barking and growing and how to introduce him to strangers. By the end of the 4 hours, we had Sully: ⢠Being introduced to strangers with VERY little barking and almost no growling ⢠Staying in place with NO words â just hand motions and body language ⢠Sat at the door and staying there without rushing outside â waited to be told to go out ⢠No jumping or counter surfing Understanding how the dog thought was fantastic and so very cool. Just amazing what she taught us and what she could have us do that worked right away. The next day my wife and I took him separately on walks that met strangers and our training worked. He barked a little but we stepped in to stop the barking before the growling started. He calmed down and was able to greet the stranger with no issues.
If you are looking for a dog trainer, your search ends here. I purchased a 10-week-old Australian Cattle Dog in late September and about two weeks after, we were at our wits end with the dog, and considered taking the three and a half hour drive back to the breeder. From not being able to walk around the house without having your pant legs pulled at, to sleepless nights (or nights spent on the floor with the pup), and not being able to sit on the couch without being bit, it was becoming too much to handle. Then we decided to go to Steve at A-1 Total Control Dog Training. Years ago, I lived in a development with the most well trained dog Ive ever encountered. Being only about 5-6 years old, I vaguely remember my neighbors, my house, and even my friends, but I will never forget this dog. While living here, my family got a Great Pyrenees puppy that enjoyed nothing more than slipping out the door and taking off around the development. Luckily, when the trained dogs owner would see this, he would send his dog in a full sprint to circle around our puppy until we were able to get to her to bring her home. The dog was simply amazing, and was trained by Steve. Now, in just our fifth week of training, our puppy is on track to rival this dog from my childhood. Though she is still young and has a long way to go, Steve gives the tools and instruction for everybody to be able to do so, and we are confident she will get to this level of obedience. Do not waste your time or money elsewhere and take your dog of any age to Steve at A-1 Total Control Dog Training. It will be the best decision you will ever make for you and your dog.
Nicole is a fantastic trainer. She treated our dog as if he were her own! She has a real passion for training done in a safe, effective way. We were thrilled with the results. As we continued to train our dog on our own, we saw how important the foundation was that she had prepared for him. We recommended all our friends to her and have not had any regrets since!
Cyndi trained our dog for us. I never imagined our dog could learn so much. She also takes her and brushes her up on her basics as our pet sitter when we go out of town. We are so glad we found such a great trainer!

I train people to help their fuzzy family members to be well-behaved. I specialize in obedience, such as leash walking. I also do sit, come, and stay as well as other commands.

We train our dogs in obedience and sport-work control protection. We are pit bull-friendly and we love them here at Brodys. We watch dogs while people are at work and when they are away. Our training is like no other. We do not put a time frame on dogs. We stand behind it! We have trained police dogs and our customers highly praise our work.

I help train puppies to become well-behaved adult dogs with well manners. I help them be the pet you'll love.
