Nick is outstanding. I'm a single middle aged female and I invited him to my home. I'm cautious, but I read his reviews and trusted them...He was prompt, even calling me to say he was minutes away. He has never been late, he is energetic and excited to share his extended knowlege of both nutrition and fitness. He is insightful, encouraging and tailors his workouts to an individual. I never felt embarrassed, even though I huffed the whole way. He knows weightlifting, yoga and Pilates. This young man is sharp and driven. Hire him, without question. You get your monies worth, plus some. His enthusiasm is contagious. Any lack of progress is due to our own lack of follow through!!!

Working with Rebecca has finally enabled me to dispense with all the excuses and commit to consistently exercising over a long period of time. The workouts are challenging, interesting and enjoyable. Because she comes to my house, I have no excuse to drive past the gym on my way home or decide I will do something else instead. I think about being active on the days in between and I think about better nutrition all the time. I have said many times that working with Rebecca is the best thing I have ever done for myself.

I'm just a few sessions and already feel stronger after working with Josh! I have a healthcare background and I am still learning from him! He is very knowledgeable about fitness and nutrition and makes sure my form is perfect so I don't hurt myself like I always have when I lifted weights by myself! So far I feel that he is a good investment if you are seeking to learn the proper way to lift weights and get fit he is your guy! He pushes me to do more than I ever thought I could do physically and it's such a great feeling to reach that ceiling and break through it both physically and emotionally! I call him " Mr Four more!" Overall, I find his communication skills top notch as he is respectful of your time and energy! He is a kind person but a great motivator when it comes to getting the best results out of you! So far my experience has been great and I highly recommend Josh ! If you are at your level of complete frustration with your fitness and weight like I am then hire him and in one session he will change the way you think without you even knowing it! Hiring him was a great decision for me!

I worked with Jackie for 3 months. We did various workouts in her home which was convenient as I was apprehensive about going back to my gym (not being in the shape I was before). She tailored the workouts and meal plans for me, my energy level, my schedule with my kids, and also around a knee injury. This was all very helpful to have such personal attention. Jackie is extremely positive and motivating. Her energy is infectious. She has various equipment in her home. Jackie is very educated on all aspects of nutrition and fitness. She also practices what she preaches, even over halfway along her pregnancy! I am happy to say that after the time with Jackie I not only lost 4 % body fat that I also gained not just a trainer, education to take with me to continue my fitness journey, but a wonderful friend too!

For the past year, I’ve been working with Jessie and it’s improved my body composition and relationship with food. Not only is she knowledgeable in nutrition and fitness, she’s a lot of fun to be around. One of the things that makes Jessie stand out as a health and fitness coach is that she is an excellent listener. That translates to her offering exercises that directly help address any areas you want to improve. Working out with her is never painful – it is hard work – but you never feel that you’re unable to move the next day. Everything is done to ensure you can safely and effectively do the exercises. As a health coach, Jessie motto is not to deny or punish but to facilitate healthy eating habits. Other fitness trainers I’ve heard of institute a strict, bland diet. However, Jessie wants to make sure your diet is sustainable for the long term so she’s really good at offering healthy alternatives to guilty pleasures. I can’t recommend Jessie enough!

      About

Unlike other nutritionists, I take have a "holistic" approach. For example, I take into consideration a client's diet, lifestyle, genetics, health history, and much more. I do not treat or prescribe medicine; however, I do suggest vitamins, herbs, and other nutrients that will benefit my clients. I also assist with lifestyle improvements, grocery tours, healthy food preparation and cooking.

      About

My biggest strength is my passion for the scientific research that supports this lifestyle. I also gather a client's health history and goals for the consult ahead of time. I meet with clients for as long as they need to be comfortable with the information that I am providing and to have all of their questions answered. I invite them to bring a member of their immediate support system with them if they want as their support will be very helpful to my client as they test drive or adopt this lifestyle. I provide clients with a free copy of the e-book that I have for sale on my web site (including all subsequent editions). I provide clients with a planning guide. I provide them with email and phone support afterward to help them as subsequent questions/challenges arise. All of these added services help increase their chance of success and are offered as part of my one-time flat fee.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.
