Todd copy-edited my association's 50th Anniversary book/History of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. We had numerous challenges, such as strange formatting in Word, ridiculously large file sizes, et cetera. Todd not only overcame those challenges (which were on my end, not his!), but delivered the project on time with excellent edits. I'm generally a bit harsh on copy editors -- I used to be one full-time -- but his work elevated the copy to where it really needed to be & exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be working with him again! Highly recommend.
Todd Larson did an excellent job editing my book Rising Stars in Emerging Markets, published in 2013. He not only helped to cut the size of the text without changing the underlying message, but also did this under a very tight deadline. I wrote this book with the layperson reader in mind, which is always difficult to do, especially when writing about little-known names in emerging markets. But Todd helped to simplify the jargon to make the book easier to read, especially on my country-specific comments. I definitely recommend Todd for editing projects in business as well as non-business areas.
If you are looking for a great editor for your manuscript Dave Wheeler is a great one. He is fair and generous. We still talk on the phone and he still offers his recommendations and help for the next steps. I highly recommend him.
Diane was amazing! My book went through several filters, including my professional editor. She found several errors that needed to be addressed before it went to press. I was very impressed with her ability to see how some suggested changes were connected to other pages in the book. For instance, changing a term in a given chapter meant it needed to be changed in the study guide at the end of the book. Diane showed her ability to be flexible as her work included editing two PDF documents. One PDF was from the book printer and the other version included several new pages that needed adjustments from a graphic designer. Although, this is not the recommended way to proof read a 360 page book, she accepted the challenge with enthusiasm. Diane was able to return the project to me in a surprisingly short time, given the length of the book. She is not only a highly skilled editor and proofreader, she is also very personable. I highly recommend Diane Brown!
I co own a music company that published a compressive book focusing on music equipment. Lee proof read and edited the books text. We were very satisfied with her dedication and attention to detail.
The indexing of my book was done very professionally and the work was excellent.
I've worked with Monica for nearly 15 years on projects ranging from YA books to technical articles in trade magazines. I appreciate her careful evaluation of editorial content, attention to detail, proactive communication and on-time delivery. The last few projects have involved fiction and nonfiction book editing for my publishing company. As usual, she came in on time and under budget. I strongly recommend her to writers, editors, and publishers looking for a professional copy editor or proofreader.
Simply put: Kat Setzer rescued the first essay I ever wrote-- which went on to win a major award; which attracted the attention of a grant organization; which gave me a grant to research the subject of the essay further; which became a book that will now be published in two months. And who did I give a draft of that book to, before I dared give it to my editor? Kat. And once again, she gave me amazing, astute, precise feedback. Kat can see when an essay starts in the wrong place; when its events would have more impact in a different order (the issue with that first essay-- she was totally right, as always); when a story's characters are undeveloped; when a different sentence or word would have more impact in a cover letter or professional document. I can't count up how many things I've given her to read over the years, but she's made every single one of them better, and made me sound smarter and more creative every time. She *sees* how to make them better, sees it even when no one else can. Pure editing wizardry.
Bianca is an excellent writer and editor. She is great at helping you write any paper and any project. Every paper she helped me with I got an A. She will take the time to help you write the paper and understand the format and structure sentences. I have become an overall better writer from working with her.
I've worked with Debbie for 18 months but have been a friend for more than that. I love the way she writes (articles and other materials for our company). She is organized, logical, gets to the point but includes human stories and interactions that bring the information in focus. She is honest and real and this comes through in her writing.
It's a pleasure to work with someone who can communicate the core of your message even better than you can! Luanne "gets" it. A beautiful writer and excellent editor, Luanne is a joy to work with. A true professional!
Tom was very thoughtful in his feedback on my document (85,000 words) and often offered alternative phrasings in the comments section. He queried things he did not understand clearly and I never felt like he skirted over any sections without checking things properly. His rates were also extremely reasonable for the work done. I was thankful to have another set of eyes to check through my work.

As a Harvard-educated English major with an interest in psychology and, quite frankly, a boatload of neuroses (if you think one informs the other, you're probably right!), the intricacies of wordplay and effective messaging have always fascinated me. After graduation, I chose to go into the field of communications, which provided me with a solid foundation in PR and marketing writing styles. Despite trying to leave this field in my next role, the passion to write -- and, even more pressingly, to edit -- kept coming back to me and guiding the projects I sought out. In my full-time positions, I have ghostwritten legal blogs for the senior counsel of a major tech corporation; edited numerous academic manuscripts for successful submission and publication, as well as a doctoral dissertation; authored Commencement speeches for a university dean; and much more. My diverse background means I'm able to tackle pretty much any project and any content that is fired my way.
I have experience with journalistic forms (from a career at The Boston Globe), with academic communications (as news director, writer and editor at Brandeis University and Boston College), and with B2B communications (freelancing for McKinsey & Co.). Having traveled extensively during my years as a foreign correspondent, I am familiar with scores of countries and issues around the world, and am adept at working with people from different cultures. My blog is Annals of a Recovery Journalist
