Very patient, fun guy to take lessons from. Teaches both 3-finger and clawhammer. Plays in lots of bands in Austin, so it's also fun to hear stories of someone out there living the dream.

About

For any time you entrust to me I'll be dedicated to your progress. I'll be brutally honest yet encouraging; we'll acknowledge the problem and move to fix it the best way I know how. I'm a seasoned, successful teacher in addition to having played a lot of different music. I'm very ear and harmony focused. If you want to be able to identify what you're hearing and playing, then look no further.

I've been a student under Paul Clancy for 4 years now. In that time he has taught me not only how to play chords on the guitar, but how to make music while playing. I started playing because I could sing but I wanted to do more, Paul showed me these amazing strumming patterns which brought the song I showed him to life. And when I told him I wanted to play classical guitar and audition with classical guitar for college (with the audition day being 9 months away and me having never played classical guitar before) he told me "It's going to be hard and focused work since we only have nine months, but I know that you can do it". He supported me through think and thin and taught me everything I needed to know. And nine months later I walked into my audition with confidence and made it into the classical guitar program at the University of North Texas. Paul is an excellent teacher and mentor, with years and years of training and experience under his belt, but he is also a wonderful friend who has guided me, and many others, to learning how to play classical guitar, acoustic or electric guitar, banjo and even ukulele and making beautiful music while playing. Paul is one of my greatest friends and one if the wisest and respected men I know. Thank you for all you've done Paul. :)
