I was certainly apprehensive going the 1st time. I'm getting old and haven't exercised in many may years. I want to feel better going into my 60's before long. I didn't know if I was a lost cause or not. I'm not!!!! Evidently Richard believes I can get much better and I believe him. Now I just have to make sure I go!!!!! I'm honestly a bit terrified for my 2nd session but I'm going. Time to get 'in my body and outta my head'!!!! I will believe that he believes until I can believe for myself!(show more)
What do you love about your job?
What I enjoy the most is the ability to truly help better someone's life. At the end of the day, there is nothing more important than a person's health. As a personal trainer, I find great joy in my responsibility to provide quality service to each client. I have made many great friends and truly believe that I have the greatest job in the world. It has also allowed me to travel all over the country, spreading the gift of health and fitness.
What or who inspired you to start your own business?
When I graduated from the University of Texas - Austin, I thought of setting up wellness programs for large corporations. Unfortunately, there weren't too many jobs in the industry at that time, so I decided to become a personal trainer. Years later, I opened my own fitness studio, and the fight against chronic disease has inspired me. I love the freedom to create my personal programs which made a difference in many lives.

As a registered dietitian nutritionist, exercise physiologist and NASM certified personal trainer, I specialize in basic weight loss and weight loss therapies (including those with binge eating and emotional eating), sports nutrition for athletes and fitness types, vegetarian and vegan nutrition, and medical nutrition and exercise therapies for chronic conditions. I avoid trends and stick to the science and my experiences as a formally educated and trained nutrition and exercise professional. I do in-person services at the client's home or agreed upon location, webcam and phone nutrition coaching, performance-measured personal training (strength, flexibility range of motion, balance, lean mass gain and fat mass reduction), diet analysis and meal planning services, body composition and anthropometric assessment (free with in-person service, if desired), presentations, writing/blogging, videos, and e-mail help. I also have an office that can be used at 821 W 11th Street, Austin, TX 78701, however I must schedule more in advance due to sharing it with other healthcare professionals. Many clients prefer the in-home service. I am an in-network healthcare provider with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, Cigna, Humana, American Specialty Health, and Medicare, so if you have benefits, they may be used at the office. Check to see if you have benefits for seeing a licensed dietitian (usually "specialist" on most plans, but some cover 100% preventative visits). Whether you are looking to gain muscle, lose weight or lose fat, improve your blood lipid profile, manage your diabetes with nutrition and exercise therapies or manage your medical conditions with nutrition and exercise therapies, you will want to contact me. Since there is no barrier of entry to the nutrition or fitness field (anyone can call himself/herself a personal trainer or nutritionist), I think it is important that clients look at their professional's credentials. Anyone can call themselves an expert. I offer two levels of service, premium and basic. For more details, check out the services page of my website for what all is included and what the prices are. If you have a special request such as needing a speaker or health fair screener. I try to work for what a client's specific needs are. It doesn't hurt to ask.(show more)
I've been working with David for several months now. He's absolutely fantastic and builds a custom workout each week based on my goals. He's flexible, patient and gets results. And after vetting many trainers, he's actually somehow less expensive than the competition - despite the fact he brings more value. David comes highly recommended.(show more)
Richard is an excellent personal physical fitness trainer. I had a pulled muscle in my back and I needed to get into shape, so I could join my kids on our family ski vacation. I was telling this to a friend of mine (who I noticed was looking slimmer!) and she told me that she was working with Richard and gave me his info. When I first started with Richard, I could hardly do anything, but by the time I got to the slopes. I dominated! I had the best time! I totally believe that his attention to details, his personally designed work out for me, and his positive attitude, was the key to getting me back in shape and working out my back problems. I completely recommend Richard as a personal trainer.(show more)
Taye almost seems to come off as being more interested in you reaching your goals than you are. Any excuse you have not to do what needs to be done is kindly, but firmly curbed to ensure you DO get it done. One of the only trainers I've met that will go above and beyond in any situation to make YOU happy and SUCCESSFUL!!(show more)
Mark's workouts are EXACTLY what I wanted to find! No waiting for machines, no wondering how to do something for the best effect or how many to do of it or how to mix it up! His workouts are challenging but not discouraging, and the progress I have made since beginning a year ago is definitely encouraging. I am a 52-year-old woman with osteoporosis, so weight-bearing exercise is critical for me, and my medical reports since starting my workouts with Mark have either remained unchanged or in some areas actually improved. Mark is always professional, courteous, and attentive, and is always willing to talk about the mechanics of each exercise in the workout. Give him a try! He's AWESOME!(show more)
I trained with Mike for nearly a year and a half. I've learned after many gym memberships and numerous personal trainers, exercise is a science just like many other disciplines, and what's most important is that the person you're hiring has a few marbles in his or her head and possesses good knowledge. Mike really does and motivates by positive, not negative, reinforcement. He never make you feel inadequate or incompetent and makes time fly with his funny antics and humor. Lord knows when you're getting your a$$ kicked you want it to go quickly. Mike truly loves personal training and it absolutely shows in the way he helps people like me improve their quality of life.(show more)
