What is a boot camp class?

Fitness boot camps are a heart-pounding way to boost your fitness level. Boot camps are led by a fitness instructor and are based on the concept of military boot camps — intensive workout programs to get new recruits into shape, quickly. Fitness boot camps encourage camaraderie, and the group momentum helps participants get through fast-paced intervals of cardio, isometric training, strength training and endurance drills. Classes may range anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, and usually meet multiple days per week. Boot camps often run a specific duration of time, say four to six weeks, which creates a team-like environment for class members. Other boot camps run year-round and students purchase package pricing for classes, similar to subscriptions that allow them a set amount of classes per week or per month.

Boot camps can be held indoors at a gym, outdoors in a park or on a beach, in a backyard — anywhere there’s room for running, jumping and sweating. Some instructors also provide DVD and online boot camps. You can also find boot camps tailored to your heart’s desire, such as bikini boot camp, or boot camps for new mothers. Boot camps offer an intense workout and are usually led by energetic instructors pushing you to do your best, but unlike military boot camp drill sergeants, fitness boot camp instructors typically don’t use intimidation or punishment to spur you on. Check with your doctor before starting a boot camp if you have health concerns, and always let your instructor know ahead of time if you have injuries.

How much is a boot camp?

The cost of fitness boot camps depends on how often you go, the package you are purchasing (or if you are paying a drop-in fee), the location of the bootcamp, the equipment the instructors provide, and the background and reputation of the instructor. Smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living typically have lower rates for boot camp services than big cities and regions with a higher cost of living. If you’re paying per class on a drop-in basis, expect to pay anywhere from $12 to $25 or more, depending on the region and the instructor. When you purchase a package of classes, typically the more you buy at one time, the cheaper each class is. The same boot camp class might be $20 for a drop-in student, $15 for a student who pays for 10 classes per month, and $10 for a student who pays for 30 classes a month. Studio space can also affect costs, so if your boot camp takes place in a high-end gym with top-of-the-line equipment, the prices will likely be higher than a class that meets in an outdoor space with limited or no equipment. Shop around to find the right type of boot camp class and the right instructor for you.

I've been training with Steve for almost 6 months now, and he's helped me stay healthy by teaching me how to divide my food portions and macros and stay active during the week, as well as treating my hiking injuries with stretches and physical therapy.

I've had a great experience working with Versell! I've never enjoyed going to the gym to workout and often feel embarrassed when I do. Versell helped me overcome this obstacle as he made me feel more comfortable and confident with helping me make positive changes in my life. His approach to personal training goes beyond the physical aspects of training as he wants you to make lifelong changes that will help you become a better person overall. He tailored my program to my specific needs and he was always giving me the encouragement that I needed to stay motivated and on task. I would highly recommend Versell to anyone seeking a personal trainer.

I appreciate the support going through this journey. For me, my experience thus far has been: - Define/Identify baseline physical fitness level - Track progress, analyze results - Provide improvements and suggestions for non-workout days - Continue pushing the limits I lost 12 lbs of fat after training for three weeks. The results are real, even if the journey is painful. Glad I made this investment.

I have had a lot of personal trainers in the past, and Jerron immediately saw my physical weaknesses and started to make adjustments to make my workout fit my needs. He and everyone at WillPower are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and give you the tools needed to get in shape and healthy! I stated with them about a month ago and I’ve already lost 8 lbs and I am feeling much more energetic and healthy.

After years of neglecting my physical and nutritional health, I decided to take a leap of faith and hire a Personal Trainer. I had gained over 50lbs in 5 years, ending up a very out of shape 60+ year old woman. My search for an educated, personal trainer was meet when I hired Michael @ MJ Studios. Michael's degree in Biomedicine, nutrition with certifications in personal training, along with his personal journey gaining and losing 50lbs resonated with me. Within hours Michael and I made an agreement to meet the following week. On that day, there I was with my shoulders bent forward, dragging my feet and butt to our meet-up. Michael was standing outside watching me stumble forward. He immediately put me at ease. We discussed my goals, what, why and how he could help me accomplish these. Michael then asked me to walk on a treadmill, a test of sorts to see where I was and where he needed to start. Observing me trying to navigate the correct way to walk on the treadmill, Michael immediately recognized that my stride, gait and balance were not there. I, of course was oblivious. Who can't walk on a treadmill. Michael did'nt know about the broken foot i had walked on for over a year, nor comments regarding my "limping", tripping over things was an issue. I had'nt put two and two together. There could be no way I would fully benefit from an intense excercise program until I had corrected my gait, balance and form. Within two months, I learned through Michael's gait and balance excercises to walk correctly and balance. I know without a doubt, if I had hired a random Personal Trainer without Michael's knowledge and expertise, I would have not followed through, quitting or worse injuring myself. With excercise and nutrition I have lost 15 lbs. I now know the importance of eating a balanced diet, along with performing excercises correctly. My physical endurance has increased two-fold. What was once difficult is now an automatic response to the gait, balance and excercise training. Sleeping at night is now normal. I have energy which dramatically improved after 6 weeks. With this increase in excercise and nutrition, I tapered a medication giving my brain what it required naturally. I am grateful and thankful for the expertise, knowledge and commitment Michael has inspired in me. To go above and beyond what I thought I could do to being able to achieve the most I can do on this journey to excellant health.
