At first I was a little worried because I tried to confirm the service two days before it was scheduled and heard nothing back. Then I got contacted on the day of the service with the time that the crew would arrive. This was a move out deep cleaning. There was no furniture left in the house, just some rugs. I asked that they wash the woord floors and vacuum everything, clean out the fridge, oven and microwave, and clean out all the cabinets and wash the mirrors and windows from inside. Overall they did a good job and I am very happy with the results. Will use them again.

Jackie was very flexible with her schedule, and came by the house in the evening to groom our long haired cat. She was very friendly and courteous, and made sure she understood exactly what we were looking for. The trim came out great, and it was just an overall easy and pleasant experience. Definitely a great value as well. Thank you Jackie, we really appreciate your time and work.

We were going out of town for two days and provided detailed guidelines for taking care of our Abyssinian cat. Kat took care of everything nicely, and went above and beyond by sending regular updates about the cat and the house. She kept everything clean, and even sent photos of the cat during each visit.

I hired Trish at Ask Me Concierge to pack up the rest of my house, and do a make ready on my home. It was quite a big, ugly project, and she did a fantastic job. I was in a rush to get my house on the market, and asked Trish to complete the job asap. She brought in the rest of her team to get it done within my timeline, and they all did a great job. I would hire Trish again in a heartbeat for any type of "concierge" project. I highly recommended her. In fact, I'm quite sure the excellent job on the make ready had a lot if not everything to do with the speed in which my house sold--on the market for 3 weeks and then I received multiple offers. Thanks to Trish and her team for an excellent experience!

I can now travel without worry because Premier Pet TLC is punctual and trustworthy! I even get photos of my dogs and a report on the visit. They also report any issues they see with the house and take care of my plants. It’s been such a God send to find them and my dogs warmed up to Samantha very quickly. I highly recommend them!

I am very particular with who cares for my pups while I am out of town, and boarding them has always been a hard thing for me to do. So when searching for in house pet sitters, I found Karen at Gold Leash Pet Services. My first interaction with Karen was her coming over to my house to meet me and my fur babies for a consult. The love she showed for my animals when she came to meet them was authentic and I knew they would be in good hands with her! She is incredibly professional, responsive, and a no brainer to hire. It is hard to find professional pet sitter that will care for your animals like they are their own, so I am forever grateful I landed her! When I returned home, my house was in better shape than I left it, my pups adequately loved on and in good care! Knowing I had Karen taking care of them the same (if not better) than I would do myself allowed me to truly enjoy my vacation and not worry about their care. Now when Karen comes over to sit, they act like they don't even know their owner! She is all they care about!

The last week in May, Jade was hired to pet and house sit for my partner and I while we were on a cruise. Being the OCD dog parents that we are, we left Jade a very specific set of instructions, and asked her to be extremely cautious with our boy dog, a rescue who is terribly fearful of all new people. In no time, Jade was able to get him to sit on her lap and pose for pictures. Additionally, we came back to a house that was cleaner than when we left. I absolutely recommend Jade's services without hesitation.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is house sitting?

A house sitter watches your house while you are away for work or vacation, or if you have to be away for an extended period. House sitters can also provide pet-sitting services, staying in your home and caring for your pet while you are away. The house sitter can say overnight in your home while you’re gone, or stop by once a day to ensure everything is in order if your pet doesn’t need overnight supervision. Reptiles and most cats are just fine with daily visits and feeding.

House sitting provides major advantages to the homeowner. A regular presence in your house deters break-ins and theft. Home safety issues such as water leaks get noticed and dealt with right away, so you don’t come home to big problems. A house sitter can bring in your mail daily, care for your houseplants, and provide home safety and peace of mind.

How do I find a reliable house sitter?

House sitting can help keep your home safe and well cared for so you can be worry-free while you’re away for work or play. There are several steps you can take to make sure you hire a trustworthy house sitter and do your part to be a responsible host. One of the best ways to ensure a safe home is to hire a professional house sitter. Here are some key points to look for when hiring a house sitter:

  • Reviews and referrals: When searching for a house sitter, always read reviews. Previous experiences will indicate how the house sitter will care for your home while you’re away.
  • Contract: Sign a clearly written contract outlining services to be provided (e.g., mail in each day by 5 p.m.), the daily rate you are paying, and how long the services will be provided. You can also include any agreed-upon house rules in the written contract.
  • Your part: Leave important phone numbers (vet, emergency contact, etc.) and information on where to find emergency items like the circuit breaker and the fire extinguisher, and have a credit card on file with the veterinarian in case of emergencies if the house sitter is watching your pets.
