Blast & his team were awesome! He performed numerous jobs for me (tile/floor laminate installation, wall repair, painting, etc...) He continuously provided feedback & offered his expert opinion on several projects....which turned out fantastic. He had no problem deviating from what was initially agreed upon just to please his customer. You definitely won't go wrong choosing his services.

The installation went off without a hitch. Isacc was knowledgeable about the products, and quick to provide a quote. He and his team was able to start the project two days after we met. Rider was very informative and thorough through the whole process in our roof repair. I really liked the fact that he uses a drone to point out and show my husband and I the problem areas in our roof. He showed up early and on time for consultation and work to be done. Provides a very detailed invoice to be submitted to insurance company. Any questions he is available to answer fairly quickly. Response time is superb, scheduling was easy. Will definitely be contacting One Call Houston Roofing for our roofing maintenance in the future.

DeHart roofing replaced our flat roof for a very reasonable price, and did not require any payment until the work was complete. They were very timely, very responsive, and showed great ownership on all warranty follow-up issues.

I had all but wonderful experience with PES construction on their roofing job. The quote was detailed with all the explanation of what to expect and what's the pricing of the labor and materials used(breaking down to what materials used further) and the men were really punctual and worked all day and finished the whole roof in 2 days. I am definitely recommending them to my friends. True professionals with neat job.

Whitmans Contracting and Roofing was hired to tear off the existing 26 year old roof on my home and replace it with a new roof. Peter Whitman, the owner/manager came out and quoted a price on the roof replacement. Peter inspected my roof and attic, we discussed the material to be used and the different options for roofing components along with my concerns about the decking due to leaks. Peter is honest and gave a fair price for the work being performed. Peter and his crew performed the tear off and replacement of the roof in one day. They replaced only decking material that had issues. There was only minimal decking that needed replaced, so there was no additional charge for the materials. Peter and his wife also can out and did a roof and attic inspection after completion of the project along with a secondary sweep for nails. I am very pleased with the quality of the work and service. Had our first two big rain storms and it is nice to have a sound roof with no leaks. I would highly recommend Whitmans Contracting and Roofing for your roofing project.

Very helpful staff (Milton) made booking a full day project easy- within 48 hours of request, they set me up with two people (Manuel and Carlos) to do a paint job and to install cabinet hardware. The paint job on the 3 bedrooms (one with ceiling), a half bathroom were excellent. The cabinet hardware installation was also very good. Pricing was competitive, and I do not feel that I was ripped off. I was happy I found this company and will definitely refer them and use them again in the future. Thank you Manuel, Carlos and Milton!

Very professional in their work and took care of all the paperwork, inspections & construction permits. Kept me well informed at all times during the job how things were going and dealt with the Texas Windstorm insurance for me. Was prompt getting to the job when he said he would and made sure the roof where it was leaking at was temporary fixed due to a rain storm coming in the area so it wouldn't leak any more causing more damage. Very courteous and went well out of his way to help me and answer all my questions. Many thanks to Jim Carlin and Einstein Roofing.

ALL I HAVE TO SAY 24/7 ROOFING IS AWESOME. THEY CAME OUT WHEN NO OTHER ROOFING COMPANY WOULDN'T. I NEEDED TO CHANGE OUT ONE ROOF JACK AND OTHER ROOFING COMPANIES TOLD ME THAT THEY CAN FIT THE PROBLEM AND CHARGE ME A FEE OF $650 WHICH I THINK IT WAS VERY EXPENSIVE WITHOUT EVEN COMING TO MY HOME. THAT SCARED ME A LITTLE. 24/7 ROOFING WAS MY HERO AND THEY CAME OUT THE SAME DAY AND PROVIDED ME WITH A ESTMATE AND TOLD ME WHENEVER I AM READY TO DO THE JOB TO CALL THEM AND THEY CAN HAVE SOMEONE OUT THE VERY NEXT DAY. I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THEIR SERVICES AND FOUND THIS COMPANY TO BE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND I IMMEDIATELY HIRED THEM ON THE SPOT WHICH I NEVER DID THIS BEFORE BUT I WENT WITH MY GUT FEELING AND AT THE END I WAS VERY SATISFIED WITH THEIR SERVICES. OVERALL I GIVE THIS COMPANY A TOP 10 HIGH RATION FOR THEIR NUMBER 1 SERVICES IN HOUSTON AND SPECIALLY AFFORDABLE RATES AT THE SERVICES THEY PROVIDED. WHENEVER I NEED SERVICES IN THE FUTURE I WILL CONTACT THEM TO COME BACK OUT TO MY HOME. THEY ARE TRUSTFUL AND WON'T TAKE ADVANTAGE LIKE SOME COMPANIES OUT THERE THAT TRIED TO DO TO ME. THEY OFFER MULTIPLE SERVICES WHICH I FOUND TO BE VERY INTERESTED IN MY CASE. I AM NOW AND FOREVER A 24/7 ROOFING CUSTOMER WHO WILL ALWAYS USE THEIR SERVICES. THANK Y'ALL SO MUCH FOR THE HONEST SERVICES.

Danny and his crew did an excellent job roofing our home and garage. He was very helpful during the company selection process, so we hired Danny. He did an excellent job ensuring everything was done right and cleaned up. Danny also helped organizing a gutter job for us, too! Cannot say enough positives and look forward to using his services again for additional exterior work!

Lan-Bar company gave me a great experience in getting a new roof! Lindsey was so nice and professional from our initial conversation and even gave a follow-up call to make sure the roof was to my liking. The crew that installed the roof was great as well. They cleaned up well and I haven't found a nail yet and it's been a over a week since they installed the roof. The price was also extremely reasonable! I would definitely recommend this company and plan on using them in the future to install a patio!

I own a home with a cement tiled roof which started to show a few leaks around the exhaust vents from my furnaces after about 9 years from the original installation. All leaks were quickly fixed, reasonable price for the service from this great family owned business. The original roof was installed by Brinkmann roofing, now they're Petersen Dean. I initially called out Petersen Dean to get a roofing bid, Petersen Dean thought this job was too small and declined to fix the problems. From now on I'll stick with the smaller roofing contractors who will work on the roof like it was their own! I highly recommend Modern Roofing, if I have another problem with my roof or even family or neighbors roof, I recommend Modern Roofing.

Brad Briggs and his team are extremely technically competent, and professional. They worked with us on the insurance issues and on the design of the new roof, add-on gutters and some insulation updates. Also sorted out some solar-powered powered attic fans for us in "dead-zone" areas where the new ridge vents would not be effective. Great technology on the roof, vents, valleys and other aspects. Overall, we got a great new roof and other upgrades that made our attic cooler and lowered our AC bill. The team was also very conscientious during installation, and thorough in their clean-up. We are very satisfied with the work, and have recommended TX Engineered Roofing to several friends, and they also have received a great job experience. Highly recommended...

I hired Charlie to repair a leak in my roof. I figured it to be an extensive job but he took pictures and explained how to permanently fix it easily without me having any doubts in his Capability. Very proficient and professional. It took a couple days for him to get to me, but once I saw his work, I understood why he was so busy! Thanks Charlie can't wait to see what your plans for my kitchen are!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

    • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

    • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
      • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
    • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
    • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
    • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
    • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
    • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
