Rider was very informative and thorough through the whole process in our roof repair. I really liked the fact that he uses a drone to point out and show my husband and I the problem areas in our roof. He showed up early and on time for consultation and work to be done. Provides a very detailed invoice to be submitted to insurance company. Any questions he is available to answer fairly quickly. Response time is superb, scheduling was easy. Will definitely be contacting One Call Houston Roofing for our roofing maintenance in the future.

Even before I hired Reynaldo with Aztec Contractors I felt like I was being treated extremely well. As a single lady, I was a bit concerned when I first started looking for roofing contractors to bid my roof project. I don't have a male significant other and was worried I would be taken advantage of. Reynaldo guided me through the estimate process, showing patience and answering all my questions thoroughly. While another contractor was at my home doing needed repairs prior to the roofing job, Reynaldo stopped and met with them to get all needed information so that his crew would be prepared when they began their part of the roof work. When we met up to sign the contract Reynaldo made the drive all the way down to my office in Sugar Land so that I wouldn't be inconvenienced and I was greeted with a hug like an old friend would receive. He is a true gentleman and he treats his customer with great respect and dignity. I will definitely use his services for any future needs and have already begun giving out his name to friends and family as a outstanding company to deal with. The value I have received from the new roof on my house is well over my anticipation. I would also like to say that the crew who worked on my house were extremely helpful during the entire process and again, they answered all the questions I had and were very thorough when it came time to clean up after the roof was complete. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the roof installation I received and will always refer anyone asking to Reynaldo and Aztec Contractors!

I had all but wonderful experience with PES construction on their roofing job. The quote was detailed with all the explanation of what to expect and what's the pricing of the labor and materials used(breaking down to what materials used further) and the men were really punctual and worked all day and finished the whole roof in 2 days. I am definitely recommending them to my friends. True professionals with neat job.

Whitmans Contracting and Roofing was hired to tear off the existing 26 year old roof on my home and replace it with a new roof. Peter Whitman, the owner/manager came out and quoted a price on the roof replacement. Peter inspected my roof and attic, we discussed the material to be used and the different options for roofing components along with my concerns about the decking due to leaks. Peter is honest and gave a fair price for the work being performed. Peter and his crew performed the tear off and replacement of the roof in one day. They replaced only decking material that had issues. There was only minimal decking that needed replaced, so there was no additional charge for the materials. Peter and his wife also can out and did a roof and attic inspection after completion of the project along with a secondary sweep for nails. I am very pleased with the quality of the work and service. Had our first two big rain storms and it is nice to have a sound roof with no leaks. I would highly recommend Whitmans Contracting and Roofing for your roofing project.

Mr. Rios and his crew were very professional, the job started and ended as stated it would be. the clean up was perfect , not one piece of old roofing or tar paper were left. I've even asked my Rios to quote more jobs for me. he wasn't the cheapest quote but was the most professional.

When I was selling my house earlier this year I had one buyer insist I needed to replace the entire roof. Thankfully I'd had A&K Roofing do some maintenance on my roof a few years earlier, so I called them again. Todd inspected my roof, gave me an honest assessment of its condition, recommended and completed repairs, and gave me an inspection report I used to negotiate with a new family who bought my house. He also was kind enough to remove an old satellite dish and repair the shingles where it had been so it wouldn't look so bad while on the market. If you want an honest roofing company, call A&K Roofing.

I received three quotes. Mr. Garcia's quote was much less than the other two quotes due to the amount of shingles that were necessary to reroof my house. I told him the other roofing contractors quoted more shingles than he was and asked what if it takes more? He said the difference would be on him due to a wrong estimate. When he came to sign contract, he remeasured my roof and said he was correct in his estimate. Mr. Garcia saved me some serious $$$$. I was so happy with the one day roofing job, I am hiring him to do more work for me as well as my neighbor is hiring Mr. Garcia to do work for him as well. Thank you Robert Garcia for you honesty, integrity and one day service...!

Joe Weldon helped us with a roof leak. He climbed on our roof and took pictures to show that our builders had not sealed any openings on our roof! He ran to Home Depot and finished the whole project within the hour on the Friday before a holiday weekend. All for a very fair price, as well! He kept us updated and informed throughout the whole process. I really recommend him for any roofing repair needs!

“Ace” was very professional, he showed us before and after photos of the work as well as videos as he went along, he cleaned up our tile roof and even replaced a few that were broken, here are the actual photos of our house. I recommend Eric highly and even gave his information to my friends and family. He also did some work on my parents shingle roof as well.

I had several local roofing total replacement estimates for my home. I placed a request for quotes on Thumbtack and received a response and quote from Campbell Roofing within several hours. The quote was very much in line within priors quotes. I discussed the quotes with a representative of Campbell and scheduled a site visit. The visit and quote was impressive, I contracted with Campbell roofing to have the roof replaced. The work was scheduled and completed within 1 week of the agreement including written warranty . This is exactly what I desired, the workers were thorough and thoughtful of my property, they moved all plants and yard items out of harms way, they were conscience of our coming and going by leaving pathway clear. The clean up was excellent without roofing nails all over. I would recommend Campbell Roofing based on my experience. The job looks great and went well.

Great price on a lifetime Certainteed shingle warranty. The installation appears to be good and the roof looks good. The drip edges around the garage could be better. Some bare fascia is now exposed. Cleanup afterward was mediocre. Still finding nails and pieces of old shingles. .

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
