Originally went in for nutrition services and ended up hiring Will as both nutritionist and personal trainer. Going into the third week and I am already feeling a big difference in my mood: since I got morning sessions, I go into work with a much better attitude and I feel more alert. I needed someone to keep me accountable to really make a change in my nutrition and Will has definitely helped me every step of the way. Will explains every exercise from the form, what muscles we are targeting, to any modifications if needed. Any question I have had Will has thoroughly answered. He has been very responsive from the beginning, a great communicator and motivator. I’d definitely recommend Will to anyone looking to make a serious change in their lifestyle.

Jose is an amazing personal trainer. I didn't realize how important is food for life. He taught me to eat healthy. It is not about a meal plan. I finally changed my life losing weight and now I know what and when to eat. Definitely great trainer, great nutritionist and great human being!!!

Bryan, is an amazing nutritionist. I have known him for 10 years. I have had other nutrionist in the past. But, nobody has given me the guidance as him. He pays attention to the details. I always knew about how to train, but never knew what to eat. I was afraid of eating, because I thought I would get "fat". I over trained, and over did cardio everyday. I didn't realize I was burning away muscle. I couldn't understand why I had so much fat, even though, I wasn't eating as much. Brian reminded me that I was lacking nutrition. He said " You are driving from Houston to Dallas and back on a half of tank of gas". Now, I know exactly what he meant by that. In order for your body to burn fat and gain muscle, its all about the correct macros. The meals plans are simple and easy to cook. Not only are you dieting on body, but you are also accomplishing a "mental diet". What I mean is, all negativity and stress, bad thoughts go away as well. Reach out to him

I hired Ryan as a nutritionist. We've been working together for 2 months now. In those 2 months he has helped me turn around my diet and life. I am a type 2 diabetic and he has helped me lower my blood sugar and keep it stable. I off medication now thanks to dieting using his meal plans and working out. I've already lost 10 lbs! I would recommend him to anyone!

I had been to several weight loss programs in the past but because of a medical condition, it was incredibly difficult for me to lose weight. Adrian was very good at explaining things to me in a way that was easy to understand and helped me feel confident in making changes in my life. Eventually, I was able to get my family to change along with me because of Adrian's guidance and now my whole family is healthier than ever before. Even my step dad is eating better! Adrian is all about empowering his clients and he has taught me so much about nutrition and being healthy both physically and spiritually. I cannot afford, time wise, to see him anymore but we still keep in touch and he's a great person as a nutritionist and as a friend!

I've known & worked with Ricki since 2011. We began by evaluating my diet and putting me on a 21 day cleanse using supplements & real food. This was a wonderful learning experience for me as well as a jump start to my new life. Through the years Ricki & I have continued to work together to better my mental & physical health through personal coaching, sharing recipes & discussing lifestyle changes that will continue to move me forward in my healthy lifestyle.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.
