Called Sweetwater for a clogged drain in the backyard in our new house. We quickly found out it was much more serious when he showed me what he had dug up in the backyard. Unfortunately it needed replaced but was prompt on an estimate and time to come back and repair. Has also helped point out other small things that have been helpful to replace.

Halo Services connected my new under-mount kitchen sink to the drain lines using new piping, a new garbage disposal, and my kitchen faucet. Halo was on time, completed work in a timely manner, and was thoughtful to leave additional pipework to accommodate a water filter system. Additionally, if any issues come up with what was installed, Halo will address them and do so quickly. Halo Services is very knowledgeable and I would recommend his services.

I don't think I have ever worked with a professional with more integrity than Gary. He made 2 trips to my home, the first to assess and the second to do the scheduled repairs to a leaking drain pipe from my kitchen. There was no trip charge! He made one cut and found the problem. He did a fantastic job AND made some adjustments to my front door so that it would close easier at N/C because it was bothering him! I'm positive that this would have been an insurance claim and $$$$ of dollars with a Corporate "chain" plumber. I was expecting to pay more than what he charged. Thanks Gary! I'll call you again.....

Do not be fooled into thinking that Drain Cleaning is something you can handle hourself . while there are products on the market that offer a do-it yourself remedy, these often only provide a temporary fix and can cause bigger problems down the road. Geovanny Orrego has tje proper Tools to rid your drains of Clogs without damaging uour pipes or your property in tje process.

Daniel fixed my 1950's GM Refrigidaire refrigerator when most other maintenance contractors wouldn't even give it a look over. Fair price, honest guy, and trustworthy. Will definitely call back when needed again.

With the recent "winter storm", my outside pipes froze, and one of the pipes connected to my water filter/softener system would eventually burst. I was a despondent when my water was no longer running, knowing that it would be unlikely to find someone who would be willing to assess my problem with roads iced over, and closed in many cases. Mr. Flores said he would come, although had to postpone with road closures. I wrote it off as the reality of the situation, but he continued contacting me, letting me know he would make the effort later in the afternoon. I did not want him out on dangerous roads, but he made the effort for me. When he arrived, he diagnosed the problem, and returned to complete the project after getting needed materials. He was respectful of my situation, and he was courteous to make sure he did not drag mud through my house from his boots. He did a phenomenal job, and although I was expecting an outrageously high cost due to the emergency of the situation, the price was more than reasonable. If you are in doubt, this is the guy you need to go with. You will not be disappointed.

Chris repaired a portion of my 8' fence that had blown down during a wind storm. He put extra bracing on it & inspected the entire fence to make sure that other parts of it didn't need boards replaced, etc.

I could not be happier with the job done by Robert and his crew. Robert is knowledgeable, prompt, courteous, and charges a very fair price. He hooked up the plumbing and drain to my new sink and installed a new dishwasher. He rebuilt the configuration under my sink (to make more storage space) and made sure my dishwasher properly drained. I have already recommended him to my friends and family and I will definitely hire him again when needed. Thanks Robert, and thanks to Thumbtack for sending him our way.

Had several plumbers stop by for non-emergency free estimates for a leaking drain and leaky faucet. Mike provided an extremely competitive estimate and I hired him on the spot. His knowledge and professionalism were winning characteristics. The jobs were completed within his time estimate and met my every expectation and he warranted his work for 2 years! I highly recommend him to solve your plumbing issues.

I had 4 faucets that had to be replaced - 3 sinks and a roman tub. The job was done well, he was on time and cleaned up the mess better than a lot of contractors generally do. He was very professional and came out to give an accurate estimate before the job instead of guessing what it might cost and adding on extra costs later.

Jack hammered bathroom floor to move toilet location and installed a new shower drain. Ran the water lines to new locations for toilet and shower valve. Fixed a second toilet that was a chronic problem. Works great now. Installed a new vanity and lavatory. Fast, clean, courteous service. Clearly he's done this before. Fair price and excellent work.

Shorty was pretty good. He came to my house to clear the drain and when he arrived he did just that and brought to my attention a potential disaster if it was not taken care of. So I hired him, he and his crew came out after new years day to start the job and they finished a couple of days later. So we are back flushing freely and washing with no problems. Thanks shorty

Zach came to change out a broken bathroom vent fan and re-seal a window that leaked during the last storm we had in Houston. He was very knowledgeable and I appreciated that he cleaned up the area after installing the vent fan. I also appreciated his honesty when he saw some deferred maintenance items but didn't pressure me into fixing them right away, but explained when a good time to fix them would be. His price was very fair.

I've only recently met A&M and they've only done one project for me so far. But I have been impressed with what I've seen. Their work is good and the prices are reasonable. But what makes me ecstatic about A&M is that they show up when they say they will. None of this "oh I'm out in Richmond" when they have an appointment with me at the same time. I've had so much trouble with flaky contractors this year, and it's only gotten worse since Harvey. These guys show up when they say they will. I may have found my new go-to contractor. I had a drain leak in one of the properties I manage. The plumber had to cut out sections of the drywall and even a section out of the siding outside. After several failed attempts with other contractors, I found A&M. They showed up on time and made the repairs. The work looks good and they did a good job of matching the paint where needed. I sent them to another property today to give me an estimate for a project. They said they would be there at 3:30, and they were there at 3:30. I have never given such a long and flowery review for anyone. I usually just click the stars and move on. But I am so happy that I've found someone who actually does what they say they will do. I feel they deserve it. Before/after pics attached.

Sorry so late with my review. Father and son team came out to lower the ground on the side of my house and install a French drain. They worked quickly and got the job done faster than expected. Great experience. Would hire them again!

Scott gave me a great estimate on flood and other storm damage that happened to my home barely a month apart. Not only did he repair damage but he improved the home by tearing out old vinyl siding and replacing with cement fiber. He coordinated carpet replacement after sheetrock and insulation was replaced. Because I live in Colorado and could not be there for these two major projects as well as all the other house repairs requested he would send me pictures via email so I could see progress. Thank You S&J Remodeling. I am so happy I found a great contractor.

Not too long ago we had some really wicked storms here in North East Oklahoma. One of the storms caused a lot of damage to not only my home, but I also had several rental properties that had been damaged in regards to Roofing, Siding, Windows, Gutters etc Dealing with contractors and home improvement issues can be very unnerving and in my case causes alot of fear and anxiety... I am a graphic designer.. so if you can imagine I am far from a handyman.... I gave Ben my first claim on one of the rental properties, as I just wanted to test the waters a bit before jumping right in.... I signed the agreement with Ben on a wednesday and by the following Friday I was so impressed with the way they handled business I not only gave them all my rental properties, but I also let them assist me in the claim on my house..... Working with Ben & Leakproof was a great experience.... They completely relieved me of the burden of stress... They made sure that the insurance companies treated me fairly & the level of craftsmanship these guys stand behind is phenomenal..... Once you find a contractor you like, its like going to the doctor!!!! You won't go anywhere else (except to get a 2nd opinion, which Ben urged me to do so I could be privy to the level of fairness and customer service I was receiving)

Manny is awesome and extremely knowledgeable about anything plumbing related. We actually had drain issues with our sewer (on the driveway) and Manny came out, used a camera to inspect it, and gave us such helpful information about what needs to be done next. His price is extremely reasonable, and very helpful for those on a tight budget. He is professional, polite, friendly, and again, very knowledgeable about what he does. I highly recommend Aqua Long Plumbing for anyone who needs a reputable, trustworthy company!

This was the absolute best experience I have ever had with a home repair contractor. I had them quote on replacing a water heater in my upstairs attic. I went with this quote because they quoted on an A O Smith brand water heater, which I know is made in the USA and because they offered a 3 year warranty on their labor. I asked for a bid Sunday night and received 4 quotes within minutes. Lightning Companies was able to do the work the next day and showed up on time ready to work. They were very careful to cover my carpet and completed the job within 2-3 hours. They supplied all the new parts necessary to install a water heater for the price they quoted and even turned my water heater a quarter turn to put the controls in a better location for me to do routine draining, etc. They left the work site clean and gave me all the papers that came with the water heater. I am extremely satisfied with this whole experience and will call this company in the future because they also do other types of work and repairs. I will definitely recommend this company and, in fact, have already told my younger brother about them as he is looking to have his water heater replaced.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

  • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
  • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
  • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.
