Johnny did a great job officiating my mom's wedding, he was super flexible and willing to make sure her day was perfect. He's responsive, professional and an all around nice guy. Thanks Johnny!

Mike was very helpful and played the music we discussed prior to our wedding. He had a great attitude and kept the dance floor bumping. The lack of 1 star is mostly due to having multiple guests at our ceremony tell us they could not hear us exchanging vows or only heard parts of our ceremony. otherwise everything else went to plan. thanks Mike!

If this is your first time getting your makeup done professionally, choose Linda!! She is so kind and patient, I ran a little late to my appointment but she was still so professional and her work is amazing. My wedding day was outside and it was hot! But my makeup stayed put, I was so shocked. Choose Linda, she's great and you won't regret it

After my initial DJ backed out about 2 weeks before my wedding, I found Eric on Thumbtack and he was literally a life saver. I planned my wedding long distance and he was able to help me put together playlists and a wedding program within a week. He was so great at improvising when things wouldn't go as planned and was EXCELLENT at judging the crowd's vibe and what music would get them up and dancing. He even showed off some of his hip hop dance moves which really got the crowd going. He is reasonably priced and just did an amazing job overall. If you are looking for a DJ for any event, look no further because Eric is the whole package!

Where do we start?! DJ Duke was definitely the highlight of our wedding reception. We did one of the packages that included a gobo and uplighting. With the light blue lights all around the ballroom and the gobo of my husband's and my name on the dance floor, the hotel ball room was transformed into a fairytale setting. DJ Duke also read the crowd very well and played the right music to keep everyone dancing all night! His price was very reasonable and we highly recommend him!

Cassandra exceeded my high expectations and made my very nervous daughter feel comfortable on her wedding day. Cassandra was outstanding and excellent in every way! I highly recommend her.

I've been meaning to write this review for a long time. Our wedding was in September 2016. George went way out of his way to accommodate us at our small outdoor wedding. He even became a wedding coordinator of sorts in helping us keep everything on track. After all of our important dances and events, during the all dance part of our reception it started raining. He had a tent set up for his equipment so he kept playing. However, the rain got so bad that he did end up having to pack up which we understood completely! (Rain is supposed to be good luck anyway right?) He apologized and said if we ever needed music for a birthday party or something of the sort he would happily play the music for free for us. Which was such a kind gesture. We cannot say enough good things. Thank you George for helping make our day so great!

Brey & Co officiated our wedding on March 10, 2018 and did a beyond amazing job! I would highly recommend Brey & Co to everyone! Even when my maid of honor forgot the ring Chris did a fabulous job of continuing with the service without anyone noticing the “glitch”. Thank you Brey & Co for being a part of our special day! You surpassed all of our expectations.

My husband and i hired DJ X for our wedding reception! Wow! He is such a professional and made the process seamless and uncomplicated! He is well-prepared ahead of time and takes pride in quality work. He played every song we wanted plus mixed it up with several more awesome jams that kept the dance floor hot all evening! I highly recommend him and he will be the only DJ I hire in the future! You get much more than just someone to play your songs with DJ X, you get a truly genuine expert who will enhance the mood of your event tremendously. If you want to feel confident about how you spent your money, go with DJ X, you and your guests will be glad you did!

We hired D NICE to play music for our wedding ceremony and reception. The wedding was at our house, so he met with us several months in advance and had a great idea on how he would light the space. Everything went really well that evening, the blue accent lights looked amazing with our decor and he kept our guests dancing all night. Thanks for helping us have such a memorable evening!

My wedding was a BLAST! All our guest enjoyed dancing the night away, he arrived on time, his lighting was perfect! He took any random song request from our guest and had everyone enjoying their favorite songs. He is organized which was so helpful because I was very overwhelmed at the time. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.
