Blast and Team did an outstanding job of installing a Cedar & Metal Roof Gazebo (Yardistry Kit). The project was fairly involved, but Blast put the extra time in to finish the job and clean up site. Will use him in the future.

After being extremely disappointed in the drywall and painting work done by a previous contractor, I hired Isaac Delcid to redo the previous contractor's work and then continued to use him on one project after another. Not only did he make the walls that were floated and painted by the prior contractor perfectly smooth, he astounded everyone working on my renovation project by being able to float an extremely textured room and ceiling to a perfectly smooth finish. On a Sunday, He even provided free examples of how the finished wall would look because I had a hard time believing it could be floated smooth. Later, his tile expert installed some challenging tiles in a bathroom at no charge to demonstrate that these tiles could also be installed with a perfectly smooth surface. I was amazed enough to have Isaac Delcid's crew rip out all of the tiles in three other bathrooms that were poorly done by a previous contractor and reinstall them perfectly. Well worth the money. Isaac Delcid is an extremely good communicator, generates professional proposals, is able to do the work quickly and efficiently, and never fails to impress me. I have had at least nine contractors on this project and Isaac Delcid is definitely the best in the business. I almost regret writing this positive review, because I want to keep him for my own projects only!

This was one of the absolute best experiences I`ve ever had with a contractor! The roofing repair work was exceptional and everyone was so professional and friendly. We were given so much good information and recommendations for future additions and cost saving items we should install ourselves. Rider and his team really care about their customers and will be my first call for any future repair needs and we will also be hiring them in the future to replace our entire roof. They really should be your One Call, you won`t be disappointed!

DeHart Roofing provided excellent customer service and exceeded our expectations. Prompt, efficient, and excellent communication, arrived on time, was prepared, and was professional throughout. James DeHart genuinely cares about providing a quality service and product to his customers which was truly evident when he returned to repair a separate leak that occurred in a separate section of roofing and provided the repair as a warranty service although it was not related to the original repair. It is difficult to find businesses that exceed our expectations like DeHart Roofing has.

I had all but wonderful experience with PES construction on their roofing job. The quote was detailed with all the explanation of what to expect and what's the pricing of the labor and materials used(breaking down to what materials used further) and the men were really punctual and worked all day and finished the whole roof in 2 days. I am definitely recommending them to my friends. True professionals with neat job.

Whitmans Contracting and Roofing was hired to tear off the existing 26 year old roof on my home and replace it with a new roof. Peter Whitman, the owner/manager came out and quoted a price on the roof replacement. Peter inspected my roof and attic, we discussed the material to be used and the different options for roofing components along with my concerns about the decking due to leaks. Peter is honest and gave a fair price for the work being performed. Peter and his crew performed the tear off and replacement of the roof in one day. They replaced only decking material that had issues. There was only minimal decking that needed replaced, so there was no additional charge for the materials. Peter and his wife also can out and did a roof and attic inspection after completion of the project along with a secondary sweep for nails. I am very pleased with the quality of the work and service. Had our first two big rain storms and it is nice to have a sound roof with no leaks. I would highly recommend Whitmans Contracting and Roofing for your roofing project.

HD Roofing & Construction did a great job on fixing the numerous problems around my house. They sealed leaky windows, roof leaks, loose tile, missing brick, patched, and painted walls with issues. They did very good work, were very courteous and conscientious about their work. Quality was good and they were very careful around our furniture. Also willing to come back and fix anything I wasn't perfectly happy with. I will definitely use HD Roofing & Construction again and have already talked with them about future projects.

I received three quotes. Mr. Garcia's quote was much less than the other two quotes due to the amount of shingles that were necessary to reroof my house. I told him the other roofing contractors quoted more shingles than he was and asked what if it takes more? He said the difference would be on him due to a wrong estimate. When he came to sign contract, he remeasured my roof and said he was correct in his estimate. Mr. Garcia saved me some serious $$$$. I was so happy with the one day roofing job, I am hiring him to do more work for me as well as my neighbor is hiring Mr. Garcia to do work for him as well. Thank you Robert Garcia for you honesty, integrity and one day service...!

24/7 Roofing arrive on time and providing me with a bid proposal at the time I had completed a research on this company and seen all the past jobs they did they wrote good reviews. I seen one bad review and asked them what happen. They explain their side of the story amd show me proof where they asked the lady if the roof was still leaking. She said no. Then he show me more texts how he offer to come back out and do the repairs for free which the roofnwas under warranty. With all the proof they show me and they was saying the truth that they offer to come back out and repair the roof. she mention they wouldnt repair the roof and refuse to work with her and deny her worry. I put my trust into this company and hire them. I am happy to say they gave me a very good job and stop my 2 leaks on the roof. They even offer me to do a water test to make sure the roof wasnt leaking anymore. The water test was done and there wasnt leaking anymore. This company is very honest and offer good workmenship. Not to many roofing companies will sit there amd complete a 3 min. Water test like they did for me and my husband. So whoever read my review ask them to provide you with the proof where they did offer to come back out and repair Annie's roof for free which was still under warranty they showed me multiple text messages and emails of this client how she stated that they denied to come back out and repair her roof with all the proof I seen I am happy to say this company is honest and professionally and I will use them for the near future for any future repairs done to my home thank you 24/7 roofing for your honest work.

The contractors completed the roof replacement swiftly and were courteous enough to reform some of the tarps that had to be taken off the roof. The head contractor's honesty impressed me a lot and he was very patient in explaining what his team would do with the roof. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a roof replacement.

I had J & S contractors work on my forever home a few months ago. Let me begin with saying that my home turned out to be everything I have ever dreamed of. I cannot begin to express how much of a well job Mr. Vazquez did. This is a wholesome and reliable contractor that truly love the work that they do. All I had to do was speak the image I had and Mr. V. did the rest. He was so informative and through when explaining what need to be done, how it would be done, and also why it needed to be done that way. See, my husband & I are not too knowledgeable on this front so having his clarity & transparency made me feel much more at ease. The whole crew was amazing, they all worked diligently and were very respectful to my home. I cannot express enough how great the result were. I would highly recommend J&S for your contracting needs, you will not be disappointed!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
