We truly enjoyed having Johnny officiate our wedding. We told him that we wanted to share our own vows and have a quick ceremony, and he gave us exactly what we wanted! His words were beautiful and meaningful, and I could not be happier about our decision to hire him!

I cannot express how easy Michael made this process for me. I was extremely busy up until my wedding day and was only able to send him my wedding list only hours before the event. He did a great job by incorporating the songs I wanted as well as choosing a first dance song for my husband and I. He also added in some fun songs for my guest that kept them up and dancing. Michael I am extremely happy with such a outstanding job you did for me. I really appreciate all of your help! I hope you had a great time as well! Thank you again.

He was very professional, played all the songs I requested and kept the party going the rest of the time. The Photo Booth was a big hit and the attendant was always there to help the guests. I don't have my pictures back from the wedding yet or I would post a few.

DJ Tony Cruz is phenomenal!!! There's no one like him. He's punctual, very responsive to special request and goes out of his way to resolve any unforeseen problems in efficient, swift, and effective manner to ensure we didn't know anything was going wrong. His mixing of our music request were PERFECT! Even more, he was interactive, courteous and engaging with our guests, and kept the flow of our ceremony going smoothly. I am so thankful and glad we decided to go with him as our wedding DJ. Additionally, he worked with our wedding planner perfectly, and even wore our wedding colors as requested. His pricing is fair and he provides a great service for everything he does. Additionally, his equipment is high-end and he definitely knows what he's doing!! Our wedding was perfect and DJ Tony Cruz was the best value for the money we spent for our wedding day! Joshua B. P.S. - We'll add pictures when our official photos come back.

Cassandra exceeded my high expectations and made my very nervous daughter feel comfortable on her wedding day. Cassandra was outstanding and excellent in every way! I highly recommend her.

Jorge just recently DJ'ed for both my wedding ceremony and my reception here in Houston. Throughout the entire planning process he made it very easy and provided a detailed timeline to make the whole night go PERFECT. He was able to provide his own set up and an extra mic for our ceremony. He was even able to provide the off the wall starwars and rocky horror picture show music we asked for. All of our guests were very pleased and were also able to make requests through the night. He is very easy to work with, very reliable, and priced well, we would use him again!!!

There are so many wonderful things I can say about Brey & Co. They are a POWER COUPLE in the wedding industry. They went above and beyond from what we were expecting. They took the time to get to know us, was super flexible and personable. Thanks to them our ceremony wasn't your typical boring ceremony. Michelle was my day of coordinator and wingman. She was not only responsive to every email, she was a superstar in saving money, organizing, clarity and offering help and other services when needed. Chris made the ceremony fun and entertaining. I would definitely recommend them! Brey & Co, THANK YOU again for everything!

IF YOU ARE READING THIS AND YOU DONT HIRE THIS DJ, YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!! I PROMISE YOU, DONT PASS UP THE OPPORTUNITY TO HIRE THIS AMAZING DJ. YOU WILL GET WAY MORE THAN WHAT YOU PAY FOR AND HE GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND TO MAKE SURE YOU AND YOUR GUESTS HAVE A GREAT TIME!!! HIRE THIS DJ!!! HIRE THIS DJ!! i planned a surprise engagement party for my fiancee. She was out of town and when she got home we had the clubhouse in the apartment complex all decked out for her. She loved it. Everyone talked about how great the party was but they could not stop buzzing about the DJ. I told him the genres that we liked as well as what my family liked and he was hitting every single song at the right time on the money!! It was perfect. He played some old school love songs that had everyone singing along as well as some dance songs to get everyone up. It was a blast!! DJ, thank you so much for making our engagement party a huge hit. People were actually going to leave but your music kept them around all night long. They actually wanted to stay longer but most of us had to go to work the next day. Thanks again and im glad i was able to book you for my wedding. It may be next year but we are all excited to party with you again. Thanks

Stephanie is the professional a client wants the day of a major event. As a bride, my focus was on my new husband, and Stephanie had the smarts to flawlessly execute our wedding so that we didn't get tripped up in the details. She's reasonably priced, has a fantastic rapport with vendors (and a vast knowledge of vendors), and she helps tailor an event to the customer's desires. She is fantastic and if I could do my wedding all over again, I would hire her all over again.

We hired D NICE to play music for our wedding ceremony and reception. The wedding was at our house, so he met with us several months in advance and had a great idea on how he would light the space. Everything went really well that evening, the blue accent lights looked amazing with our decor and he kept our guests dancing all night. Thanks for helping us have such a memorable evening!

My wedding was a BLAST! All our guest enjoyed dancing the night away, he arrived on time, his lighting was perfect! He took any random song request from our guest and had everyone enjoying their favorite songs. He is organized which was so helpful because I was very overwhelmed at the time. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.
