About

After looking and talking with a host of trainers, I picked Lauren to help me train Sailor. He's a ACD Blueheeler and is typically smart and can be "Hard Headed". Lauren and Sailor hit it off first rattle out of the box and Sailor and I learned a lot. I have purchased many books on dog training, Lauren taught us things that the books never even mentioned. Sailor and I are looking forward to our next lessons here at home, with her. No "Doggy Boot Camp" for us!

About

Over the last year, I have been fortunate to have Hilton Butler from K-9 Bootcamp train my puppy so he could become a therapy dog. From the first encounter with the Butler family I knew my dog would be in good hands. They understood the purpose of his training and knew what he would have to learn in order to become a therapy dog for kids with special needs. I was greatly relieved to know that my dog would be staying in their house with their children. This meant a lot to me since my dog spent 6 weeks being trained. To know that he would not be neglected in a kennel on a large property was a huge relief. Auggie was immediately welcomed by all family members and was treated like one of their own pets. He was in loving hands from the moment he walked in the door. I felt that Hilton was able to apply various protocols to meet my dog’s needs due to his extensive background with K-9 training in the military, police, and service dog environments. Hilton demonstrates a firm hand while training, but uses positive reinforcement as well, which was needed for my dog. He ensures that you know the protocols to carry over in the home environment after training is complete. If there was any question regarding Auggie’s behaviors at home, Hilton was available by email, phone, and even conducted follow up sessions at my house. K-9 Boot Camp is a professional and loving dog training facility. They excel in providing individual treatment to meet your specific training goals. Customer service and compassion for their work shines through. Hilton, took time on a Sunday in November to drive all the way to Auggie’s therapy test for moral support. Auggie passed with flying colors and now comes to work everyday as a certified therapy dog. He is happy in his new role making sure all kids have a smile on their face while receiving therapy! We could not have done it with out Hilton.

Hedy has been home four days after her boarding & training. We have taken several long walks and she no longer strains on her lead, nor lunges at passing cars. She also sits on command, waits before entering or exiting openings until she receives a release, and shows significant progress in getting along with our older dog. My wife and I are very pleased with the training results for Hedy from Artemis, are pleased to give our recommendation of the Artemis Dog Training and Boarding! Harry & Karen Sivess

About

As a former Veterinary Technician, I thought I knew and truly understood the basics of obedience training. Then I met Steve 7 years ago and realized I was clueless to true canine behavior. In the 7 years we have known each other, I have seen him train dogs even ACS's or HS's would assume were a lost cause. He has trained my dog, Seth, in both obedience and protection (Bullmastiff). Seth is one of the most obedient and wonderful dogs I have ever known. The one thing I did know about protection/"guard dog training" prior to meeting Steve was that no one seemed to know what they were doing, many times ruining a dog's core personality and creating unpredictable and dangerous animals. In addition to the many dogs I have seen him work with, he also trained my daughter's wolf hybrid, Kyla. Kyla has all the psychological attributes of a wolf but not all the physical characteristics of a pure wolf (even though she looks very similar to a Timber wolf). She has both Timber and Tundra wolf in her as well as some Akita. So basically the opposite of what you want: An animal I was convinced had crack stashed somewhere in the backyard...LOL After Steve worked with her (along with my daughter and I), Kyla is actually a well-behaved indoor dog (notice I didn't say "normal"). She is not destructive indoors, can be taken on walks, is completely housebroken and totally understands what is asked of her. Kyla has more energy than my daughter and I combined, but she is good at socialization, is protective yet not dangerous, fun to play with and we love her very much. Did I mention she just turned only two years old? Yep, toddler years for her. :) Thank you Steve, for helping my daughter and I in actually being able to share our home with a wolf...an animal my daughter has wanted for a long time and I have grown to love and cherish as well. For everyone who has taken the time to read the reviews on here, they are very accurate in regards to Mr. Johnson's abilities as a behaviorist, trainer and human coach. The relationship and understanding he can teach you and your canine companion to have together is truly priceless.

About

Dallas K-9 Academy is the best and the most effective dog training available. Your dog is trained in your home (or place of business) with you and your family. Our effective techniques, developed through more than 10 years of experience, will help you teach your dog to understand how he should behave in normal, day-to-day situations that occur in your particular environment. Your pet benefits most from training when he can stay at home, in his family environment, where he is loved and cared for best, and where he receives the most individual attention. Because the home is where you spend most of your time with your dog, behavior here is critical for how well your dog will complement your household overall. We train your dog to mind you and all of your family members. Whether it is inside of your home, front or backyard, or when you need to leave your pet unattended, you are assured that your dog will behave. One of the key aspects to our training success is your involvement and participation. Because we teach you how your dog is being trained, you will understand why your dog responds best to certain commands and expectations. We listen and understand your needs and desires, so we can not only help you teach your dog to mind, but you will learn to better communicate with your dog in all circumstances. As a result, you will know how to get your dog to do the things you want him to do willingly and joyfully and with a minimal amount of effort on your part. We are committed to you having a satisfying and rewarding experience with your dog that will last his entire lifetime. Another option we offer is off-site training. Although we prefer to train your dog in your home or place of business with your participation, we understand that this is not always an option for certain owners. In such circumstances, we will keep your dog and train him, and you can be assured that your pet is receiving the best of care. We nurture your dog in our home and treat him as if he is our family pet. We do our best to train him in much the same way we would at your home. Your dog is never stuck off in some remote kennel (as with some training services) because this would not enable your dog to learn how to appropriately interact in a family setting. To be successful, your dog must be trained in an environment similar to yours. At the completion of training, we deliver your dog to your home and work diligently with all the family members to assure you that he will continue his newly learned behaviors.

About

We offer training on basic obedience board and train. This program starts with your dog coming to K-9, and staying with us for 10-14 days. While your dog is with us, we teach six basic commands: heel, sit, down, stay, come and finish heel. The commands are taught verbally, silently (hand signals), and with leash commands (the position of your leash). We also work to counter condition behavior problems while your dog is with us. Some common behavior problems are housebreaking, chewing, digging, barking, bolting, jumping and mouthing. Once your dog has completed the training, we bring you and your family in for a one-hour orientation. Training the owners is the most important part of our obedience program! After the orientation, your dog returns home with you, and you will schedule a time to come back to K-9 for follow-up lessons. The follow-up lessons are once (or twice) a week. The lessons start as private lessons averaging 20-30 minutes in length; you usually will have 4-5 private lessons. After your private lessons, you will start your distraction lessons which include door manners and working around other dogs. From there, you will progress into a group class. We have group classes on Saturday mornings and Tuesday evenings. Most owners average 4-5 group classes to graduate. At graduation, you'll receive a diploma, and the obedience is guaranteed 100% for life!
