Roger was on time, friendly and courteous! He fixed a seal in one bathroom and fixed the base of the other bathroom. He took his time and did the job well. I think I'll keep his name and number on the fridge door. However, I don't think we'll have any issues but if a friend or neighbor is is need of a good person to fix plumbing, Roger is da man! I just bought a new home that came with a laundry list of repairs, especially with the roof, which included: securing the ridge vent at the very top of the house, nailing down flashing all around the house and chimney, painting rusty chimney cap and flashing, securing loose shingles, sealing holes in the decking from the attic, and cleaning the gutters. Ultima gave me a great quote. The entire team was friendly and punctual with completing tasks. I'm very satisfied with the job they did and will call them when it's time to replace the roof.

The work he did for us was very extensive. It included removing the carpet on the whole top floor of our house, including the stairs. Then it was replaced with laminate, added new side boards, and brand new wooden stairs. The whole master bathroom was redone, took out the bathtub and flooring and redone with a full tile shower. We also needed an opening between two bedrooms to combine into a bigger master suite, which included having to open up a wall and install a new opening/door. Everything was done very neatly and beautiful. His work is excellent and very well done!

I had all but wonderful experience with PES construction on their roofing job. The quote was detailed with all the explanation of what to expect and what's the pricing of the labor and materials used(breaking down to what materials used further) and the men were really punctual and worked all day and finished the whole roof in 2 days. I am definitely recommending them to my friends. True professionals with neat job.

Peter Whitman was such a pleasure to work with, and I am NOT easy to please! Peter and his crew went above and beyond to take care of me and was always present. Hard working, reliable, honest and professional. You won't go wrong with him. I referred Whitman's to several of my friends that needed roofing and all were very happy with him and his work.

Showed up to look at the job the day after I called him. Started the next day. Quoted me a very reasonable price to finish off my taping and texture drywall after the flood. Was always on time. Answered any questions I had and was very meticulous with making sure he didn’t miss anything. Will definitely recommend to others and use on future jobs.

I love love love my patio cover. 4 days to complete. They did exactly what we asked or and wanted. We asked to leave the beams open because we want to go back and add fans and we also asked for no flooring, since we are pouring a concrete slab. Very pleased!

I'll update after the next rainfall, but today Scott from Campbell Roofing arrived when he said he would, came with a tall enough ladder, and working camera. He clearly explained the problem and the estimate which was a fraction of the guy who had been there earlier that morning with a short ladder and a nonworking camera. After completing the work, he made some recommendations about work I would need in the near future but was not aggressive about a sales pitch. I would recommend Campbell Roofing. I'll update after the next rainfall when I am leak free.

This is an amazing and dedicated team of professionals. Fletcher is honest, diligent with a focus to detail and craftsmanship. He was here many times during the demo and rebuild. I actually hired Phoenix for my roof, siding, gutters, windows and painting. Big job which could have been very stressful for me but Fletcher made it simple and stress free. I didn't have to fret when I was away at work. He timed everything perfectly. The teams were professional and respectful. The house looks amazing, my neighbors are in awe of the transformation. I will certainly use him again when I redo the bathrooms and driveway. Thanks Fletcher!!!!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.
