I loved working with Ambrianna Freeze, she was an absolute joy! She tutored me in French and was incredibly flexible and accommodating to my busy schedule. She was thorough in her lesson plans and very attentive to my pronunciation , making necessary corrections before advancing through the lesson plans. I would highly recommend her; she is an extremely efficient tutor who vetts her instructors carefully and with dedication to delivering exceptional service to the clients.

I currently work full-time in the aviation/aerospace industry and teach physics part-time at McLennan Community College. I have taught and tutored introductory, algebra and calculus based physics courses and labs. I have tutored both high school and college level mathematics courses in algebra, pre-cal, calculus I, II, III, ODE, PDE and linear algebra. Past students have typically increased their grade by 1-2 letter grades with regular tutoring. I enjoy tutoring students to dispel their fears of physics and math as being difficult or hard. I hope to instill a greater appreciation and understanding of how our world works. Seeing an individual surpass their personal expectations and excel at something they once thought unattainable or impossible is very satisfying and I hope all my students experience this.

I am a senior at China Spring High School, and I will graduate with distinguished scholars. I love teaching and hope to become a teacher.

As a professional I am committed to the success of the student. As a retired teacher in the classroom, each child I taught was considered my child so each child I tutor is also considered a child of mine. I love helping students get to the next level and hope each student has a great experience getting there. I believe tutors (just as classroom teachers) can play key roles in the lives of students. I have many reasons for loving what I do....helping students achieve their potential and working with students while recognizing their individual needs. Tutoring also allows education and enrichment to merge which allows to students to learn or grasp the concept while having a little bit of fun.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good math tutor?

Math home tutors are available for any age student, from elementary school to postgraduate studies. Rates will vary based on the tutor’s background, education and experience. To find a good math tutor, first determine your learning goals. Do you need help understanding and completing homework assignments? Are you preparing for the math portion of a standardized test? Next, read reviews from current and former students. Find someone with proven success helping students achieve their goals. If you want help on an ongoing basis, decide what your budget is and identify the tutors who fall within your range. Ask if there are additional fees for travel, as some home math tutors include travel costs in their rates and others charge extra. Ask about session length and the tutor’s teaching style, and whether they also offer online sessions or group sessions. Finally, schedule a single session with each of the math tutors you think are best to see who is the best fit.
