What do you love about your job?

I get to help people of all ages achieve success and teach them the joy of learning whether it is for math, reading, a standardized test, or any other subject. My students learn to recognize their own gifts. Each is brilliant to me.

What or who inspired you to start your own business?

I have always been teaching others and looking back, I have been doing it since I was eleven! Even when I was working as a scientist, I spent my time visiting work specialists and teaching them how to speak English while demonstrating how to use equipment. When my son was old enough for school, the doctor told me that home schooling was required. I changed careers and became his full-time parent and teacher. The children also doing home school in our neighborhood came to my house to learn as well.

Developing a teaching business was a natural extension of what I already did. I began by teaching standardized test preparations for Kaplan and soon moved into tutoring any subject. I love it all!

One tutoring session in and I already cannot say enough good things about Tyrus, Gabriel and Education Solutions. What an amazing program, company, the total package. The personal attention is unbeatable, the price was comfortable for our budget and I just know my son will be a better student over all thanks to the guidance of his new math tutor. I thought this would be a HUGE pain to get him into but already he can't wait for Gabriel's next visit. So so glad we found Education Solutions. I fully and exuberantly recommend their services to any and everyone.

I am a high school teacher with six years of experience teaching upper level math and physics. I also have 15 years of experience tutoring students. I've tutored my peers and others since I was in high school. I graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a BS in Psychology and a focus in engineering. In college, I realized my passion was sharing the beauty of math and science with others, so upon graduating I began my teaching career. For the past six years, my background in engineering has allowed me to teach not only the basic skills of mathematics, but also its purpose and application to all of my students. In addition to teaching in the classroom, I am now offering one-on-one tutoring services to any middle or high school math or physics/chemistry student. I am able to tutor students in any math discipline and also specialize in physics and chemistry tutoring. I offer one-hour sessions as many times a week or month as is requested. I individualize my sessions to the needs of each particular student. I pride myself on creating applicable lessons that truly engage each of my students. Ultimately, I will help to instill a passion for math or science in you or your student, creating life-long learners in the discipline.

Currently, I teach mathematics on a college level. I have a minor in secondary education, a bachelor's in pure math, and a master's in applied math. I have tutored before at Lynchburg College with college students and at Huntington Learning Center with all levels of students from K-12 in various areas of math and verbal, including SAT preparation. Preferably, I would like to tutor in the subjects of algebra, geometry, and statistics, but I am willing and able to cover other mathematical subjects as well.

As a full-time private academic instructor with over 12 years of tutoring experience, I work closely with my students to find out what works best for them in subject areas such as math, science, and foreign language. I am experienced in working with children, teens, and adults, from kindergarten to college and beyond. Working with students in the subject areas that they struggle is vital to ensure future success. I try to instill a firm understanding of the fundamentals each student requires in order to succeed in their classes now and in the future. Over several years, I have obtained an immense working knowledge of students in academic environments and find it easy to interact with people of diverse backgrounds and ages. It is of great important to identify areas of weakness in the student's knowledge of material and study skills to help the student progress smoothly, now and in the future. I'm friendly, and I love working with kids and adults. I am also great at helping students sort through and organize their material into proper and effective study guides while making it somewhat enjoyable for the student to do. What best ingrains material into a person's mind is the way it is presented, and I do my best to have the material I teach to stick and help you spend less time studying! I really get to know the student and work to include real world application of concepts for better understanding. I started tutoring in high school in Northern Virginia and graduated with an AP diploma. During high school, my classes were heavily science and math-based. Classes relevant to my current experience include the following: - AP Biology - AP Chemistry - AP Calculus BC - AP Spanish - AP Psychology - All Honors Math and Science Courses During high school, I tutored and was available to help in nearly every science and math class, including classes I was currently enrolled in at the time. I tutor in all subjects except history but have great recommendations for other tutors if you are looking! As a proficient speaker of the Spanish language, I also assist with tutoring students who are taking beginning and intermediate level classes currently (through high school level Spanish 3/4 as well as the first two semesters of college Spanish). Thus far, through this site, I have tutored over 90 different students through university tutor. Head there to check out some of my reviews!
