Started guitar lessons a couple of months ago and couldn't be happier. I was self taught and played by ear. Didn't feel I had time for lessons. But, I was missing a lot of the fundamentals. The lessons have started to fill in the gaps and I'm learning a lot faster than before. I wish I started these lessons a couple of years ago. And way too easy taking these lessons at my place. Highly recommended!
I've had about 6 lessons with Mary on guitar and have thoroughly enjoyed them. She has a great eye for details in technique thats very important in a guitar teacher to keep you on track. I also like the way she builds the skills on top of each other while not trying to do this be repeating the same song until perfect. This is an excellent way to keep the student engaged while building the technique that will be needed. I also like that she is not locked in to a particular dogma. For example, I'm a pretty large person and we needed to adjust my posture from the standard classical guitar posture. She was able to articulate the general principles that one wants to achieve in their posture and use those principles to help me find a posture that works for my body type. In summary. I would gladly recommend Mary to friends wanting to learn classical guitar.
I always wanted to learn to play guitar, and tried several times to teach myself without success. The idea of taking guitar lessons was super intimidating to me, but I decided to give it a shot, and I'm so glad I did. Ryan is an amazing instructor. His passion for teaching is obvious, and I feel like I learned so much from him in a short amount of time. He addresses all the things any new player faces such as a lack of confidence and bad habits. Right away I felt comfortable and encouraged, and I looked forward to lessons every week. The lessons motivated me to want to practice and work through everything I was learning, and they were always fun. Ryan has a great sense of humor and a knack for using pizza metaphors to explain music theory :) I can't say enough great things about my experience, and I encourage anyone considering lessons with Ryan to definitely go for it. You won't be disappointed.
We've been working with Ken since September for our 11 year old's electric guitar lessons. We've been pleased with Ken's professionalism, structure and teaching style. Our son has learned a great deal in a short time after being away from lessons for two years and enjoys his lessons a lot. Ken is a great guy to work with and the studio is a nice place for private lessons. We've had the opportunity to meet a few of his other students around my son's lesson times, and it's clear that Ken is able to teach and work with a wide variety of ages and levels. We give Ken our highest recommendation.
Ed Carlson is a great teacher. He is always punctual . When you have any difficulty in playing any tune or chords,he Works hard with you to learn. My son is learning guitar from him since 1 month and he throughly enjoys it..
Jonny has been giving my daughter guitar lessons for 2 months now and we love him! He's patient and fun and really brings out the best in his students. He's also flexible on our lesson schedule which in these busy times is definitely a plus! We look forward to many more lessons with him.
Started taking singing lessons with Maddy as a complete beginner. She's been so kind, patient, and supportive and is wonderful about explaining how the voice works. I highly recommend her!!
Neal taught my son for 3yrs when we used to live in CA. He enjoyed being tutored by Neal so much so, that when we moved to NJ, he continued guitar lessons and is now following in Neal's footsteps and will study jazz guitar in college next year... He only wishes he had listened to Neal more when he had the chance!!!
I am an adult, professional, working full time and raising two teenagers. I have been taking acoustic guitar lessons from David O'Suna for the last year. I have progressed from beginner, with some prior musical experience, to being able to play hundreds of songs. David has been low-key, encouraging and able to challenge me to build on my skills every week. His teaching style is very adaptable and his knowledge and interests are wide ranging. He has been an excellent resource.
Great first lesson as a new guitar player. Edgar is professional and talented. I'd definitely recommend working with him if you're in the market for a guitar teacher.
My 11-year-old son has taken 2 1/2 years of guitar lessons with Bob, and he's still as excited as when he started, if not more so. Bob balances what my son would like to learn with what he needs to learn--blending fun and cool with theory and practice in a way that challenges but doesn't overwhelm. Plus he's a delightful person. We've had an excellent experience with Bob and highly recommend him.
I was in search for a teacher who could offer the technical knowledge of music theory, yet with a mastery in fingerpicking technique. Liam was the perfect teacher, given his academic studies and years of playing genres of guitars. He is really positive, patient, and is constantly aware of the nuances of learning a new instrument (markings of a great teacher). He kept it fun and time passed in a blink of an eye! Looking forward to moving from spanish guitar to electric in the coming year!
I really enjoy music lessons with Jacob, I've had several teachers and he is by far the easiest to work with and to learn from. He's a great guitar player and keeps the lessons fun, he also does a good job at making sure that what I'm practicing has something to do with what I'm interested in. I've had teachers in the past that did not make guitar interesting, Jacob is great, well worth the money! I'm much better than I was before I started with him.
I have ongoing weekly lessons with Ken. Having played the guitar for a few years before the lessons, I was nervous about taking lessons and concerned that it would be too text book and something that I could do online for cheaper or free. After 10 minutes with Ken, I knew I had made the right decisions by taking personal lessons. Ken is a great teacher that employs a perfect balance of theory and technique. What I like the most is the way he teaches you how to apply and use the theory and technique in every lesson. Ken is a great teacher that I highly recommend to students of any level.
I am pleasantly surprised that I found such a good teacher, Ken Jacobsen, who even lives close to me. I have complete confidence in his ability to take my classical guitar training to the next level.
Love this school! It's been great experience for both of my kids. We've been taking piano and guitar lessons for last 4 years
Sami is a wonderful guitar player and teach, as well as songwriter and vocalist. He takes a great interest in his students and helps to motivate them to their full potential. He's a fantastic musician and performer and can bring that experience to his students to help them grow in their performance abilities. He's a teacher who can work with beginners to get them up and playing songs they enjoy quickly, or work with accomplished players to improve their skills. A very caring teacher / mentor for his students.
Friendly and knowledgable, Larry was my piano teacher for over 5 years, but together we dabbled in voice, sax, guitar, and even a bit of drums. He tailored lessons to exactly what I wanted to do and how I wanted to do it. He can stick to the standard lesson plans, or adapt them to exactly what you want to learn. He's a good guy and a good teacher who gave me all the foundations to be confident in just about every aspect of music.
I hired David to help me learn guitar. I've had others try to help me, but music never really "clicked" for me. He was very patient with me and helped me learn the fundamentals. For the first time I no longer feel lost and it's all thanks to David!

I teach fingerstyle guitar, classical guitar, folk, and rock. I also specialize in the Hal Leonard Method, Fredrick Noad Method, and Christopher Parkening Method. My lessons are tailored to each individual student, to their interests and needs. I generally use the Hal Leonard Guitar method but I will use any method best suited for the goals you want to reach. Whatever method we use will be supplemented with other songs and exercises. My lessons tend to be laid back and fun but also challenging. I expect students to do their best and make an effort. The lessons are taught in my studio with an amp, guitar, music stand, books, and seating, or in the students home. Students are required to have their own instrument. I do have instruments available to rent.
New To Thumbtack
My main goal is to find out where you are at musically, where you want to go, and finally customize a lesson plan to get you there smoothly and with a smile!
