Chef Paul and Stephanie were the perfect catering partners at my wedding. From the first call they were committed to deliver the Middle Eastern inspired menu I was looking for and came through beautifully, from the dinner, to the cake and deserts to the service. The food was so delicious! We received many compliments from our guests and would hire them again. The menu Chef Paul designed reflected my vision of a unique meal inspired by Moroccan and Lebanese cuisine. Chef Paul and Stephanie were so easy to work with and flexible. Stephanie was an absolute joy to work with. Her professionalism and responsiveness put me at ease. I was able to trust her with every aspect of the catering. I had never met Chantel in person until the day of my husband's party. She is so professional and went to work so quickly. We chose her italian menu and it was absolutely delicious. I especially liked the stuffed pork tenderloin. It was incredibly moist with a cream sauce full of flavorful seasonings. I loved the green salad we chose with all of the fresh herbs and to die for salad dressing. Chantel was so kind and made me feel so relaxed. I would recommend her for any type of event. The experience we all had with Bobby Greene was amazing from beginning to end. Throughout the entire process, he was very kind, accommodating, and, from what I hear, his food was divine. I would highly recommend him for any event. Frankly, if there were more stars, I would add them. But five will have to do. For my parents’ anniversary, I wanted to do something special. I ended up looking into private chefs and decided to put in a request to see what it would take to get this done. This option appealed to me as there is only one nice restaurant where my parents live and they go there every event. I wanted this to be something special for their 30th. Bobby Greene responded to my event request within hours with a bid and a very nice response on how he wanted to be a part of making their anniversary special. From that point forward, he personally helped me along the process and accommodated anything and everything I requested. I had never done anything like this before and had a lot of questions, all of which he answered readily. My mother was a bit picky when it came to the food, but he accommodated every request I had when putting the menu together. He was always very gracious and kind throughout the entire thing – even when I thought I was being too pushy. He always made me feel welcome to ask questions and to make requests. I wasn’t actually there for the experience, but I requested that my mother write a little excerpt about it so I could include in this review: Our youngest daughter surprised us with Bobby – a private chef – for our 30th anniversary. We found out when he showed up (we had the pre-warning of cleaning the house and wearing something nice). I felt very uncomfortable with the idea as we have an older home – small kitchen and no dishwasher. But what was at first self-consciousness quickly gave way to Bobby’s easygoing attitude. He made us feel at ease immediately with his warm, inviting personality. He let us set the ambiance. He could have stayed in the background for the romantic evening or be a part of it. He was so engaging though that we invited him into our evening. As he served each course, he explained what we were eating and how it was prepared. My husband and I met working in a restaurant 31 years prior so we were fascinated by the process. The food was delicious and I have to admit – there were no leftovers! Though he is not a baker, he even made my favorite dessert – a pineapple upside down cake and it was superb. My husband and I highlight recommend Bobby for any special occasion. He is truly talented; the food is prepared to perfection; and, he is very personable and engaging. We will always remember our 30th with great affection.

Chef David Boyd- Private Chef-Down to Earth Cuisine "Delicious, organic, thoughtfully prepared and beautifully plated dishes"- On August 7th I hired Private Chef David Boyd to prepare an Italian Dinner for 10 in my home. (I had offered the "Italian Dinner for 8" as an auction item not knowing at the time who I would hire) He (and his lovely wife, also hired to assist him) arrived at 1pm to begin cooking for the 5:30pm event. Earlier in the week, we met to decide on the menu, appropriate tableware and wine/beverage pairings for the 5 course menu. We went with a Northern Italian theme featuring peaches because they were in season and seafood. I handled the purchase of the wine and cocktail ingredients but paid half of the per person food cost up front so that he could do all the grocery shopping which he did using local fish/meat stores and organically grown fruit and veggies from our area farmers market. He also arrived with all of his own knives and most utensils needed though he did use my mixing bowls and cookware. The entire meal was then prepared in our kitchen. Because he makes everything from scratch like croutons, mayonnaise, sugared garnish for the dessert etc. it is very time consuming, labor intensive and requires full use of your kitchen. He and his wife worked hard and fast for the 4.5 hours before guests arrived. They were conscientious and they cleaned and emptied the garbage etc. as they went. The result was delicious, organic, thoughtfully prepared and beautifully plated dishes that my husband and I were proud to serve to our guests. I would suggest discussing the estimated prep time for individual menu items as well as the per person cost ahead of time. Chef David seems capable of working within any reasonable budget, but he does require a lot of prep time if you choose complex menu items so that factors into his hourly rate. I think the dinner cost me more than what guests paid at the auction but that's totally my fault for not being more clear about my budget and for suggesting such complex ideas like an appetizer of scallops served in some sea shells I had. All in all, it was a very impressive, well paced, 5 course meal, and my guests enjoyed hearing Chef David explain the details of each delicious course as it was served. It was so nice to be able to just relax and enjoy my guests rather than stress about the food and clean-up. A really fun experience! I recommend hiring Chef David Boyd of Down to Earth Cuisine for your next dinner party. - Suzy H.

We operate Kruger Escapes, an adventure sailing charter business based in the San Juan Islands of Washington State. Two years ago we established a partnership with Nichole of Island Chef Services. In preparation for each of our sailing trips, we provide Nichole with detailed food surveys from each of our guests. Nichole then works her magic, always demonstrating incredible thoughtfulness, planning, preparation and execution. From the food surveys, she prepares detailed menu plans, shops for all the food, then fully preps each meal (for up to seven days!). As a final step she provides us with detailed instructions on how to finish preparing each meal and plate it beautifully. This relationship allows us to quickly prepare and serve freshly cooked meals while underway AND maintain a gourmet food experience for our guests that is specifically catered to their tastes. On every sailing trip with Nichole's food, our guests express delight over the menu and surprise at just how much delicious food is on board the boat. Our guests' comments include statements like, "How did she know my favorite dinner?!", "This is beautiful!" or "This is our most favorite way to eat. We want to meet Nichole!" On a smaller scale, last Christmas we hired Nichole to make an apple pie for our family dinner. My dad is NOT easy to impress with pie, and apple is his favorite. It was a little heartbreaking to have to tell him I wasn't the one who baked the pie he was so happy with... and then he kept saying, "This Nichole really knows how to bake an apple pie." We love you Nichole!!

Jim does an amazing job working with his team to put out BEAUTIFUL and DELICIOUS food. I have LOVED his work for years. Currently I also get to work alongside him to co-facilitate themed events. He is approachable, works well with others, stays within his budget, adjusts accordingly when things unforseen occur, contines to dream up new ideas, while encouraging others to shine as well. He is by far a YES man with a BIG SMILE & great laugh. Put on your sunglasses and be prepared to be dazzled by this gem of a man and his outrageous food!

    I LOVE Cashew Blanca--it's my go to for delicious, guilt-free, made-with-love-and-consciousness treats. I've made purchases for a wide range of circumstances, from personal enjoyment (love the single-slice available at the Tacoma Food Co-Op and Ice-Cream Social), parties (this was the hit dessert at my last Thanksgiving), and business events (Cashew Blanca catered the dessert for Samdhana-Karana Yoga's Silent Auction last year)! I buy Melody's single-slice vegan cheesecake when I want a luxurious treat that doesn't make me feel puffy (from dairy) or erratic (from cane sugar) or just frightened (from the list of ingredients). Plus I love that it's made locally--yum all around! Thank you, Melody!
