My 8 year old son and I have been taking piano lessons from Chris for the past 8 months. We are both seeing a great improvement in our playing! Chris has the ability to pinpoint just what needs to be worked on. He is very passionate about music and conveys that in his quiet but motivational demeanor. He also uses the technique of professionally recording pieces once they are mastered. Plus, he brings his guitar or violin to the lessons and plays duets with us. It makes me feel like a real musician. Without reservations, I can highly recommend Chris as a very patient and competent teacher.

First of all, Alyona is a consumate world class talent as a performer, and as close to a musical genius as I have ever known. As a teacher, she takes the care that only a good mother has to cater to the individual needs of each student. My children both excelled in her program of instruction, and enjoyed her approach to piano and music theory. We only wish we could continue with her her still, and I implore you, if you are reading this, to give her a try. You won't be sorry. ~Kevin

I have been taking alto saxophone lessons from Michael for more than a year. He is highly knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging. He employs learning theory to help students to improve their ability. He clearly understands the effort needed to play an instrument well, and takes the time needed for a student to reach that goal. Recognizing that students sometimes wish to rush ahead, he emphasizes the need to go slowly in mastering the techniques needed to play well.

Both my daughters take piano lessons from Helga, and she is absolutely wonderful! They both started at a very young age, and Helga's patience is endless. She is fantastic about knowing just what each child needs, and challenging them while still recognizing what they're capable of. When she was recommended to us she was referred to as "the best piano teacher I ever had," and we completely agree with that sentiment.

About

Music is the language that spans ages, and is learned by all. I have studied piano for over 20 years with professors from Berlin Conservatory of Music, Indiana University, and Central Conservatory of Music in China. I am also an active pianist, having performed with pianist Lang Lang, held different solo recitals, and have played over twenty different concerts in the past four years as an accompanist. No matter what my students’ abilities are, I am patient, encouraging, and knowledgeable. I respect my students’ goals, whether they be to become a professional musician or just to play as a hobby. As your instructor, I will incorporate modern songs, styles, music theory, and aural training, which includes: ear-training, sight-reading, and sight-singing in my teaching. The method books I use most often are “Piano Adventures by Nancy and Randall Faber” and “Piano by Alfred’s Book Piano Library.” If students want to work on functional music, I would choose the method book best suited for the situation, such as Merry Christmas by Jane Smisor Bastien.

About

Welcome to New Classics Piano Studio! We are located in Lake Mills, Wisconsin, and offer weekly piano lessons and performance opportunities to students of all ages. Our studio is named for a combination of new and traditional elements in music. “New classics” refers to both the importance of classical music, as well as the reviving of a sort of lost art in today’s piano studios: improvisation! Students bring an aspect of “new” to their music through learning to improvise, and in discovering that skill, bring an “old” art back to make it new again. If you want to learn to play any style of music, classical music is an important foundation! If you can play classical music, you can play anything. Improvising music is the heart of creativity and expression in music. Classical masters used to improvise on their own compositions or on others’, but now this is a skill almost exclusively used by jazz musicians. At New Classics, students are taught the techniques needed to improvise so they can discover where all the fun and skill in music is found! The idea in fusing improvisation with classical music is to help students discover both classical and jazz styles of music, and how to be proficient in both. This unlocks the world of music for students as they learn how to play great works of the past, play traditional jazz standards, and ultimately discover how to create their own music..
