Mike is very knowledgeable and great at putting the information into a context that you can understand. He clearly has a knack for teaching guitar. I'm taking advanced lessons and feel like I already learned a lot just in our 1hr consultation. I'm looking forward to continue working with him and definitely suggest him to anyone looking to learn guitar. Having lessons in a studio is also a big bonus!
Guy Fiorentini has been my guitar teacher for several years... When I started, i knew nothing about guitar except I liked it. I have learned about music technically, and aesthetically and how to make music ... on the guitar! He has introduced me to many talented musicians as well as his own Milwaukee Hot Club... (awesome). There was/ is so much more to learn; rhythm, chords, ear training... especially ear training.. He challenges me at each lesson and the motivation is there all the time. I want to succeed and he motivates me to no end... A great teacher! A great person as well!!!
Whether you want to learn how to strum a few chords or have aspirations to be a professional musician, Ken is your guy! Ken will teach any and all aspects of the craft including things you may not even think of. Instrument care, set-up, tuning and helping to make sure an instrument is a good fit for the student. He sincerely is interested in his student's success. I took guitar lessons from Ken for a couple of years. Not only was my goal to learn how to play, I wanted to learn the art of writing and recording my own songs. Ken got me to that level and beyond. Learning guitar has changed my life in a positive way. I highly recommend Ken as your teacher and start down your path of learning how to play which ever instrument you are interested in. It is something that never leaves you Johnny
Kristen was awesome! I had here this past year through the voice lessons that the University of Michigan's School of Music, Theater and Dance offers non-performance majors. She's taught me a lot of different techniques, many of which I have never seen before (I've been in voice lessons for five years). She helped me develop my voice greatly, and I hear a huge difference from where I was a year ago. I sound more mature, I have more stamina and my technique is much safer. If you're looking for a vocal coach, I would highly recommend going to her!
Ms. Lynn has taught me for about 6 years. I started with her at age 54. She is delightful and easy to work with. I intend on taking lessons from her for the rest of my life. I've improved dramatically under her tutelage. She makes taking piano lessons a very enjoyable experience. Mike S.
My daughter has been taking piano lessons from Fran for years now and has made great progress. I chose Fran because he is a professional singer as well. I am hoping one day she will want to add the singing. Fran is very nice and encourages his students without pressuring.
He taught very fluidly and paid close attention to make sure I understood what he was saying. He definitely takes his teaching seriously and I look forward to more lessons.
Lena taught my daughter guitar lessons for a little over years. She was great! Very patient and excellent teacher. She always made the lessons enjoyable. Would highly recommend Lena to anyone looking to learn or further their guitar skills.
Working with Michelle, to enhance my (toddler) son's music enrichment has been such a delightful experience. She is always charming and excited to work with him. And he has no idea he's learning early music theory; he simply loves the games she puts to music. I am extremely satisfied with our decision to start him early on; we have no doubt every chance to meet with her prepares him for future music lessons!
Tim works very well with my teenaged son. He is very professional and seems to care deeply about teaching music. I would highly recommend Tim to teach your kids how to play the guitar.
I am am adult student of Mark's. I began lessons in the Spring of 2008. When we first talked, I explained that I had played some (chords only) as a teenager for 3-4 years but then gave it up as life took over. Mark asked me some good questions about my goals and objectives. I liked him immediately. He sourced a very good starting guitar for me-in my case an acoustic as I lean that way (although I'm now playing electric as well), and at my first lesson he explained that we were going to start at the beginning and he planned to teach me to read music. I scoffed, but six years later (and several more guitars!) I am overjoyed with my love for music. Theory, history, technique and backstory all accompany my lessons. I can read sheet music and understand the concepts the math and the history. I recommend Mark to anyone wanting to learn not just the notes or the chords, but the "why" behind it. Kids, adults, beginners-doesn't matter. I've watched him with students from very young kids to senior citizens and he gets it. He knows how to relate to all students and how to get through to each of them on a personal level. Aside from being a genuinely good guy, he's a darn good player too and can teach things that I could only imagine possible when I started. I look forward to every single lesson after 6.5 years!
Jon has been an excellent teacher for my daughter as a beginning guitar player. She has learned alot from Jon and looks forward to the lessons. He is patient and encouraging and excited with her for her successes.
Coltyn is Awesome! My son loves going to lessons! He explains things in a simple way that my son has really latched on to. Already I can hear improvements in my sons singing and we have only had a few lessons! I would give more then 5 stars if I could!
I teach guitar, not just songs. Yes, songs are the finished product, but there is a difference between knowing how to play a few songs, and knowing how to play guitar. The difference is in not only knowing what you are playing, but why. No, you're audience probably won't care if you know the names of the notes and chords you play, or even what key you're playing in. You play the songs for them, but knowing music and music theory is for yourself. So, if you just want to learn how to play some songs, there are some great websites that can give you all you need to know. Save your money and use them. However, give me a call because you're ready to learn guitar, not just songs.
My daughter has studied with Leiko for five years. She absolutely loves her as a teacher and looks forward to lesson time with her every week. I know some children get bored with piano lessons with their teachers and they want to quit after awhile. Leiko has kept my daughter interested in playing and learning throughout the years. She is becoming a real pianist and artist thanks to her teacher!
