VL B. says, "The positives… he was very fast in his response to my quote request even though it was in the middle of the night. He was pleasant to deal with, he was on time, and let me know 30 minutes before he was going to be here that he was going to be here in 30 minutes. Please note the paint and texture was already messed up before the job and I knew I needed to repaint. As soon as he arrived, he told me that he recently moved from Greece to here and that he doesn’t speak English that well. Although I feel we were able to communicate adequately. *****The negatives…he didn’t clean up after himself. (even though I brought a small vacuum out for him to use and showed it to him) I ended up having to sweep/ vacuum large amount of drywall dust (I took a picture after cleaning up the inside ) and outside had to pick up The fiberglass insulation and chunks of wood and drywall from the doggie door installation. Perhaps he’s used to working with somebody else that comes along behind him and cleans up, or is not aware that part of the job is cleaning up after yourself. Also, he failed finish off the trim work, which I will have to pay somebody else to do later or do it myself. He also failed to use caulking nor foam insulation spray as the instructions say to which means if it rains and hits the outside of the door, the rain can go into the inner cavity of the wall and that the doggie door can get hotter than it needs to and the dogs might not want to go through it if they get burnt, I will have to take it apart and do that later. He also was not interested in the using the instructions, and this dog door company even has a video online that he could have watched and I told him about it before he started the job. I paid $100 to have my pre-purchased doggie door installed. Which was a good price, however, considering I still have to redo some of the work was it that good of a deal? I guess you get what you pay for. It took him approximately two hours hour to complete the job. Conclusion… I would hire him again however I would probably watch him the whole time and make sure that he followed the instructions and insisted that he cleaned up after himself."See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

To find and hire the best handyman in Phoenix, begin your search online. This allows you quick access to handyman ratings, customer reviews and sometimes even photos of work done by handymen in the Phoenix area.

You should also figure out what kind of credentials the handyman may have. If they will be performing certain tasks that require a licensed pro, ask to see their license or look it up online

Your last step is to compare price quotes among several Phoenix handymen and contractors before deciding on the best fit.

You can expect to pay around $35 to $90 per hour for a handyman’s services in Phoenix, though this price will likely depend on the type of job the handyman needs to perform, the distance they have to drive, any extra materials they need to purchase and the handyman’s level of expertise.

You can find out how much handyman services will cost you by contacting the best handyman in Phoenix and asking for free estimates.

Please note: All cost estimates are accurate at the time of writing and are subject to change. For the most accurate, up-to-date cost estimates for your specific project, get free estimates from pros near you.

There are a number of different appliances that professionals can install for you, including:

  • Washers and dryers. These machines are heavy and very sensitive to being level and balanced, and also require hookups to water, electricity and sometimes gas or propane.
  • Cooking ranges. Your range may use propane or gas, which is a hookup job best left to the pros.
  • Microwaves. You may want to have your microwave be an undermount or in-mounted unit, which a pro can install and make it look seamless.
  • Refrigerators. These are heavy and often require a water hookup.
  • And more!

Reach out to an appliance installation service, and find out if they can install your appliance. Often, it’s helpful to provide the brand and model of the appliance you’re trying to set up.

There are several perks to having a professional install your appliances, including:

  • Hiring a pro saves you time and money. If it breaks down, the service person who sold and installed the machine can fulfill its warranty. However, this warranty could be void if you install it incorrectly.
  • It will work reliably. Many appliances like ranges and laundry machines rely on being on level surfaces as well as having potentially dangerous hookups installed correctly.
  • You can get repair and maintenance support. If something isn’t working or you want advice, you can call up your installer and ask if they can help you troubleshoot or repair it.

Installing a new appliance costs $125, on average. However, homeowners should expect to pay within the range of $120 to $150.

For less complex appliance installations, you may pay a low-end cost ranging between $65 and $100. On the other hand, more complex appliances like laundry machines, ranges and other items can cost between $175 and $326 to install. Ask whichever appliance installation service you hire to give you a price quote, if possible.

You can tip appliance installers if you feel their service has gone above and beyond. A standard tip is between $10 and $20.

Reasons you might consider tipping include a very pleasant customer service demeanor, having to carry a heavy appliance up or down the stairs, working in inclement weather, taking care not to make a mess and other acts of care and consideration. You are not obligated to leave a tip — but one is always appreciated.

To find an appliance installer near you, start searching on Thumbtack. This way, you see a list of nearby pros offering services and compare based on their customer review, ratings and profile pages. You can also find customer-uploaded photos showing pictures of the pro’s work.

Check for licensing requirements in your state, and make sure whoever you work with abides by them. Finally, contact several different pros to compare their rates.
