Coach Michelle was influential in me making a transition in my life. She is very compassionate but very truthful in her approach. When you are in crisis, you dont know what the plan should be or the first step to putting one together. She is very good at helpingyou with a plan and holding you accountable to it. IN the first meeting I felt hope and by the 4th meeting I felt empowered. My family begin to notice the transformation and I was much more fully present within my relationshipb. Most of all it was a great moment in my life to get to know me!

I have trained with Johanna out of my home since February and cannot recommend her enough! She is a very sweet & friendly young woman but most of all full of energy, reliable & effective. Johanna gives me the push I need to get the most out of my training when I'm with her as well as on my own. We train twice/wk and no two sessions have ever been the same. She tailors them to my personal needs and ability and is very knowledgeable about diet and overall health. Johanna demonstrates she honestly cares. I can always count on her to truthfully & promptly answer any questions I may have. My initial goal was to lose 30lbs. I have lost 25 of them so far & once I achieve that goal, I will definitely be setting a new one. I am undeniably happy with my results thus far not only because I look better, but more importantly because I FEEL better! Thank you Johanna for going above and beyond in efforts to make this new lifestyle transition an achievable one! Not only have I gained knowledge & strength...but I have also gained a great friend along the way!

Sean was very helpful and totally professional. His office environment was very relaxed. I needed help developing my resumé, and especially conveying my professional attributes and not just work experience. Sean provided extra help after our sessions via email in the evenings and over the weekend. I'm extremely satisfied with Sean's services and will probably return, and I'd recommend him to anyone needing resumé and career advice. Thanks Sean!

Emily has such a great and comforting personality. When I meet with her, I feel like I’m really being heard, no matter what tangents I go on. Most importantly, she’s patient and allows time for me to work through my thoughts. I’ve referred friends over to her, and they have raved about her as well. Choose Emily to help guide you in your career or other parts of your life. You will be very happy you did!

I recently had the pleasure of working with Elenie Opffer for the past month. This year I decided to make a transition professionally into a slightly different field of work. After updating my resume I realized I was rusty and out of practice with my interview skills. Elenie and her professional expertise have helped me articulate my strengths and skills and confidently transform them into responses to some of the toughest interview questions. Taking her professional advice on recorded mock interview exercises and giving me feedback on my cover letters has allowed me to stand out beyond my competition. Her professional insight and coaching has prepared me to be a more confident and refined professional. Without hesitation, I would highly recommend Elenie. The amount of value you receive from her knowledge and detailed coaching will allow you to be the polished professional companies seek.

I came to Oliver at Verbal Ninja ahead of a big speech that had career and even life changing potential. I was speaking to a large group of fellow doctors, several of whom were what you might call “celebrity doctors.” Frankly, I wanted to upstage them. I myself have an acting background but have always had a lot of stage fright for public speaking. I worked with Oliver over the month leading up to the big event. I knew what I wanted to say, just not quite how to say it. He made my words sound like nothing I’ve ever heard before—yes, that good. Yet it still sounded like me…I felt comfortable and spontaneous. He sort of gave me the voice that I always thought I had inside, if that makes any sense. He also coached my delivery, voice, gestures, movement, eye contact, etc. etc. His tricks to conquer stage fright—especially the psychological aspect—are brilliant. The result? I think I killed it that night. Even my billionaire friend who came to see me said I spoke better than a lot of people he sees that speak on a regular basis. Even the owner of the company had this to say: “Thanks for everything, the event was great and we were very happy that you gave that speech, it was amazing! Not only the way you presented (like an actor) but also the content was very emotional, some tears were shed from Melissa.“ People came up to me afterwards and shared how I changed their view on aesthetics and really motivated them. All the “famous doctors” who spoke alongside me on the panel were super impressed as well. In short, Oliver came to me highly recommended. He leaves me even more highly recommended. If the stakes are high, he’s the guy.

Greg was super helpful in guiding me through the steps from a working at a startup to now a small business owner. He not only helped me make careful but smart career decisions, he also helped me package myself and my idea in front of the investors. I needed much help with business modeling, financial modeling, and pitch deck compilation, and Greg taught me all in the most efficient way possible. I would not have been able to raise the funds I needed and be where I am without Greg today.

Celeste is a very kind, caring and patient woman. I learned a lot from her during out coaching sessions together. She taught me how to set high goals for myself. We went over how to write and format a resume and how to write a concise cover letter. We also discussed my talents and possible career options for the present and future. Through my work with Celeste, I have become a more confident career woman and I'm more sure of myself and the career path I am going to follow. Working with Celeste has changed my life! I highly recommend her to anyone!

Mel's insight and encouragement helped me battle through a seriously bleak period i went through this past winter/spring. I went to Mel at a time when I was facing obstacles that I thought I just couldn't overcome and i didn't know where else to turn. I was in the midst of a health crisis, was laid off from my job, dealing relationship issues that left me feeling worthless an depressed, and dealing with difficult family members. I literally thought all was lost. Mel listened to me with the warmth and compassion of a dear friend, but also challenged me to go to those dark places and gain awareness of my patterns and "stories" that kept me in this ugly self-defeating cycle. Through her eloquently put insight and encouragement, I left every session feeling empowered with a realistic plan of attack. Armed with the tools Mel taught me, I feel like I have matured beyond what i ever thought possible for myself and gained an invaluable sense of awareness that i consciously continue to build. Im very happy to report that i feel like I have made it through the worst time in my life so far. Its been a long rollercoaster of a journey, but Im physically and emotionally on the mend, and i am embarking on a very exciting career opportunity. I am sure that this new adventure would not be in my life were it not for the amazing growth I went through via life coaching. I intend to make working on building my awareness and opening consciousness a lifelong pursuit. Its hard to imagine such powerful wisdom coming from someone you'd just as easily hang out at happy hour with, but Mel is a rare gem who possesses wisdom well beyond her years. As I have gotten to know her more through the Raise Your State community, I have seen her candidly battle through her own difficult journeys. If you are lucky enough maybe one day she'll tell you her story. For me personally, It has been an amazing thing to witness this transformation in her, and even more incredible to see her come out the other side wanting to dive back into the depths to help other young people who are feeling just as lost. She is not only a life coach to me but and endless source of inspiration and light.

I have struggled with anxiety my whole life. As I got older, I felt overwhelmed, lost, and not knowing my purpose. Nothing was going right for me in terms of career and relationships. I felt like my life was falling apart and I had no clue where to begin. I am so grateful to Dr. Ronaye Desiena and the team at LIVE treatment for helping me work through this difficult period in my life. When I feel like I’m spinning out of control, my team helped me slow down and shift my perspective in a way that I never would have been able to accomplish alone. Also, I love that everything was tailored to my specific needs/schedule. I highly recommend.

    About

One of my favorite moments in a coaching session is when the client has an ‘aha’ moment. It’s that moment of clarity when it all comes together for them. That moment reminds me why I do this every day- I’m passionate about helping others reach their goals and I love what I do.

    About

Starting or having a real estate career doesn’t come with a user’s manual. Agents start with a license, big dreams, learn by experience, and succeed by perseverance and determination. The truth is, most brokers don’t have time to train properly and don’t make enough money off their agents to care. This consulting program is an open book policy from a broker who still operates a brokerage, sells real estate, and has a track record to training high producing agents. Brokers are quick to signup anyone and promise the world, but rarely will an agent receive the support and training required to turn their dream into a profitable reality. When I started selling homes I tried to find a successful agent who would share their knowledge and time so I could model their success; but as you can guess no one wanted more competition. I had to figure things out on my own - the hard way. When I opened my brokerage, my goal was to train the best agents in the business rather than hire hundreds. I want to share my passion for helping others succeed in their careers and life.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a career coach?

If you’re interested in furthering your career and want expert help, a career coach is a smart solution. A career coach is a professional you hire to guide you during a job search or a career transition, or to help you improve and advance in your current position. A career coach analyzes your work situation and learns what your professional goals are. They then create a strategy to help you achieve your targets. Throughout the process they should provide objective feedback and guide you in approaching the process strategically. Here are some of the tools and tasks a career coach may assist you with:

    • Helping you build a strong resume that reflects your work history, potential, and skills
    • Coaching for interviews and strategies for solid answers built around your resume and the target job
    • Defining your career goals
    • Creating a plan for job searching
    • Improving networking strategies and skills
    • Developing strategies for negotiating raises or promotions
    • Assessing why you’re not getting where you want to go
    • Identifying new positions or career opportunities that fit your skills

    What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

    Why is career counseling important?

Career counseling can help you discover your career path, help you overcome challenges preventing you from finding happiness in your job, or help you learn more about career opportunities that are available to you. Career counselors are typically counselors who specialize in helping guide people into their best career choices. As professionals, they have typically completed a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on career counseling and bring a nuanced understanding of the emotional blocks that prevent someone from doing what they love or getting ahead in their current position. Here are some of the ways that career counseling can help:

    • Identify your skills and talents and how they correlate to different career paths
    • Educate you about the educational requirements for launching in various careers and what earnings can look like
    • Help you understand the kind of environment you want to work in, and which careers are best suited for that
    • See opportunities to transfer your existing skill set to other career areas
    • Help you identify causes of tension or unhappiness in your current career and how to overcome those difficulties
    • Help you create a game plan for moving forward
    • Provide a safe space for you to understand your feelings about career choices you’re making

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

    What is a career counselor?

If you’re feeling lost in your career path, overwhelmed, in need of a job but confused as where to start, or ready for change but uncertain what you want, a career counselor is a good choice for you. A career counselor is typically a licensed professional who has earned a master’s degree in counseling — likely with an emphasis on career counseling. Each state has different licensing requirements for career counselors, so be sure to research before reaching out to a pro.

Due to their academic backgrounds, career counselors often have a more holistic and in-depth approach than a career coach. Career coaches are not regulated by states and also tend to be more business-focused — a good fit for those who know what they want but need help achieving it. On the other hand, a career counselor provides guidance and clarity around some of the more emotional aspects that job hunting and career movement entail. Career counselors meet with you in a series of one-on-one sessions. They assess your personality and learn what drives you. They get a detailed understanding of your work history and your hopes, and often work to help you discover any internal blocks preventing you from going where you want to go. Hiring a career counselor is appropriate at any time in your career, from recent graduate to executive-level management.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
