I am pleased to announce that I will be offering drum lessons for the summer! I am highly experienced in a variety of musical styles, with a vast historical knowledge of drumming from my studies at UCLA. I recognize the individuality in music and in musicians. Therefore, in order to for a student to really absorb the most from my lessons, I form lessons based on what they want to learn, not what I think they should learn. It does not matter the skill level: from very beginning to advanced, there are things I can teach you to elevate your drumming to the level you imagine it can go. Lessons are generally held in my drum studio located at UCLA. However, if you live near Westwood and own a drumset, I am available to make house calls! I am a very easy-going person and will give lessons in a very encouraging environment, but I take music education very serious and employ highly structured lesson plans based on the student's individual skill level. Lessons are generally 30 minutes weekly or an hour bi-weekly. However, schedules are very flexible, and we can make something work no matter how tight your schedule is. So call me or email me, and lets get started turning you into the drummer you always wanted to be! All the best, Colin Short Colin Gordon Bio: Colin Gordon is a graduate University of California Los Angeles, earning a degree in Ethnomusicology. With a focus on performance, Colin was under the tutelage of jazz legends Kenny Burrell, James Newtown, and Tamir Hendelmen. He studies jazz drumming under brush master Clayton Camron as well as tabla under Abhiman Kaushal. Well-versed in the styles of jazz, rhythm and blues, rock, fusion, afro-cuban, funk, hip-hop and drum corps, Colin has already received both the ASCAP Foundation and Gluck Foundation scholarships for his excellence in the field of drumming. Colin has also received the 2009-2010 Music Outreach Scholarship for excellence in the field of music education. He currently works with Indie-Pop putting touring bands together and playing with such artists as Yuna, The Cataracs and Dev. With styles of music always merging and emerging, Colin's studies have revealed that it is absolutely necessary to understand and incorporate the full history of the music into your playing or writing. This is the only way to stay true and honest with the music, allowing you to break new boundaries while using the music of the past to carve a definite path. With ambitions and dedication as limitless as music itself, Colin looks to use his creativity and passion to leave an undeniable mark in music.(show more)

With each individual student, I offer exercises, songs and techniques to practice that will help you to immediately begin seeing positive results. I believe that anyone can play the guitar well and take their next step in music. It makes a big difference if you have the right teacher to help you learn the music you love. Most people who have attained proficiency on their instrument had someone who took the time to guide them along their way. Much of what is thought of as difficult to play or understand in music is only mysterious until it is explained and practiced intelligently. Learning an instrument in a music recording studio environment has many advantages and is a lot more fun, creative and rewarding. From your teacher jumping on drums or bass for you to develop your independence and timing as a player and recording prepared projects you've been working on, to playing at a higher volume to get to know your gear's real sound, the rocking memories you'll walk away with will fuel your inspiration to practice and improve fast. My focus is to help you achieve your goals on your instrument. Learn to play the music you love! Lessons are often followed up with custom-made instructional videos. Lessons are held at SAS Studios in Los Angeles. I offer a reduced rate trial lesson and multiple lesson package pay plans. For more information, please call or email me.(show more)
