A big 'Thank You' to Susan and Wild Thyme. I hosted a group of 12 friends for a 'wine sharing' party at my house, and since I don't know what wines my guests will bring, it was important to have a wide variety of tasty bites to nosh on. The Wild Thyme team totally knocked it out of the park with a continuous flow of awesome bites for us, including: charcuterie plate, brisket sliders, roasted brussel sprouts w/ a bacon jam, grilled cheese sandwich wedges (yum!!) and more. One of my favorites was a single shrimp with a citrusy sauce and avocado wedge served in fancy spoon...great presentation and flavor! (paired really well with sauv blanc!) Overall I couldn't be happier with the food, service and fun that Susan and her team provided for us. I highly recommend that you give Wild Thyme a try!
Had a great experience with Executive Chef Mark Kearney and Team. To set expectations before the review, I like to consider myself a food lover...not a critic, just a food lover. I love great dining experiences and am equally critical or disappointed when they fall short. My family and I were hosting Christmas Dinner for a total of 10 family members. I found Chef Mark on Thumbtack based on his previous reviews. Roy (part of Mark's team) promptly reached out with thought-starters for the meal and breakout of pricing. Over the next few weeks Roy, Mark and I worked closely crafting the perfect menu for my traditional Christmas dinner, while staying within my budget parameters. To note, Chef Mark is priced higher than some of the other chefs I was in contact with, but I'm glad we went with Mark based on the outcome. The menu consisted of 4 gourmet hors d oeuvres passed around while we opened presents. A fan favorite was the roasted fig with gorgonzola and prosciutto. Then time for dinner. We sat at the dining table and were served Butternut Ravioli as an appetizer, Lobster Bisque soup (a bit on the spicy side - only critique I have with the food all night) and an organic baby butterleaf salad with incredible apricot balsamic vinaigrette. The main course was both a grilled beef tenderloin (prepared to your liking) and pan roasted turkey breast. Sides that accompanied the main course were brocollini, green beans and bacon/garlic mashed potatoes. Everything (except the soup) was beyond 5 stars in terms of presentation, taste and expectations. Lastly we were served two very decadent and delicious deserts - a molten lava cake and traditional bread pudding. Two things to mention. My wife was forced (by her OBGYN) into a new diet two days prior to the Christmas dinner consisting of no dairy and no soy. When Chef Mark arrived we asked him what had dairy and soy ingredients and he quickly and thoughtfully mentioned that he could make my wife's servings without either dairy or soy. Talk about going above and beyond. This was much appreciated and set the tone for the entire dinner! I would potentially ask for two servers for the evening on future events. One to solely serve as sous chef, helping Mark prepare the food in the kitchen and the other server to help set the table, serve food, wine, etc.. throughout the evening. The 5 hours that Mark and Team allocate for the evening can go quickly. This might alleviate that. Either way, a great experience and thank you Mark and Team!
The Chef Mumsie dining experience was amazing! The meal she prepared was art at its best. The pot roast, sweet carrots and butternut squash were absolutely fantastic! The carrot cake and ginger lemonade tea were out of this world! Thanks for such a wonderful experience.
Nicole is an excellent chef. She's very chill and go-with-the-flow. It's apparent that cooking is her passion and she's at ease and skilled in the kitchen. She made steaks, mashed potatoes and green beans for a birthday dinner for 10 and it was delicious and beautifully presented. I highly recommend Nicole and would absolutely hire her again.
Chef Keith and his staff were great! He arrived early, set up amazing food stations and a bar for our non-profit cocktail party. The lamb chops, POKE station, "mushroom en croute", short rib skewers, cheese platter, and dessert bar complete with deep fried brownies were all a huge hit. Chef Keith really impressed my guests and made me look like a superstar hostess. I would hire him again and many of my friends and associates took his card for future catering events. Loved the bartender, server and Keith's helpers. My kitchen was spotless also...worth it!
Nancy came to my home and prepared a plant based dinner for our Moai group. It included stuffed portobello mushrooms, roasted vegetables, stuffed mini peppers and papaya lime sorbet. The food was excellent and was enjoyed by all. Nancy is professional, very knowledgable, warm and friendly.
Catering By Ashley was the perfect choice for our company Holiday Party - I am glad we found them, thanks to Thumbtack! Bill and Deborah were courteous, professional, and great to work with. Coalescence over seen by Chef L. Clumeck is an all in one catering experience providing the patron with a supreme dining atmosphere. Not only do they cater to any and all dietary needs but the food in its flavors and presentation are paramount. I have personally been lucky enough to enjoy a farfalle pasta dish done with a soft but luscious Italian style dressing, roasted asparagus in a balsamic reduction that makes my mouth water now and a variety of personalized pastries each one better than the last! I would highly recommend Coalescence to anyone looking to bring amazing palette enticement to their next event.
I love the Island Boy Spices. My favorite is Beach Bum; I use it on everything. Just last night I put it on my asparagus that I roasted, it turned out really good. One of my favorite things to do is make beer butt chicken. I put the Beach Bum seasoning all over the chicken and then bake so good!
Ale worked with our special request and was so accommodating and flexible. Our attendees loved both the BBQ chicken and especially the roast pig. Thanks so much for working with us. Certainly the first person I'd call for our next big event.
John & his crew catered our office Holiday Party, and we could not have been more pleased! John was a pleasure to communicate with, setting the event was a snap! We had a constant flow of fresh pizza, salads and roasted veggies that kept both the adults and kids happy :) Fahrenheit LA's use of fresh ingredients and seasonal vegetables are what make the food stand out and combined with the level of professionalism & friendliness from John & his staff- Amazing! Chef LaTay prepared an Excellent Brunch for my Father- in-Law's Home Going Celebration. The menu she suggested was a Hugh Hit! Pleasing to the palette and very nicely displayed. Everyone raved about the cheese grits and roasted potatoes, I still get compliments and the event was nine months ago! Since the event was buffet style her team also took charge of announcing and directing when each table came up an added plus for our family. Thank you Latay!
Monica did a catered lunch for a business meeting I arranged and it was delicious and impressive. Her presentation was beautiful, appealing, and everyone commented on how good the food was. She did a fantastic job, we had a few diet restrictions to work around and Monica met them all without compromising taste or flavor. I also have to say that I'm not a fan of brussel spouts until I ate Monica's roasted mix. I ate my veggies and asked for seconds.
I had a small dinner party for eight. I let her pick the menu, which included beautiful and tasty hors d'oeuvres, salad, tri-tip (with a wonderful sauce), roasted veggies, cheese & garlic toast, plus my favorite Cabernet, Clos du Bois. Dessert was a very rich chocolate (something I can't even pronounce), served with a wonderful roasted coffee.
James is an outstanding chef. He prepared a wonderful and elegant holiday dinner for 13 at our home. We had a four course meal, plus passed hors d'oeuvres during the cocktail hour. He arrived 3.5 hours before the event, with fresh ingredients for every part of the meal. He is meticulous and artful, creating dishes that are delicious and aesthetically interesting. I also suspect, based on watching him in the kitchen, that he has an extremely wide range and could cook anything. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed everything, including the Cornish hen that was a surprise to many who had expected a meat dish for the main course. Here's a look at the menu: -- Potato Leek Soup, crispy kale, roasted baby fennel, brioche croutons. -- Baby Asparagus (pencil point), toasted red quinoa, roasted red peppers, sherrylemon vinaigrette, roasted pumpkin seeds. -- Pumpkin Agnolotti, fresh ricotta, sage-brown butter, toasted pine nuts. -- Pan Roasted Cornish Hens, smoked arugula, young Pecorino polenta, charred tomato chutney. -- Chocolate Mousse Trifle, red wine braised cherries, toasted Macadamia nut whip cream. James introduced each course with a brief description, which was a nice touch. His two-person staff was extremely professional. He is really top-notch and helped create a wonderful experience for our guests. We look forward to having him back!
Michele La Porta is very professional, creative, passionate and pleasant to work with. She helped me plan the menu for my daughter's sweet sixteen birthday. She was on time for our meeting and very efficient in planning the menu. I tasted her crispy tuna with truffle oil and zucchini spaghetti salad which were amazingly tasty! Her food is all organic and the best quality. Her staff is friendly and professional. On the day of the party, they arrived on time and set up the appetizer table in no time! They were very organized and followed my instructions closely. For dinner Michele La Porta had prepared her lemon dill salmon that was moist and delicious along with ginger cumin chicken and roast beef cooked to perfection! Her quinoa salad and pear salad were a hit too! My daughter had Michele's famous starlette cake as her birthday cake which was amazing. The cake decorations were so elegant with fresh fruits and meringue. Merci beaucoup Michele for a wonderful experience!
I needed a chef for a dinner with family and close friends, and didn't want to (nor was I capable of ) cooking for 8 people. I found Susan on Thumbtack and what a great experience. We had some dietary requests such as the meal being dairy free.. Susan gave us some ideas/options, and after discussing what we liked the entire meal was amazing, great food family style. We had barbecued skirt steak with the most amazing chimichurri sauce, perfectly roasted fingerling potatoes, with salad, and vegetables and for desert personal fruits tarts with ice cream. Oh and to start, the most amazing curried butternut squash soup, just enough to get the taste buds going. I couldn't recommend Susan higher, everyone had a great time, super easy to deal with and such a great person. Thanks Susan, looking forward to next time.
I cannot recommend Are You Being Served Catering Enough! Rozanna and her staff went above and beyond to make our wedding day so special. The Food and the Service were Amazing. Our guests were all very well taken care of. They really enjoyed the entire event. My Husband and I were married at a Winery in the Dry Creek Valley with 100+ guests. We only had five months to plan the big day. Rozanna was so helpful and made me feel at ease. She was a huge part of planning the event from taking care of ALL of the rentals, designing an amazing menu of all of our favorite dishes and providing superb service. The staff at Are You Being Served Catering was so professional and friendly. Our Guests were very pleased with the service. They catered to our every need. They took care of everything. We couldnt have asked for more. They set up and took down our entire event and provided first class service the entire day. We had an hour long appetizer hour immediately following our ceremony so we could take our photos. I was worried everyone would get antsy waiting for us to finish up but they were happily enjoying themselves eating 3 choices of appetizers in the beautiful cocktail area on the lawn her staff created. It was fun for everyone to mingle and eat something very tasty before being seated for dinner. Our wedding dinner was so delicious. We had all of our favorite foods. The Tri Tip was the best I have ever had along with her horseradish sauce. Wow was I was a happy bride. The BBQ chicken, roasted vegetables and mashed potatoes were also great. We had a pasta bar as well which the kids and the adults at our wedding especially had fun with. There was something for everyone. The vegetarians were very pleased and had just as many great options to choose from. Our guests raved about the food. I heard over and over how great it ALL tasted. I am so happy Rozanna was our Caterer! It was the best decision I made for the event besides marrying my Husband of course  Rozanna was very patient and considerate with all of my indecisions and the typical frantic Bride moments. She was always available to answer my questions and make me feel at ease. I felt very confident that she was going to do an amazing job and she went above and beyond my expectations!!! Every detail was perfection. The food, the staff, the planning and the extremely valuable advice she provides after having so much experience in catering. I VERY highly recommend Are You Being Served Catering, Rozanna and her extremely well trained staff! You will not be disappointed. I threw my best friend a bridal shower and used The Private Chefs for catering. I heard great things about them from a friend and decided to give it a shot. Chef Andy was very accommodating and had tons of great ideas for food, especially since I'm not very creative when coming up with ideas for parties like this. We agreed on a menu and decided to do a buffet style lunch. He served an heirloom tomato salad that was so fresh and delicious and a Peruvian style roasted chicken that was probably one of the best chicken dishes I've ever had. His team was extremely professional and easy to contact whenever I had additional questions. I'm definitely going to use The Private Chefs for future parties. Thanks Chef Andy!
