Will was simply AMAZING! I booked him on short notice and he worked closely with me to make sure everything would run smoothly. I hired Will to take pictures of my nephew's outdoor wedding at the beach. Before hiring Will, I had a number of questions/concerns and not only did he answer all of them but mentioned things that I had overlooked...NOW THAT'S A PRO! The day of the wedding he was there super early and came fully prepared for a day of shooting. Will worked hard to get all the essential shots I had needed and requested. In addition, he knew exactly what he was doing and needed very little direction. WHAT A RELIEF for me not to have to worry about what the photographer was doing! And I met Will a total of three times and he was never late...PUNCTUAL INDEED! And now the photos: Awesome! Crisp, hi-res pics of family and of those family moments were everyone's face looks good. Great use of depth-of-field and interesting angle shots. Will treated every photo with utmost importance and I am extremely thankful for his level of service and the number of hours he put in behind the scenes to make the photos look spectacular. 5-star service and very reasonable pricing! I would definitely hire him again.

Brad is top notch. My wife and I hired him this past Saturday for our wedding. He was on time stayed a little extra and exceeded our expectations. He is a real artist. He is so instinctively quick and able to capture moments. He also has a strong crew. We opted for photos and video with Brad. We had children in our wedding party whom Brad photographed vivid and candidly. If anyone is in the market for a wedding photographer hire Brad on our recommendation, he could not have done a better job. Pure EXCELLENCE! Irene and Mark

Chris made himself available four days before my wedding when my other dj canceled. He was the absolute best about communication, very responsive. He also is able to mix the songs based on beat so that the dance floor wouldn't die down. It was obvious he had MC-ed a lot of weddings. I really appreciate him and would highly recommend him!

Steve did a great job at our wedding. He was quick with communication, made everything very simple and easy, and his lighting is awesome and transformed our space beautifully. He announced all the special events of our wedding reception well and wasn't loud or annoying like most DJ's can be. He also amazingly has pretty much every song on file. My only tip is to make sure you clarify what your favorite songs are to play for dancing . I gave him a lengthy list which he had all the files for, but with limited time not all were played. I also wish he could have been more pushy and inviting in a fun way during dancing to encourage more guests on the floor . Besides that it was a great experience overall!

Wedding Reception at my brother's home 8/1/15. Approximately 80 to 100 people. Couldn't have been happier!!! Overall rating "5" !!!!! Met with them and sampled food prior to booking event. They were very organized and on top of everything. Plus they are about the nicest people with the biggest smiles and great attitudes. They are there to please and they succeed!!!! Quality of food - excellent, I mean really good! Menu - they totally created the menu based on our request. It was perfect and our guests all commented on how good the food was. They were there working so hard, but one hardly noticed them. They were not a distraction at all and asked all the questions prior, so weren't always tracking me down to ask/find something. Service - They provided servers and they went over and above our expectations. Clean up - They cooked the food fresh (yes, I did say Fresh!!) at our venue, and left the place in immaculate condition. Costs - Very fair, and again exceeded our expectations in value vs cost. ALSO - they baked', decorated delivered and set up the cake. It was the best wedding cakes I have ever had - and again, many quests commented on how good it was. I cannot say enough good about them Boris and Carolina are so professional and good at what they do. They deliver over and above what they say and we would highly recommend them!!! They have our phone number, and if you would like to talk with us as a reference, I have told them it is okay to have customers call us.

We hired Joe as our Wedding Photographer this past may. We didn't start looking for a photographer til about 3 weeks before the event. But Joe did an amazing job for being given such short notice. He and his assistants were very professional. From what we'very seen from the proofing gallery, all of the pictures are beautiful.

I first hired her to video my father's funeral because my Aunt & Sister could not attend. I was expecting a straight reel, nothing extraordinary as it was a solemn occasion. She made the most memorable "movie" for me that I still watch to this day for comfort. It was just remarkable. She was professional and punctual and creative. We then hired her for our wedding reception video. Again, another fantastic video job with the "movie" she put together of the event. Such thoughtful moments she captured from the obvious to the fine details. Again, punctual & professional. Highly recommend her services. Everyone loved both videos.

Working with Julie was a total breeze, I would recommend her to anyone for makeup! I was searching for a makeup artist for the wedding and stumbled upon Julie's page. I am typically a very low-maintenance type, I don't typically wear makeup during the week, so I just wanted to look like an enhanced version of myself. And, budget friendly was a MUST! Upon first interaction with Julie, I was really amazed by her professionalism. She was ON IT. Count on prompt, detailed responses. She is very open and honest about her product and what my experience with her would be like. She has you fill out a consult form and send looks of makeup you'd like. I was really impressed by the detail- allergies, what your skin type is like, etc. She was also very conscious of my budget and worked with me for what I was looking for. Anyway, we did a trial for the engagement shoot, and spent some time going over looks and trying out shades that worked for my skin. Julie spent SO much focused time on me for my trial. We had a lot of fun working together as she is very easy to get along with. Julie's esthetician background influences her focus on skin. I love how she "pampers" the brides with a special mask before applying the makeup. It really makes your skin glow once all the makeup is done. I've never had my skin look so good! After seeing the engagement photos, I loved the natural look, but wanted a more dramatic look for the wedding. I trusted that she would nail it and she totally did. She made my eyes pop exactly how I wanted them to! I save the best two things for last: 1) We were at the wedding venue from 1:00 pm until 10 pm on an 85 degree day. I spent the entire night after dinner (about 6-10 pm) dancing. So imagine the toll that would take on my makeup. There was a photo taken of me right after and my makeup STILL looked in credible after all that sun and dancing! That was what really sold me on Julie. Not only is the initial product good, but it STAYED good the whole night despite the "wear and tear". That was my biggest "WOW" factor. 2) After the wedding... keep in mind this was well AFTER the wedding. I remembered "hey, Julie knows skincare, maybe she can give me some advice". I sent her a quick email asking about her favorite products and what my skin care goals were, and, in total Julie fashion, I get an incredibly helpful and detailed response for how to take care of my skin! Another big WOW. I couldn't believe how generous she was, even after my event was over. Julie is someone who really cares and is quick and happy to help. Could not recommend her more. Thank you, Julie, for making me look so fly on my special day!

I can't speak highly enough about Jose Castaneda aka DJ puzzle (owner of Full Crate Entertainment). His DJ services were a huge hit at our wedding this summer (07/2017) - all our guests raved about the great music! As someone who had never hired a DJ before I was a little intimidated by the whole process- but Jose made the entire thing feel effortless. First, he met with us in person to look at our space and discuss set up and how everything would work. He quickly made us feel comfortable and put our minds at ease. He even met with us in person a week before our wedding to go through all the details and make sure we felt comfortable with everything. The day of our wedding he arrived early to make sure everything was set up prior to guests arrival and was the hit of the party. He also spoke English and Spanish - which was perfect for our bilingual wedding. He played all the music we requested and was really good at feeling out the crowd. The dance floor was packed all night long. He was also good about taking requests but making sure to only play music we would like (which we discussed in advance). Getting a quality DJ truly sets the tone for the party and I couldn't be happier. Full Crate Entertainment offered services that were high quality and professional while still being incredibly warm and friendly. They truly went above and beyond. I was worried about affording a good DJ due to our very tight budget and was ecstatic to discover that not only are their rates incredibly reasonable - they are also all-inclusive (music, lighting, equipment, set-up, etc.) Look no further - DJ Puzzle has got your back and will make sure you have an amazing experience!

We loved our package! Mark is the sweetest and made me and my entire family cry after we viewed our wedding teaser because it was so beautiful. It was a great gift to the family members who were not able to make the wedding. My wedding video teaser was everything i was looking for and I highly recommend Marabate Studios and can't wait to work with Mark again.

Weddings are stupid and stressful but these guys were freaking amazing. They went so far above and beyond to make mine and Brians wedding day everything we dreamed of. No matter what I was thinking she was there. No matter when I texted or called she responded. Seriously the best choice ever.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
