About

Scott is honest and reasonably priced. He helped me understand and taught me more about roofing. He is punctual and thorough and very willing to explain and answer all my questions.after having dealt with many unscrupulous roofers I was so jaded and downright paranoid about having anyone up on my roof. Scott's no nonsense approach and his obvious knowledge of roofing made me feel secure and confident in his ability from the moment I met him.I would highly recommend Scott to anyone who needs a roof repair. I feel very lucky to have met him

About

You know how they say when it rains, it pours? Well... El Nino Rains plus our 30+ Year Old House equals ROOF LEAK. We needed a Roofer. We got three referrals here on Thumbtack. Of those three referrals, it was obvious that Erik Havens and his Advanced RoofLeak Solutions business was the roofer we should go with. Doing our own research on the referrals, we found that Erik's business Advanced RoofLeak Solutions Inc. is definitely a licensed contractor whose contractor's license is, yes, actually for roofing. The state contractors database confirms this. Also, we noted that Erik's roofing business is an "Inc." meaning his business is incorporated as a corporation. We liked that because to us that meant Erik most possibly had a smart stable business. The state corporate database confirmed his business' active corporate status. As for Erik himself, don't let his youthful looks make you wonder about his experience. This 30 year old guy knows his stuff. Roofing runs in his family. Erik has been working in roofing since high school. My impression is that Erik knows how to run a quality roofing business. He is very respectful and honest when dealing with his customers. And he takes pride in his work and is thankful for his customers hiring him to do the work. We never met Erik before. But if you talk to him for a while, then you may see the same forthright excellence that we see in Erik. So, what did Erik do for us? We had a leak in the roof. This was for the roof on top of the garage for our 30+ year old house which has a red tile roof. Erik went up onto the roof with his ladder and immediately pointed out a row of tiles that were sliding down opening up an exposed area where the rain came in. That exposed area then affected an 8-ft by 8-ft area. That effect was obvious to us from inside the garage looking up at the underside of the roof where we can see a big wet stained area. Erik's work included disassembling the tiles for that section on top of the roof, putting in new underlayment material, applying roof mastic sealant, and then reassembling the red tiles back in properly aligned rows. (And there were lots of hammer pounding and other loud noise while he was working up there on the roof.) And afterwards, while he was still up there, Erik additionally checked the rest of the roof, he resealed any vent pipes (and whatever else) that needed new sealant, also checked the stability of the sun roof up there, and looked for any other potential problem tiles that could possibly be sliding out of place. There were a few other tiles beginning to slide down a bit. Sliding tiles seem to be a typical potential problem for old tile roofs. Erik secured those few other tiles pushing them back into place. Erik said the underlayment for those few other tiles was still fine. One other thing that Erik did was to clean out the gutters and make sure they were secure. Yes, imagine that: a 30+ year old house with gutters that have never been cleaned out until now. One of the gutters on the second story roof was full of leaves. Erik cleaned that out. So, Erik did a really complete job and more! My impression is that Erik is a busy roofer who is in demand. In my conversations with Erik while he was up on the roof, with myself watching him from down below, Erik mentioned how the El Nino Rains and Winds have been bringing him so much business going his way. (My guess is that this was even before El Nino as people wanted to secure their roofs in time for when El Nino arrives.) Yeah, Erik is apparently very very busy. Meanwhile, our neighbor was also looking up watching Erik and was apparently interested in also hiring Erik to work on his roof, and ended up having their own conversation as to when Erik would look at the neighbor's roof. So, Erik is apparently a busy guy, who does quality work, and is in demand. He works on roofs all over San Diego County. He goes wherever the work is located. If you are considering whether to hire Erik, we would strongly say that based on our experience to give him a call or to send him a message here via Thumbtack. Also, definitely give him your phone number and your address so he can figure out when to schedule a visit to actually look at your roof in order to give you a proposed written estimate. Erik's proposal for fixing OUR roof was a good reasonable fair price. My suggestion is to NOT go cheap in repairing your roof. The two other referrals that we got from Thumbtack would have been cheaper and would have undercut Erik's proposal where one thumbtack referral was from an unlicensed roofer who was not in the state contractors database and the other thumbtack referral was from a solar guy whose contractor's license was for electrical. For our roof, we were willing to pay a little more for a quality roof repair by a licensed experienced roofer (whose contractor's license was actually for roofing) and we expected the roofer to stand behind his work. And we indeed got a qualified licensed experienced roofer in Erik Havens and his Advanced RoofLeak Solutions business. Thanks Erik.

About

Johnny Jensen of San Diego Handyman will get it done for you! Please read my reviews, and check out the pictures in my profile. I am the family's handyman! I am capable of residential and commercial projects. I've been in the telecom (large business PBX or I.T. field) industry for the last 25 years, but I've always had the knack for being mechanically inclined my entire life (thanks to my worldly father). I have been offering my skills out to family and friends for over 30 years and more so, since early 2010 as a handyman for hire due to being laid off from my I.T. industry job. I am a licensed business with the county of San Diego as both "San Diego Handyman" and "Johnny Jensen." I have also partnered with two general contractors for the larger projects. They are as follows: * "Butterfield Construction" (CA license number 664058) * "Benchmark Builders" (CA license number 855037/998656) Like most, no job is too small, and none is too large. So please ask if you don't see something addressed or listed in my profile. I won't take on a job that I'm not 100% comfortable with or that I can't provide a guarantee. I'm capable of vast projects. From remodeling of an entire house (utilizing general contractors) to swapping out a garbage disposal; I can get it done for you. My hourly rate is reflected upon the actual work I'm doing, and it ranges anywhere from $25 to $65 per hour (averages at $45/hour or better at $350/day). I prefer to work by the hour (plus materials), but I can also provide a project quote if more than 2 or 3 days' work is involved and a site visit has been performed. I have plenty of references who can also give you a personal review of my work and its quality or me as a reliable, honest, and hardworking individual, if needed. Just ask (I will not post customers' numbers publicly on Thumbtack until I verify that they are willing to be used as references before giving out their phone numbers). I am located in San Diego, but I can travel, and I will, if compensated, to North County, South Bay, Orange County, El Centro or up to 100 miles from my home. Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear from you. Have a good day! Please check the websites I've listed on my profile for future updates and picture galleries showing more of the work performed as well as reviews from previous customers. Not all of my work is obtained through this Thumbtack website. So if you don't see updated reviews, please understand that I'm still busy, just not with via Thumbtack requests. The web link is provided in my profile below. Please understand, in my spare time, I am updating the website myself. Give it time, and it will become a great resource for you and future customers. I'm also capable of things like the following: * Remodeling (design to finish product) * Masonry (tile, granite, stone or similar installations) * Flooring (wood, laminate, tile, etc.) * Electrical (receptacles, lighting, ceiling fans, whole house fan, etc.) * Concrete (stamped, color, etc.) * Welding (steel, aluminum, MIG and GTAW) * Metal fabrication (off road, decorative, etc.) * Carpentry (patio covers, trellis, decks, arbors, etc.) * Roofing (repairs, tear off, reroof, etc.) * Home theater designs and installations * Hauling (trash, vehicles, material, etc.) * Indoor plumbing * Security cameras, installations and configuration * Sprinkler systems, landscapes, etc. * Computer (building, troubleshooting and virus removal for PC only) * Home low voltage cabling/wiring (internet, phone, etc.) * Furniture assembly (interior furniture, outdoor play sets, etc.) * Demolition projects * Water damage repairs I can also do things like the following: * graphic design (marketing, flyers, etc.) * web design and implementation * video editing and conversion (movie making, VHS to DVD, etc.) * light auto mechanical work, restoration, etc. * RV and camping trailer solar installations, plumbing, wiring, etc. Most often, I'm asked to do the following services: * Replace flooring with wood or tile * Remodel bathrooms (tear out and rebuild) * Repair or replace fencing * Assemble outside playgrounds * Install TV mount and TV (hide wiring) * Install new lighting (upgrades) * Build patio covers, gazebos, trellises, etc. * Repair computers (recover hard drives, virus removal, etc.) * Fix lawn dead spots and redesign sprinkler systems * Repair autos and motorcycles * Indoor plumbing (kitchen or bathroom faucets, toilets, etc.) * Repair water damage (drywall, molding and cabinets) * Off-road fabrication and welding * Demolition work (removal of concrete, flooring, trash, etc.) * Honey-do lists around the home I am sorry to say, but I do not give free estimates. My estimates are predetermined at $40 for a site visit. I have to cover a bit of my time and more importantly, my fuel costs. However, if you choose me as the person to do your work, I'll credit you back the $40 on that first day of work or on your actual invoice (whichever comes first). Thank you for understanding. -- Johnny Jensen

About

We hired Tom after obtaining two other roofing estimates. The other companies told me we needed to replace the entire section of my roof which would cost thousands of dollars. Tom came out and found the problem and fixed only a small section and we saved a substantial amount of money. He was on time, friendly, honest and a professional. We hired him again after our roof had another leak in a different area one month later. We will not hire anyone else but Tom. His knowledge is superior and his work ethic is excellent.

I never know to believe these rating systems because I wonder if companies post their own. Morrison Hope Roofing did an outstanding job on my roof. Punctual, right on the estimate, very need, finished when they said they would. I would highly recommend them to any home owner.

About

I place a premium on timeliness and professionalism. I did my homework checking various sources prior to inviting Nate and his crew to quote on my roofing repair. At the same time, I contacted two other companies for bids to compare. Nate responded quickly and the gentleman from Cornerstone that gave me an appraisal was right on time and clearly knew what he was doing. I received the best bid as well as a very informative evaluation of my roof problems. The second company was twice the price and the third could not send someone to give me a price at least for another week. I felt confident in hiring Nate. He and his crew showed up right on time and stuck to their estimate, both in price and in the time to complete the job. They kept me informed every step of the way and provided me photos of the progress to my cell phone in real time. They did a thorough cleaned up of the site. I was sincerely impressed with their very positive and professional attitude and quite pleased with the finished product. My grandfather was a building contractor and many of my family are in the building trades. I have a great appreciation for craftmanship and dedication to doing the job right. I highly recommend Nate and Cornerstone Roofing to anyone in need of such services. Better to do it right, than have lots of regrets later! Rick A.

I called Weather-Tech Roofing to get an opinion on a previous roofing job. Ryan came out to look at the work this other company said they completed. After the inspection, he was able to tell me that I had basically been ripped off by this other company. He didn't pressure me to have Weather-Tech do the repairs, which means to me, that he was being honest. He even said he would talk with the tech who did perform the work just to ask why they thought the repairs were acceptable.
