We were ultimately disappointed in choosing to work with AveTex. We needed to have our back door replaced. We signed an estimate agreement with AveTex so that they could go ahead and request the city permit and we ordered the specific door and dog door that they recommended. AveTex messaged us about a week later canceling our project because of something related to changes in their liability policy. They said that they are no longer able to do doors and windows. Not sure whether to believe them or not, but it seems unlikely that in such a short period of time a large change in their liability coverage would take place without any advanced warning. The frustration on our end, besides the time and energy lost in the planning and signing with them, is that the other contractor alternatives that we have now sought out all suggest buying a door with the dog door already built-in. They said it will be cheaper and more professional/intentional looking. Well … we already have the door ordered and on its way and will have to figure out how to return a whole pre-hung door if we follow the other contractor’s recommendations. The one contractor we found that would install the dog door on the door we already purchased, charges more than what the total would be buying a different door with a pre-installed dog door. Overall, we’ve ended up losing a lot more time, energy and money than was necessary for replacing a door.
