Professional, on time. John is tutoring my 10 year old son in math, specifically, common core math. John is very patient which is what my son needs. I try to help him but I lose my patience which frustrates both of us. I am glad John is able to help and I hope my son will improve his math skills. John has tutored Christopher twice only so I hope this review is helpful. So far, I would recommend John.

Met with John once or twice a week over the course of several months during my GMAT preparation. I started out with a 13th percentile quantitative score. After working with him I was able score in the 73rd percentile on my first official GMAT, exceeded my initial goal by scoring ABOVE a 700. I had no formal quantitative training or experience prior to studying; the last math class I took was as a sophomore in high school (a decade ago). Each time I met with John, he was able to go beyond simply correcting my mistakes. He clearly explained the overarching reasoning, strategy and logic behind a certain problem. This is something the video explanations in GMAT curriculum do not do as thoroughly as John. If you're looking for someone to discuss GMAT concepts with in a clear and intelligent way, I highly recommend him. I also studied using curriculum like Target Test Prep, but John helped me tremendously by working through the problems I struggled with step by step and identifying any weak spots in my quant skills. He understands the GMAT and is able to identify the kinds of questions that likely would or would not appear on the exam. Finally, John served as a strong source of moral support throughout a challenging three months of study atop a full time job. When I wanted to try a new curriculum or ask him about tricky questions via email, he would always offer thoughtful feedback in response. His responses were especially helpful when I scored low on practice exams; John's feedback always helped me put things in perspective and helped me get back up and try again. He was very flexible and willing to work with my schedule and make time when needed, often on short notice. In short, I couldn't have done it without him!

It is very difficult to find an AP calculus tutor who knows what here she is talking about. Then I had heard of Arbor Tutors through a friend and called them. The tutor met me at the library every Saturday for 12 weeks and completely turned around my grades. I went from a C average to a high B+ and now I'm starting to get A's. Yay for Arbor Tutors!

Pio is very good at catering the lesson to my needs - where I am at in the learning curve, and helping fill in any gaps in my knowledge of mathematics. He also helps create a plan and gives homework to accomplish my goal.

As a Math tutor Sherill is very supportive and has encouraged me to keep trying, even when a times I feel that math is a mystery than can not be resolved. She also is punctual, attentive to my own doubts and bring materials to make the lessons more understadable.

Thank goodness we found Janet. She is the perfect tutor!! Down to earth, great with kids, trustworthy, thorough, and just fantastic. My son was behind in math and within a few months was at grade level and more importantly loving math! He gained skills and confidence and this was because of his work with Janet.

Lisa taught me how to write in just a few months. Even though I was a college junior at the time, I never knew how to write until Lisa became my tutor. I am now a successful psychologist who has written several manuscripts. I will always be grateful to Lisa for what she taught me! Dr. Tabin

About

Laila’s appreciation and passion for learning and teaching came at an early age. Teaching Saturday playschool activities at the age of 12, she had her first TA position at her British Secondary school by 15, and began teaching English and Math through cartooning at 18. She is also academically excelled in that she began programming at 11, studied artificial intelligence at 16, 10 GCSE’s, 4 A’ Levels. A very extensive BA and double Masters (which she completed simultaneously in 2.5yrs with a GPA of 3.93) which are MBA in marketing and management and an MIT in Applications development, and several certifications. Currently she tutors and teaches over 63 subjects, high-stakes standardized tests and study skills. Her secret is her aggressive desire to learn and having a highly skilled memory system does provide a great tool. She uses visual cues, technological mediums and traditional learning methods in order to provide the best possible results. She works with students from K-12, undergrad, and grad, from different learning curves including those with ADD and dyslexia. I truly do believe that education is a vehicle to pursue success. I enjoy teaching and facilitating the learning process. There is something amazing that happens when you watch a student learn and achieve understanding and in turn reach a higher grade or pursue further education. I am young, well educated in a variety of subjects. I do research on topics prior to meeting with students and I have both online, one-on-one and group tutoring/ teaching experience. I make teaching an understanding not just -'you need to learn this because you have to'. I try my best to find how you can best learn and apply those methods that suit you. Everyone is different and deserves to learn the way that they can achieve the most out of and to excel. I like to think of myself as well rounded and having worn many different hats to teach myself to become as versatile and knowledgeable in as many areas as I could. This I have practiced in my professional career as a brand specialist and as a tutor. I have pursued an extensive degree in undergrad, 2 masters and several certifications as well as a 20 year history as a tutor. "People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone." Audrey Hepburn.
