I've had the pleasure of having Debbie cook for my husband and I in our home and highly recommend her as a personal chef. Debbie's cooking is light, healthy and deeply flavorful. She cooks with fresh herbs and vegetables -- easily tailoring a meal to my preferences and what we have available in our pantry. She is meticulous in the kitchen and in the presentation. The final plate looks as fantastic as it tastes.
I used Flavors of Magick to provide bartender services for a party I hosted in my home. The owner was so easy to work with. And, she went above and beyond what I expected. She helped me put together a list of specialty cocktails and she sent me a grocery list of everything to buy (with quantities and estimated prices). It made everything so easy for me. On the day of the event she showed up on time and did a great job setting up. My guests had a wonderful experience and the drinks were fabulous.
Sat was our personal chef for a week, several times during the year. The food he prepared was nutritional and yummy. He spent time with us before he prepared the meal to find out our dietary needs and health issues. He gave us suggestions after the week was over to continue our healthy lifestyle and helped us with meal plans and recipes for the future. He is friendly, professional and cares about what we put in our bodies. I would hire him in the future.
Chef Cheri has been an ABSOLTE PLEASURE to work with during the prep phase for my friends' special Romantic Dinner for Two! Chef Cheri is extremely professional, open to suggestions, and committed to creating the perfect event! I will surely leave more comments after the dinner.... I know it will be AMAZING!
Chef James is an artist. Good chefs are. He is also an excellent teacher – in all the best aspects of the word. He explains the foundation of what he is doing. He repeats and demonstrates basic cooking concepts in different ways to make sure ALL of his class catches on. He talks about cooking theory – but reduces it to immediate practice. His lesson about the difference between taste and flavor was perfect (you need to talk with Chef James). More importantly he lets the class do the work and learn. How awesome is that. Oh yes, you and your friends (or family) have fun.
Laura was our personal chef for an evening. Eight girlfriends, fabulous evening, lots of wine and the food was delicious! Laura knows how to throw a party, everything was taken care of including dishes and clean up. Thank you.
Rocco was our personal chef and cooked us a great meal, with a perfect matching wine selection. Splendid six-course meal with true respect for the purity of the ingredients. Three types of cherry-tomato each tasted different and totally lifted the flavor of the perfectly cooked salmon. The wine selection was as respectful in its tastes and purity. We can fully recommend Rocco as a talented chef and host, even in your own home. He'll take over your kitchen and treat you and your guests to a star-dinner, right in your own home. Daniella was extremely professional, her food was tasty and it was loaded with veggies. I was nervous beforehand as I have never hired a personal chef before, but Daniella assured me that all would be well. I really appreciated her warm and grounded energy. I also liked that she explained the menu and ingredients to my party. Her staff person was also competent and had good energy too.
Having worked with a few different chefs, with varying results, I can enthusiastically recommend Chet Chase! From start to finish, working with him was a pleasure. Prior to my event, Chet proactively responded to my requests, suggesting options, working with my budget and numbers - and adjusting the menu when my numbers changed. During my event, Chet and his assistants were thorough, on-time, organized, adding an item on the fly, and provided a seamless experience. And something I have not seen from other chefs - clean, stocked with their own cleaning supplies, and left the kitchen as clean as it ever was. I will definitely be using Chet Chase for my next event!
On December 23, 2015 approximately 40 Earlimart Seniors participated in its annual Christmas Dinner. Chef Albert and his sous chef prepared a delicious and nutricious meal. The seniors were very pleased with the meal as many "mmm's" and "this is gooood" were heard from the people seated at the tables. Chef Albert prepared a very tender roastbeef, so tender it melted in your mouth.He also introduced our seniors to eating kale. Rounding out the meal was a crisp green salad with cranberries and walnuts, mashed potatoes and dessert. The chefs were very gracious with the seniors - talking and mingling with them and even taking pictures. Everyone left with a smile on their face and a delicious meal in their tummy! We are looking forward to our next meal with Chef Albert- who is innovative and still provides a very satisfying meal. Kudos Chef !
Rose Johnson Catering was my party partner for our son’s engagement celebration last weekend in Orinda. The party was a huge success, and Rose and her team deserve much credit for the success. Rose responded to my Thumbtack inquiry with a prompt, thorough, and reasonable bid. However, after viewing her beautiful website, I replied to Rose that while I personally thought her menus were perfection, my son had specified that he did not want the food for his party to be “too fancy.” I told Rose the party would be a casual afternoon affair on our deck and I feared her culinary talents would be wasted on my son and my husband. Rose persevered, pointing out in her reply that she could do a barbecue with a southwestern flavor. The food need not be "fancy," she observed, but it should be tasty. And she sent me a custom menu that my son, his fiancée, my sisters, my husband and I all proclaimed perfect, including seared medium rare tri-tip of beef with chimichurri sauce, grilled cilantro chicken with tortillas, chipotle laced potato salad, and Mexican rice, bean, and corn salad. But Rose did not stop with sending me the menu; she said she would use my kitchen and grill on my deck, ensuring the food would be fresh as well as tasty. And after I hired her, she came to my home to check out my kitchen, my deck, and my grill and advised me on renting and setting up dining rounds and serving tables, as well as how to ensure good traffic flow for 50 guests. Rose is a real party expert, and I am not, so her advice was very much appreciated. The day of the party, Rose, Floricel and Esteban arrived a full two hours early and took charge. I hired Rose Johnson Catering for the food, which they delivered beautifully. As it turned out, they helped with the entire party, going above and beyond in many instances and showing poise and flexibility in the face of surprises, like my son’s decision to give a speech and set off a round of champagne toasts before dessert. Rose poured the champagne herself. Several guests asked me during the party: Who catered this? Who is your caterer? I happily provided several referrals to Rose Johnson Catering. Guest comments about the food were very positive: Mike: “The tri-tip was great.” Helen: “The grilled chicken was fabulous.” Kay: “I loved the potato salad. And the guacamole was wonderful.” Liz: “So nice to have so many dishes gluten-free.” Cindy: “The brownies were amazing. I told them so.” Bill: “Those parfaits were a big hit.” Matt: “Great food! Great service!” There was plenty of food for 50 guests, even with 1/3 of them being hungry 20-something friends of my son’s from high school and college. We even had leftovers, which Rose packed up and left in my refrigerator, along with leaving my kitchen cleaner than she found it. My husband, son, future daughter-in-law and I made a brunch of the leftovers the next day, sharing the delicious food and happy memories of a wonderful party. Best of all, this was the first party I’ve ever hosted where I had a great time myself. I don’t think I’ll have another big party again without booking Rose Johnson Catering!
Hassan is very responsive to the customer's wishes, he answers texts and phone calls promptly, he is a very hard worker, a pleasant person and an excellent chef. However, there was a snafu with a missing ingredient which he had to run and get, and this put a kink in the flow of the evening. Before he left to the grocery, he put most of the menu out for people to enjoy, but by the time he got back and prepared the final dish, people had put their plates down; they all had to be collected, washed and restocked for use again. For this confusion, there needed to be another person to either run to the store or to collect and wash the dishes so the flow was not so interrupted. I would hire Hassan again.
