Carl is an experienced tutor who provides more than just "homework help" or "test prep." He helped my son with valuable life lessons like organizing his notebook and assignments. He also instructed him to advocate for himself by encouraging him to speak to his teacher after school and to be more proactive about raising his hand in class. Carl was able to identify why my son was struggling, and it had nothing to do with actual understanding of the subject matter. Rather, it was inadequate teaching materials (handouts) and a less than optimal style of teaching. Once these problems were identified, we were able to come up with solutions that would help my son succeed in class. Most importantly, Carl is not just concerned with grades and test scores. His primary concern is that the student actually knows and understands the work. I would not hesitate to refer Carl to anyone needing a tutor for their child.
Lisa-Beth is a great tutor and is teaching me business English and grammar lessons. Our first meeting was easy to schedule and she made me feel comfortable. Would highly recommend her to anyone wishing to learn quickly and correctly.
We highly recommend Lois For tutoring. She is well known in Honolulu and has years of experience. She tutored our granddaughter when she needed to take the entrance exams into private schools. Lois has great knowledge of children and skill in getting them to do their work. Her lessons were challenging and fun. Our grandaughter could hardly wait to return to her next session. We wish Lois was here to tutor our grandaughter in her college SATS. Carol Lehman
We started using Mike's services when we switched elementary schools last September. Our son was just beginning Common Core and we wanted to make sure he could keep up with the rest of the class as he is one of the youngest kids. Mike's lessons on basic math skills--such as place value, equations, counting money and telling time--have been an invaluable part of our son's academic success. Mike also makes math fun and interesting for our son--so much so that he looks forward to Mike's visits. He is friendly and knowledgeable and easy to schedule. We want to note that we had tried another tutor last summer. In the 12 weeks we used her (multiple times each week), our son did not progress much at all. That was the main reason we looked around for another tutor. (That and the fact that our son was starting to hate math.) Instead of multiple weekly sessions, it's one weekly in-depth session. Mike's background, skills and experience as a tutor are clearly evident. We highly recommend him.
Jeffrey is a very focused teacher and has a relaxed and encouraging demeanor which is allowing our daughter to learn a strategy for taking these entrance exams. Not sure what the outcome will be but so far she has improved her test taking skills at school. Thanks Jeffrey!
Joyee Lin of Thinque has been nothing short of amazing. Professional with results to show. My daughter started working with Joyee a couple of months ago. Within six lessons, my daughter's composite ACT score went from a 28 prior to working with Joyee to a 32. Amazingly, her science score went from a 25 to a 32. Those numbers are the end result of Joyee's professional approach to teaching. During the lesson, Joyee utilizes a number of methods to present the material. It must be said that my daughter took his instruction seriously and worked hard on the material which was provided to her. The result was a good example of team work in which my daughter could receive, in addition to immediate instruction, quick review and understanding after working through the material. Joyee makes it easy to work around a busy lifestyle as he schedules and responds to correspondence promptly. We can't offer him enough praise. Joyee is offering an amazing service and we were so glad to have been referred to him.
We chose Elite and were so happy we did! My son struggled in math and he needed more support than the school offered. College prep is tough, I couldn't even help him! Haha Well, we called Elite and Eric matched him up with Tony. We liked that Tony came to our house for a free session before I had to commit to ordering sessions. I always wondered how that worked so you know your kid will for sure like the tutor and want to learn! We're very pleased, thanks again.
Daniel tutored me for about 8 weeks, 2-3 times a week for the GRE. He was friendly, knew his stuff, and definitely helped me to remember my high school math from over 5 years ago. Great tutoring experience!
We had our daughter meet the tutor at the local library four times a week after school for six weeks. She went from a low C to a solid A. What more can we ask for?
Physics lessons with Tran was very well done. I'm doing much better in my college class now, I'm going to call elite if I need more help. Thanks Tran
Sarah helped my son to pass his Algebra M03 class at Moorpark College after failing the first time. My son struggled with math in high school and generally has an aversion to the subject. We hired Sarah and he not only passed but earned a B grade! Sarah is very kind and considerate and cares about her students. We will be using her again.
Knows his stuff. Very precise and love the written homework after every lesson. Highly recommend.
I have two children that are tutoring with Nancy. My children were behind in school but after tutoring with Nancy they are making leaps and bounds in their academic studies. Nancy is very professional, fun, engaging, and patient. We're happy to have found her. Thank you Nancy!
Its difficult for me to put into words this review for Club Z, without sounding like a paid advertisement for the company. But the truth of the matter is: Our experience with Club Z's service from the first time we met Mary Beth has been extraordinary. Her ability to key in on the areas of challenge with our daughter was the first thing I noticed. Which was evident for me that this was more than just getting business. She was preparing from day one a strategic plan to get results. And, I can live with that. The tutor she assigned to our 5th grader was absolutely what we needed. Lisa came to our home, sat down at the table with our daughter, coached her out of her shell, and into communications that often take my daughter hours of getting familiar, to do. I once ease dropped in on the lessons Lisa was working with her on, and the engagement was great. our daughter was asking questions, and providing answers, and the cherry on top was hearing the tutor say, Okay, lets go back over it to make sure you understand it. That is more than teaching in my opinion. That was training in motion. And, I am extremely pleased with the results. I, highly recommend Club Z to parents, looking for professional and friendly service all the way through the process. Thank you Mary Beth, and Lisa for all that you've done for us.
I have struggled in math for so many years, in middle school, high school, and until this year college but anyways this year we started working with Rachel and I got an A in math. This is amazing, I tought I would never be good in math but she proved me im wrong. She is very patient, helpful, she is very organized and she will show you how hard and complicated problems turn out simple and easy. I totally recommend her!
Cindy and everyone at Rainbow tutoring are some of the kindest individuals I have met. The wisdom Cindy bestowed on me while helping me through my college application process will be with my forever and I am so grateful. Cindy helped me figure out what I wanted in my college experience and gave me the tools to get myself there. She introduced schools that I wouldn't have seen myself at and helped me get myself to Santa Clara University. She is beyond inspirational and such an empowering woman that is a role model to any and all of her clients. Cindy and her team are smart, dedicated, and reliable- they are always able to help and are great mentors to have before going off out of high school and into a college or real life environment. Cindy especially is very clear and really walks you through the steps to understanding in both Math, Writing, and the SAT Prep. I am so thankful to have met and able to work with you guys !
I spent a lot of time looking for tutors for my 2 daughters and it was hard to find someone who could help 2 kids in one day. One of my daughters is ADHD and the other is behind in school. He also explained to me what my ADHD child should eat and shouldn't eat to balance and to help her focus. He is very knowledgeable with the topics he teaches and spends extra time as needed to make sure my children understood and tries to finished up homework. He is caring and very patient. Very good tutor.
After a couple less-than-stellar tutoring experiences via Thumbtack, I feel incredibly fortunate to have found Sol. My tutoring needs were somewhat unusual: after a 10-year hiatus, I needed to reacquaint myself with high school math in order to pass a placement test into a college-level calculus I course. Far easier said than done. Sol was up for the challenge, and knew just how to tackle it. After I had diligently dug out of my old textbooks from my parents' garage, Sol offered an anecdote about his dear friend and and former Cal-Tech college roommate when he was confronted with modern-day high school math. (Sol, you see, is not only an incredibly savvy tutoring professional, but also a retired JPL scientist--and a thoroughly interesting, thoughtful and personable man to boot.) As Sol's anecdote helped to illustrate, the scope of high school math has evolved in recent years, in ways even the former president of Hughes Aerospace, in a moment of complacency, would fail to appreciate. Pre-Calculus theses days focuses much more on the interpretation of graphs, and introduces concepts such as solving and plotting the inverse of linear and fractional equations, which wasn't even taught when I took the course circa 2000. At Sol's request, we set aside my old textbooks in favor of modern coursework that he provided. It was a few months later, at our last lesson, that I was able to truly appreciate how much Sol cares about his students. In his office, I happened to glance at a computer window where Sol had a folder with my name and files charting 'Goals', 'Progress' and 'Notes'. Sol's hard work and investment in my success paid off: on my placement test I scored a 98%--surpassing the score I had needed for calculus I and placing me into calculus II! As Sol predicted, the test had focused quite extensively on those more modern facets of pre-calculus that he had taught me. Now in calculus II, I feel utterly prepared, and only have Sol to thank. *Highly* recommended.
I have been getting tutored with Tutisto for a little over three years now! I always struggled with math and going to Pali High a school with an awful math department eager to make kids hate math. I was lost, and my hate for math only grew after my first year of math at Pali and it reflected in my grade. It wasn't that I hated math, it was more how it made me feel; stupid and dumb. Tutisto provided me with a very qualified tutor that taught me the information in a technique that was personal for me, something that public school lacks. After three plus years I can confidently say i no longer hate math and feel confident taking my college placement test! Never in a million years would I ever think that I could say something like that! During my senior year, I struggled with processing research papers and certain books, so Tutisto provided me with another very qualified tutor that is able to help me in a very personal way perfect for my learning style! I am beyond thankful for Tutisto as they have made an everlasting impact on my life!
I found Ms. Harris after a long search for a tutor for graduate school. She was perfect from the start - very professional, on time, had a lot of experience and great references. I am recommending her to everyone I know!
