Francisco was able to accommodate a short notice project to replace some flashing on a tile roof and did the job very reasonably. He was on time for the scheduled appointment and was all around very pleasant to work with.

I feel very fortunate that I ran across Steve Petersen and his Mountaintop Construction company when it was determined that I would need a new roof on my house as a result of the large May 8, 2017 hail storm in the Denver, Colo. metro areas. Steve got in touch with me almost immediately after he was referred to me by a referral company called Thumbtack. Steve gave me a more than fair quote on price to replace my roof and had no problems with my waiting a couple of months to have the roof done. Steve helped me all the way through the job, coming out to check out my roof and provide me with his estimate within 24 hrs. I am an 81 yr. old Senior and don't always understand everything and Steve was very patient and thorough in explaining everything so that I would understand it all. He checked my insurance adjuster's estimate and his estimate was within the insurance estimate. He ordered the materials for me and was here up early and monitored the roofing crew's work until the job was done. He relieved me of my anxiety and lack of knowledge on all that had to be done, type of material and how much etc. I could not be happier and feel very lucky and fortunate that I had a man like Steve helping me get the new roof done. If I ever need another roof or other work done that his company does, I will not hesitate to call him again and also will refer anyone I know who is looking for a contractor to call Steve and his company, I have no regrets and am sure anyone else would not have any regrets either. There are good companies, and medium companies and poor companies, Steve's Mountaintop Construction Company happens to be an Excellent and Outstanding company in my mind. One of the best of the best. It was a joy working with Phillip. He performed siding repair and HVAC work at my home. He went beyond the call of duty to point out other issues that needed rectifying with my siding, located a source of water leaking that no one else could, and offered to caulk items on my roof that another contractor had not done well. I have a lot of trust in his competence and character and had no problems leaving the house open for him while I was at work. It was a very stress-free and pleasant experience working with him. He was also very helpful in educating me on how to work with my insurance company on my repairs. I will definitely use him again for my home repairs.

I hired them to do repairs on a tile roof and small play house. They gave an estimate for the house but said they forgot to look at the play house. I explained the play house had shake shingles that had blown off during our last wind storm and told them the size of the roof. He informed me that they don't carry shakes anymore but they would match the shingles to the shed that sits next to the play house. At the time I was assured it would be done for $100-$150 to which I agreed. The work was completed in a timely manner but when I received the bill the play house was $250. When I called to inquire why the bill was $100 more than quoted I was told he didn't realize it had shakes and they had to make a run to purchase the shingles and he had $100 in materials and "That's what the bill is." He was unwilling to discuss this further with me. The work was fine however, please use caution dealing with this company as they do not stand by their word!

I will DEFINITELY hire them again whenever I need roofing, gutters, and siding - Alex found and fixed all the issues with the gutters and downspouts at a very reasonable price, and even painted the downspouts to match the color of the house! He also re-cleaned the gutters as the person who cleaned them the week before did not clean them properly - all within the cost he quoted me!! Alex is a very conscientious person with a very polite and professional demeanor. You won't be disappointed if you hire them - believe me:)!T

Brent with Ropa roofing came by to inspect my roof after I had noticed some leaking on my ceiling. I fully expected there to be roof damage causing the leaking and wanted to get quotes from different roofers in the area for replacement. First off, Brent was very professional and knowledgeable. I felt very comfortable with his ability to assess the condition of my roof, lend his expertise in working with my insurance company, and ultimately hiring him for the replacement of my roof. After inspecting my roof, Brent said that the roof is actually in decent condition and would not require replacement. This helped me to trust Brent even more knowing that many contractors will do anything they can just to get the contract. He helped me with some minor repair work and I haven't had a problem since. I know that when its time for me to replace my roof I have someone that I can trust will not only give me a fair price but will get the job done right. With so many crooked contractors out there, it is a breathe of fresh air knowing that I have a trustworthy roofer. Thanks Brent!

Mountain High Roofing recently completed the installation of a new shingle roof on my house. Their personnel were professional and performed with integrity during the entire process. A few of the details of my experience are listed below. They assisted me with the roof inspection performed by my insurance company. The work was performed for the amount my insurance company paid at no cost to me, The work was performed on schedule. My old roof was stripped and the new one installed in one day. All demolition debris including all the roofing nails were cleaned up the same day that the work was completed. Their work passed the building inspection with no comments from the inspector. Mountain High Roofing followed through on all the promises their sales team made prior to performing the work. Overall, I am very pleased with the experience I had with Mountain High Roofing and would recommend them to anyone in need of a new roof.

Great job, Sonners! I had several roofing contractors come give us a bid on our roof, and Sonners got the call. As the owner of small business, myself,(construction related) I appreciate Daves professional opinions and thourogh and accurate explanations to my many questions regarding both my pitched and flat roof. His crew was prompt, diligent and thorough as well. The roofing project turned out beautifully. We are also considering getting our siding replaced and wouldn't consider calling anyone else besides Sonners when we're ready!

Had a leak around the chimney on the roof facing away from the sun... so as it snowed, snow would build there and not melt away and eventually a leak developed. Called up three roofers... first guy said "you need a new roof, $7500..." without even investigating where the leak was. Next guy, same BS... that's how I chose Roofcorp. Mike came out, spent nearly two hours with me answering all my questions... and from there I could tell he was honest, knowledgeable, and very dedicated to customer service. Needless to say it's hard to find good, reliable, quality honest work in today's world. Give these guys a shot everybody!

Top Shelf is everything I'm looking for in a contractor. Transparent, honest, fast, and reasonably priced. This type of work (roofing and exterior work) is full of less than reputable contractors. Travis and his team are the exception. Quality service at a good price. I have and will continue to recommend them to friends and family.

The Endleys father and son team recently installed Sunrise windows for us. They were friendly and courteous throughout. The work extended longer than we thought, partly because of winter weather constraints. The job was done reasonably well back in January and they addressed most minor issues. In the course of the work, some of our stone coated metal roof shingles got crumpled and bent as they and their subcontractor worked on the roof. We have informed them of the problem and we are certain they will promptly address it to our satisfaction.

Highly recommend! Hired Elevated Construction for a clean-up after a roofing company left a giant mess in our garage. Nick and Rusty arrived early, they were efficient and professional. Although this job was below their skill sets and a bigger job than anticipated, they went above and beyond to carefully clean up all the mess and put our storage items back so much better than the movers had done it! We have 35% more space after they were done! We will be having Elevated Construction back for skilled jobs- it's not easy to find a great contractor and small company in this market, and they exceeded our expectations!!

Replacing anything in your home that is as major as a roof is a big deal. The homeowner's experience will depend completely on the contractor. Mountain Trail was great to work with every step of the way. From the initial estimate to the final inspection, this company responded to all questions, and showed up when they said they would. Would gladly work with them again.

My roof was leaking into the hallway. Mark came to check it out. He did a thorough job looking in the attic and on the roof. He even too pictures so I didn't have to take his word. He suggested a patch and got the materials from his truck. He answered all my questions and told me He would come out if there are any further problems. He was polite, thorough and fixed the roof in less than an hour. I highly recommend him.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
