Dan did a great job before and during our wedding. Letting him know what songs or type of music you want played was super easy with his website.

Ashley Murray is by far my favorite makeup artist of all time. I fell in love with her and her amazing art work after I had her do my makeup for an event. I loved her so much I had her do my makeup for my wedding 7 months later. She made me feel so beautiful and gave me a nice natural glow for my big day. I love that she didn't cake on makeup, but instead she enhanced my beauty . She is so kind and pays attention to all the minor details. Her personality and passion for her work and customers is one of the many reasons why I love her so much. I would recommend her to anyone.

If you are seeking an easy-going, experienced, and highly skilled photographer, look no further. Lisa is your girl! Even before the wedding, Lisa and I were in constant communication and she was so helpful in planning the big day. On the wedding day, she was on time (early, in fact) and got right to it, doing her thing. She wasn’t intrusive or in-the-way at any time during the day. She goes above and beyond the call of duty of a photographer—she jumped right in to help me get into my gown when my maid of honor and I had troubles! Thank goodness she helped us, or else I would have looked like a stuffed olive in my gown! Finally, the quality of Lisa’s work is phenomenal and you seriously can’t put a value on the photos she produces. I know brides and grooms hear it all the time, but the wedding day truly goes by in a flash – having all of these amazing photos to look at (stare at!) bring back all the memories in a flash. I highly recommend Lisa and recommend you select her for your wedding day photography services – trust me, you will not regret it.

Lyn was amazing. We will hire here again and refer her to anyone looking for a photographer. I hired her for my daughter's wedding November 7,2015 and could not be happier. She is very patient, accommodating and creative. We were able to see a sneak peek of the wedding the same evening. As a mother you hope and pray to give your child their dream wedding. One of my concerns about the wedding was lighting since my daughter chose a backyard evening wedding the very week the time changed. Lyn came through like a trooper working with my husband who strung lights in trees and installed halogen lights all over our yard and Lyn provided her lighting. The pictures are beautiful! We can't wait for her to edit and post the remaining photos. Thank you Lyn, Mahal Photography

Ms. Jennifer is simply the BEST! I needed her help to guide me through my niece's wedding and she was simply amazing. She deserves "THE MENTOR OF A LIFETIME AWARD!. She went above and beyond to help make this occasion so special. I'm looking forward to a lifetime friendship with Jennifer. Oh! Did I mention that her prices were the most reasonable that I found. I am eternally grateful!

Allen Torres is a wonderful photographer. He and his wife photographed and video recorded my wedding in November at my parents' house and our engagement shoot at my husband's parents' house. Allen is very meticulous and he answered all of my questions before each event. He was very prompt to respond to my emails. On both occasions, Allen and Leila were early to the event and spent extra time making sure the details were precisely in order. He thought of the things that I did not have the time to plan and executed them quickly. I was very impressed with Allen's professionalism and his ability to document all of the important moments throughout the evening. He has a quiet manner which allows him to move about the event and snap all of the best shots without interfering or making people uncomfortable. I would recommend him to anyone after the service I received both before and during my wedding.

Shawn was scheduled to arrive @ 5 o'clock, The reception didn't start till 6 PM....... not only did he arrive almost an hour earlier then necessary (4 PM), he sey up and provided backgroud music for some guests that had arrived early. He came dressed apropriatly and offered to put on a suit if she prefered. He played a variety of music to keep the guests entertained. Shawn was prompt, courteous, and spoke directly with the bride so HER wishes were fullfilled. I will definately recommend him in the future and may even have the occasion down the road for another grandchilds wedding! Thank You Shawn !!

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

        What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
