I am extremely pleased with the service provided by JPMassi for my roofing needs. My tiled roof needed some repair after the storm we had last year and they were able to come the same day I called to do a thorough estimate. Jorge definitely knows what he is doing and is very technical. They were able to repair the roof the following day and took pictures before and after. The price was very fair and they were able to quickly start on the job. I will definitely use them again in the future if needed and I highly recommend them to anyone.

Luke and his staff were prompt to respond with an reasonable quote and the work was completed professionally. I will be using him again for future projects.

Marcel and team were excellent. For most roofing companies, the guy who comes out and quotes doesn't actually work on the roof. Furthermore, many roofing companies seem to cobble together crews with minimal roofing experience -- at least based on the construction mistakes on my neighbors' roofs who used other companies. It's completely differently with MAD Roofing. Marcel himself was up on the roof, and it seems like his crew is pretty experienced and professional. They answered my questions and were careful in completing the job. I will definitely try to use them again if I have another roofing job.

Bruce who's very polite and courteous came out to our property and provided a very professional and thorough evaluation of our roofing issue. We had two others out for estimates but none explained as well as he did. Additionally, his pricing was slightly better than the others.

Michael was top notch . We bought a house in need of major renovations . I had had issues with other contractors committing to do various projects and they either did not show up for scheduled work , were late or did not complete the job in a satisfactory manner . Michael handled and oversaw everything . He did my roof , installed security cameras , gave me a plumber , installed a tv mount , installed a new picture window and repaired stucco . I highly recommend him and will use him again in the future . Buyer beware of hiring handymen or other people that are not licensed or committed to doing the job to industry standards .

After Irma ripped through Florida it was very difficult to get a hold of a roofing company. The local roof companies were estimating that it would take anywhere from 1-2 months for just an estimate! I was lucky enough to put a request on thumbtack for a roofer and I was contacted by Josh from American Quality Roof Repair. He was at my house and on my roof within a couple of days to survey the damage to my roof and provided a very fair and reasonable quote. He was planning on fixing my roof that very day but did not have the right color shingle as my roof is an odd shade of green. A few days later he contacted me because he was able to get the right color shingles and we scheduled a date and time for him to make the repairs. He contacted me to let me know that he was on his way and began working on the roof as soon as he got there. The repair was done in a timely manner. I will and have recommended American Quality Roofing to my friends and neighbors for the great job they did and the timely response I was given.

Unbelievable experience from Armadillo Roofing. To be more specific Ronald one of their sales guys went over and beyond for me. I didn’t think I would get a new roof but he dealt with the insurance and got back the money to get the whole Roof done . The quality of work was amazing and fast also. I’m very happy and will recommend them in the future.

I am thorough and organized with everything I work with

We have been a Florida certified residential contractor and Florida certified home inspector since 2006. We do insurance inspections, subcontracting for citizens and nationwide insurance companies (wind mitigation, 4-point, and roof certification). We do residential and commercial inspections. We are a member of the International Association of Home Inspectors (InterNACHI).

We have been in the construction field for over 20 years. We handle all phases of construction and home repairs. By having over 20 years of experience, we have seen how houses start out from the drawing phase to the end stage. So, we definitely can handle a multitude of tasks to put the customers at ease and to also solve their problems. Of course, as with any company, we don't do everything, but what I do is I call the subs who have to handle certain things. For example, the customer has a cabinet that has a door cracked or a handle broke off, we call our guy who makes cabinets, and he can give her the top job to match up perfectly. Let's say the customer has some problem with a leaky pipe, though we can fix it, if it is extreme, we can call our plumber in. How about dump runs, painting, power washing, etc.? We do it. There is something that I definitely had to start a new paragraph on. We pride and take no prisoners on honesty and integrity. We will conduct ourselves in a professional manner at all times. We will be totally honest and show respect to all of our customers. I don't care how successful or annoying a customer can be; we will patiently and humbly deal with him or her to the best of our ability because in the end, this is what feeds the kids and pays the bills. In the end, this is what it is about success.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
