Outstanding gym and high quality personal trainers!!! Not only is Barkes Fitness a Top Notch gym, but Ben and Amanda and their staff are excellent personal trainers. Ben responded to my request within minutes even though it was after 8 pm. He got me in next day for a consultation. During the consultation, he did a great job of explaining the responsibilities of a personal trainer and the responsibilities of myself. After listening to my goals, he laid out a few plans from which I could choose. Ben is honest and very straight forward as to what it takes, in his opinion from 30 years experience, to reach the goals I was looking for. Once we got started, Ben has followed through on all his responsibilities and pushes me to meet mine. The atmosphere of the gym is that of dedication, hard work, individuality, and they definitely create a gym family environment. They have pushed me to stay committed and in only a month, I am beginning to see results. I look forward to continuing my training and enjoy seeing the gym grow. I would highly recommend Barkes Fitness as a gym and as personal trainers!
Never experienced anything like this before in a fitness Family. They care about you physically, mentally emotionally. I never feel judged about my abilities. The trainers work with you individually to get results. I have back issues and they worked my program to strengthen my back w/o feeling any discomfort while training. I have not had to use any pain meds in over 5 month because of the training from ARC. They are truly there for you any time you need them. Uplifting group of trainers. Not only do the trainers cheer on your success , but the other ARC clients cheer you on, lift you up if your down and make you feel cared about! 10 👍!!!!!!
Rich is an excellent trainer! Although I initially trained with him one-on-one for a few sessions at a fitness club, the majority of my training stemmed from participation in his 6 week boot camps. I didn't think he'd be able to work with me because of all the physical limitations I had, but he adjusted the tensity of the training to suit my individual needs. He never once made me feel like it was a chore to work with me - which was very important and impressive to a person like me who think she's "untrainable" - nor did he make me feel like I was less of a participant because I couldn't keep up with the rest of the class. He was extremely patient, very sincere, hardworking and always exhibited a positive and encouraging demeanor - all of the characteristics you'd look for and want in a true and serious personal trainer. There's no other like RIch Ford!
Bob.... What to say about Bob... Let's break it down like this. Bob's quite the outgoing person who really knows what he's talking about in terms of health and fitness. I've been through a lot of trainers in my past and haven't stuck to one beyond the first few sessions. I'm comfortable Bob knows what he's doing and has been able to help me succeed in my goals. Currently, we're using the Ketosis Diet which has quickly shown drastic results in which I am always skeptical of "diets". In any regard, Bob knows when to push and when to step back when working out. After taking some time to learn your strengths and weaknesses, he pushes the right buttons to get you to strive for the best outcome. He's good at his job and I'd recommend him to other clients and family members.

Trish does an amazing job. She changes the workout every time so you do not get bored and challenges you to improve without straining. She is professional and always on time. One of the top trainers around. I have improved tremendously under her training. Both weight loss and strength.

Excellent classes and instructors! I have been working out at Fitness Indy South since it opened and have never been disappointed. Great variety of classes for all fitness levels. I've known Steve for 6 years now. As a trainer and as a friend Steve has been a quality influence on my life as a person. He is constantly trying to better me in many different facets of life as he works to help me achieve my goals. If he feels you are wanting to go somewhere and have drive, he will invest himself fully into helping you to get there. There are 100s of gyms, and 1000s of trainers, but only one person that I would recommend to go see if you are wanting to change your life. I put him at the top of people I would recommend in the areas of health and wellness.
Stefanie is exactly what I was looking for in a personal fitness trainer. She cares. She motivates and she's a wealth of knowledge for everyone that is looking to achieve fitness goals. She is a perfect fit for me but my guess is she would be good for anyone looking to better their lives.
This is a great facility with great programs but more importantly the owners are people who truly care about you and your health and well being. They are extremely knowledgeable and will help and encourage you throughout your journey. There is no such thing as a magic pill to take to instantly become fit. You have to work out more than once and eat a balanced diet for more than a day if you want to get into shape. At the Workhorse Gym you will get sound (and certified) nutritional advice, workout advice, instruction on how to properly and safely use resistance training to really up your fat burning game, and the best darn cheerleaders ever to help motivate you when you just aren't feeling it. This is a no judgement zone and I feel perfectly comfortable pouring my lumpy, bumpy gut into spandex leggings and getting my sweat on during a cardio kickboxing class or strength training. My lumpy is going away, I'm seeing booty gains, and I can always count on Ron to see when I am about to throw in the towel and give me that last little push and voice of encouragement to make it those last 30 seconds or lift that one last heavy rep.
Greg is an excellent crossfit trainer! Makes you work hard and helps you keep going when you think you can't! Gives excellent motivation I lost over 40 lbs working with Greg. Flabby arm fat was gone and I actually had muscles I never knew I had! Gave tips on how to eat healthy to keep your energy up and your weight down! The only time I ever actually looked forward to working out was going to Greg's class. No matter how big or small you are he pushes everyone the same to their limits! Wish I was closer to join his class again!
I have had several strength training sessions with Chris and I have been impressed with both his knowledge of fitness and skill in working with me. He knows how to walk the fine line between pushing me to achieve greater than I thought I could do and yet not so much as to over do it. He is also extremely encouraging and positive minded--I have really benefitted from this as well. Overall, I am developing a renewed vision and optimism for what is possible.
