We used Derrick for a variety of services. He officiated our wedding, and provided DJ and photo booth services as well. He was very helpful with organizing and writing our ceremony, and also did great with the music throughout the evening. The only minor hiccup through the night was with the photo booth, as it was the first time they were using it, so there were some issues with it moving a little slow, but by the end of the night it was working just fine. It was really convenient to be able to work with one person for so many of our services to lessen how many people we had to work with.

We've worked with Courtney on everything from our wedding to our infant photos to our Christmas card each year. The photos have been inside with lighting, outside with props, outside without props, candids, and photojournalism style. She has a great eye and always understands exactly what we are going for in a shoot. Highly recommend.

My husband and I needed a last minute photographer for our wedding. We had a beach wedding planned in Florida, but had to change the location a few days before the wedding date due to hurricane Irma. Juliana responded to my Thumbtack inquiry right away and was very responsive. She and her husband shot our small wedding and part of our reception. I've only seen a preview of the pictures, but so far, my husband and I are beyond thrilled with the way they turned out! We couldn't be happier with the way things turned out, even if it wasn't originally planned.

He made my reception a night I will never forget and many of my guests had great things to say about his Dj skills. Thank you so much Stann for going beyond what I hired you to do! You're the best!!

When we started our DJ search we found Amanda on Thumbtack, got a quote, and met her. After meeting her, we knew instantly that we wanted her as our DJ. She exceeded our expectations and did absolutely wonderful. She played the type of music we requested, and was incredibly flexible during the reception, as we had several last second changes during the event and she was always on her toes and willing to work with us. She was so great to work with, and was extremely quick to respond to questions we had leading up to the wedding and was extremely professional at the event as well. If you get a chance to work with Amanda, DO IT! You won't regret it at all. She was great, and i would recommend her to anyone.

DJ Flawed was FANTASTIC!!! Great personality and knows how to command attention in the room. We were very excited to have Brandon DJ our wedding. It was a smaller number of people so it was very important to have someone who could still get people engaged and excited to celebrate! Brandon was great giving us suggestions for the special moments throughout the night that required music selection. We received SO many compliments on the evening and what a wonderful time people had at the reception. Thank you Brandon for helping make our night memorable!!!

Ted and his wife did a great job at my wedding reception! They are both very friendly, and it was always easy to contact Ted during the planning stages of my wedding. They are very professional, and my guests loved their photobooth! We added the memory book and video messaging options, and we were so happy with how they both turned out! Would highly recommend their business to all!

We just hired Matt for our upcoming wedding. We live out of town from where our wedding will be but Matt has been great working with us. He is one of the only photographers I've found that offers "All day coverage" and literally means ALL DAY! He is there for you on your big day and we are so happy we found Jukeboxx Media! I've already recommended him and we will continue too. Trust me, do yourself a favor and check Jukeboxx Media out.

Throughout the entire process he knew where to be, what to see, and who to photo. We met him the first time and knew we were in good hands. The wedding was outside and the reception was inside. He did an excellent job.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
