I had the opportunity to train for Kyie for well over a year. My fitness increased in a short period of time by losing weight and gaining strength. This is my second time around working with Tammy. It was about 3-4 years ago she got me in the best shape and health of my life! Battling with Rheumatoid Arthritis and on numerous medications. Somehow we powered through it all and came out on the other side stronger, healthier, 35 pounds lighter, and best off, NO MEDICATIONS or PAIN since!!!!!!!!!! As life has it, I started to slip with my routine (but still pain/medication free) so we have signed on again. This time is with my husband. He has been battling many health issues and also has an herniated disc. Tammy has been absolutely amazing in guiding him to better health and strength all the while with me working along side too. Training together has been a great, new and even fun experience for us. They always say it's best to have a work out buddy and to have that buddy be my hubby is even better! Tammy has made all the work, pain, training, and workouts somehow awesome! Her personality somehow just shines through no matter what and although some things can be difficult to push through she makes them somehow seem easier. I am forever grateful for her guidance, nurturing, education, expertise but mostly her sense of humor and friendship! I just feel there is no better way to go if you are truly serious about your health and getting fit. She is there for you ONLY as she builds what is best and safest for you and guides you step by step to getting healthier and fit THE PROPER WAY! For us, it's even sweeter as we train together at home with Tammy and the only equipment we use is our free weights, (our own body resistance) and the treadmill! :) Our sincere appreciation and gratitude to Tammy for giving us "early" fifty year olds another lease in life in getting fit and healthy. The education, proper guidance and physical fitness you gain is priceless!!!

I have been working with Nancy since mid August. Upon meeting Nancy did a complete review of my current fitness, chronic conditions that she would need to design a plan to improve and work with as well as assess my overall fitness goals. In the 2 months that we have been working together Nancy has improved my nutrition and overall fitness. I have lost close to 20 lbs, over 3% in body fat, over an inch in lost in the waist while adding muscle to my chest and biceps. Her work style is both motivating but firm. I would recommend her to all who are serious about getting in shape and positively changing your lifestyle.
Will is a phenomenal trainer and I can't say enough good things. I'm a few months in now and the whole experience has been great. At the beginning we set forth no-nonsense goals and expectations. Then he set up sessions and the workouts are no joke. He keeps you motivated and won't let you slack off. The diet advice and communication with him between workouts keep you honest. I have a very busy schedule and he's always flexible and reliable. The results in health, fitness, and weight loss are noticeable quickly. Would highly recommend him to anyone looking to get into better shape, but needs some guidance and motivation in moving forward.
She's great at what she does. My previous trainer recommended I take loads of different supplements. They all made me sick.... Mica's holistic view on health and fitness helped me get back on track without depending on artificial energy, which makes an incredible difference, not just with fitness but with my everyday routine. She's incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to how the body works!
Billy is a fantastic personal trainer. He has an impressive background with a very diverse clientele, which shows his comfortability, competency, and versatility in all different levels. He is laid-back, personable, knowledgeable, and it is clear that he has our best interests in mind - he talks to me like a real person, not a customer. He is always on-time and I never feel rushed in my work-outs (even though I’m late half the time..). Billy tailor-fits and personalizes programs to suit my needs and goals, whether it is my long term goal of body transformation, or just wanting to add more core work-outs for that particular day, for example. He is able to constitute exercises as we go, and always changes it up, which keep the sessions fun and challenging. I appreciate how he focuses on proper dieting aspects as well. Lastly, Billy is very in-depth and precise in communicating what I am doing and why. He educates you on exercise selection and order, proper form, what muscles are being targeted, etc. to maximize results, which some personal trainers don’t do. Because of this, he has instilled enough confidence in me needed to perform the exercises on my own. With a decent amount of options here on Thumbtack, I am very happy with my choice with New School Fitness and highly recommend Billy. I feel more energetic, fit, and overall healthier and happier. :)
There are not enough words to explain how happy I am to have found Sean as my personal trainer at Always Strength Fitness. I have been working with him for ~ 4 months (3X a week for 30-60 min sessions) and I don't plan on stopping (unless Sean or I leave Boston :)) I found Sean on Thumbtack (after dealing with a few terrible Thumbtack trainer) and decided to "hire" him & continue our sessions for a number of reasons: 1) Sean has an Incredible Work Ethic and is an All Around Nice Guy- Sean is fully present during our sessions (not on his cell phone or taking selfies or multi-tasking). It helps me be accountable for showing up 100% during each session so I get THE MOST out of each and every workout. 2) Deeply Knowledgeable about Fitness, how the body works/functions, dealing with previous ailments & injuries, mind-body connection, etc - I had two injuries that I was working through and serious muscle imbalances that were getting in the way of being able to advance my strength training progress. Due to our workouts, I have consistently gotten stronger mentally & physically on all levels. Every day activities like carrying my 40 lbs son down a hallway with two giant bags of groceries to doubling the # of Harvard stadium steps in 30 min vs. when I first started working with Sean-- all have seen drastic improvements (night & day) in my endurance and strength. My body is no longer breaking down because Sean is helping me regain strength where I need it, building up strength where I can, and guiding me step-by-step to be even stronger. 3) The coolest part about our workouts is how strong mentally I've grown through our sessions, which has benefits for me in all aspects of my life. When I started working with Sean, I was super insecure about my "lack of fitness, strength, and ability"-- I was never an athlete or active as a kid. Every time I work with Sean and start a new workout, I swear on my life, before the reps, that there is absolutely no way I can complete the workout that he has laid out for me. But somehow with his guidance, positive reinforcement, and million-dollar smile, I do-- even with more reps, more weight, more difficulty, etc. I find myself mentally becoming stronger with each work out and being able to apply that new mental strength to everyday stresses and challenges at work and life. 3) Convenient location & logistics - Always Strength Fitness is conveniently located in Brighton/Allston with covered parking. They have all the equipment and tools to give you a comprehensive workout, regardless of your goals. Finding a time to train with Sean was easy and he's pretty easy to get a hold of and coordinate logistics, etc week to week, which I appreciate. There are definitely so many other reasons why you should work with Always Strength Fitness-- the ones I listed above are unique to what I was looking for, which I 100% found in working with Sean. If you have other goals that maybe I didn't list in my review, I am pretty sure Sean or any of the trainers with Always Strength Fitness will find a way to help you reach them without a sweat.

I have trained with Ryan for over two years. He is an amazing trainer, very knowledgeable, caring and tough!! In addition Ryan has Doctorate in PT which makes him a very unique trainer who helped me with imbalances in my body. He also helped me stabilize and develope a strong core and overall amazing physique. I always loved to workout but Ryan took my fitness challenge to an entirely new level. His workouts are customized and very unique to my needs and requests. He never does cookie-cutter one fits all type of job. I am challenged every week with new drills and workout plan. I have never been in better shape and it all thanks to Ryan! Jim helped me feel confidant and healthy for my summer wedding! I am an exercise obsessed 27 year old. When I came to Jim I was bored of my routine and looking for an extra push to feel my best for my upcoming wedding. Jim taught me a new skill set using weights and interval cardio training. For years I was only focused on cardio, never aware of the toning and strength that weight training provides. Jim was an excellent teacher, he was flexible, knowledgable and prepared. I would recommend him to anyone no matter your needs and fitness experience.

Vahid is incredibly positive, motivating, and prepared. He arrives at each session with a new, exciting, and challenging workout that pushes me to the absolute limit of my abilities. I have made substantial improvements in my fitness over the course of my sessions with him. At the beginning of last year, for example, I could barely do a pull-up. Now I can do ten.
Danielle has been especially good at creating a program tailored to my specific needs. I have osteoporosis and previous shoulder injuries and she is well educated in these conditions. Both I and my doctors feel confident training under her supervision and have seen great improvements in my strength and overall health. I find that she is more knowledgeable than gym trainers I've used in the past and I highly recommend her.
Tom Doherty is an amazing personal trainer. Over the past 25 years, I have sought personal training expertise from at least 10 different individuals and interviewed twice as many. Sometimes, I was looking for help to tone and build strength. Other times, I was seeking a training program for a particular race or to participate in a particular athletic adventure (e.g. mountain climbing or a road bike tour). Over the years, I discovered that most trainers were basically offering the same thing, but maybe with a few different machines or a few different exercises. Tom’s skill set is one I have not come close to finding in any other professional. In addition to his bachelors degree in exercise physiology and experience working with college athletes as well as golfers, he has pursued extensive ongoing training in functional exercise and has developed a significant expertise in corrective exericse. He can recognize specific weaknesses or areas where the body is compensating for other places where it shouldn’t be. He has helped me recover from countless minor issues with pain or injury as well as significant issues with back pain which had sidelined me from most athletic activities. He loves what he does and it shows. He is funny, engaging and has a range of interests and experiences that are inspiring and thought provoking. He is knowledgeable about overall fitness as well as ultimate sports. He has raced in many marathons as well as 100+ mile team races. He is an avid snow boarder, runner, golfer and mountain bike rider. But, most importantly, professionally, he is intensely focused on each individual client’s health and well-being, paying particular attention to the person’s goals, blind spots, habits, motivations, and practices. His assessments of overall body balance, alignment and strength along with one’s injuries, pain, and endurance/fitness are targeted and informative. He educates clients about their particular body status and puts training plans together that prioritize the right set of strengthening and repair (as needed), so that whatever needs addressing first receives the right attention. He understands injuries and how other professional interventions can assist recovery (e.g. physical therapy, acupuncture, massage, etc.), so his training programs can work in conjunction with such therapies. His expertise is appropriate for those wishing to develop more elite athletic skills to those healing from injuries, eager to get back in shape. While his main client population is adults (ages 20s to 50s), he also has expertise in working with older adults and teenagers. He has had great success engaging older adults who may have lifelong habits, practices or injuries that need repair and correction along with light education. His training programs are targeted for the appropriate strength, mobility and capacities of the older individual. On the other end of the spectrum, he is a fabulous trainer of adolescents, girls and boys, understanding the different body types, developmental issues and appropriate training guidelines that can help educate young people about their own bodies as well as about their fitness capacities and goals. I highly recommend Tom as a personal trainer for these many different populations and targeted needs. He excels in this profession he loves. He is far more sophisticated than most “standard” personal trainers. He is committed to what he does and to ongoing learning about new developments and approaches in his various areas of expertise. Clients will learn far more than they might have imagined in their work with Tom Doherty.

Emily is one of the best trainers out there! She is extremely professional and knowledgeable. When I first found her, she had me set long term and short term fitness/health goals and made sure I did not slack on them. She held me accountable and doesn't put up with any excuses, (which is something you want in a trainer, trust me!) I was originally 150 pounds and my goal weight was 135, I can officially say that I have not only reached my goal but ALSO maintained the weight. Emily knows her stuff, she is very educated about the human body and personal training. She also has her yoga certification, which also helped during training because she helped improve my flexibility. If anyone is looking for a personal trainer/yoga instructor, this is the gal to go to. She is also quick to respond and is punctual. I would definitely 100% recommend her to anyone, she is FABULOUS. :)
