Storm Group was fantastic to work with! They worked with me to get my roof done for a quick sale of my house and went above and beyond expectations. They came in right on their initial estimate which. Was extremely competitive, had professional staff and even set up a meeting with the new buyers of my house to go over the process and ensure them of the quality of work. Will was very responsive and helped me get through a very stressful house closure and I’d highly recommend working with him and Storm Group Roofing!!

Jason came out to look at our roof when several neighbors were going with a large "storm chaser" roofing company that was working our neighborhood. He was very honest and told me that our roof did not have significant damage and was not in need of replacement at this time. He was great and I know who I will be coming back to when we really are ready for a roof. Thanks Jason!

Donovan came out right away to seal some vents on my roof. While he was on the roof, he let me know of a few other things that needed some work. He did the extra work at no extra charge. He was very friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend him for your roofing needs!

My husband and I are extremely pleased with the work that Primo Restoration and Construction has provided for us. After meeting with a few other roofing contractors, I trusted and knew that Primo would be the right company for us. Juan Baltazar did an amazing job working with us and spent extra time meeting with our insurance adjuster, which was greatly appreciated. He made sure that we went into the job with no questions in our mind of the whole process and what was to be expected in the end. He took extra time to explain things, offered suggestions and opinions when they were asked and made sure that everything was done to our expectations. They finished the roof project ahead of schedule, the crew did excellent work, and everyone was very pleasant, considerate and professional. We are very happy with our new roof, it looks fantastic!

Hired to do insulation and some roof work. The insulation truthfully made zero difference in the comfort of my home, but I think that's more my house than their work. They were competitive in pricing, on time, knowledgeable, and followed up in a timely manner. Overall a pleasant experience and I would hire them again.

Thorough and honest bid. Mark pointed out a couple things about the previous shingles and roof design (two vent systems cancelling each other out) that other contractors didn't point out. The singles that were on our house had a class action lawsuit and Carroll's Exterior helped file the claim for us. Installers were great and the roof looks amazing!

Very impressed with the work. They helped us fight for a new roof with our insurance company, and were not willing to back down as other contractors had done. Would definitely recommend!

We’ve had Home Pro America provide service with several projects. After this last one we agreed to share our experience in this review of their work. We had an issue with ice dams, and had Home Pro out, their recommendations for air sealing, insulation and ventilation were a little more than we were planning to spend. We had another contractor out and for the attic air sealing, they recommended all the existing insulation be removed to seal the attic. We ended up hiring Home Pro and saved more than $1,000. We’ve since had our roof done and gutter covers installed. We would highly recommend Home Pro America.

I can't say enough about Adam's speedy replies to my emails, and his thoroughly professional demeanor. Although I ultimately chose a different contractor for my small project (someone closer to my home), I wouldn't hesitate to contact Adam for future projects. Highly recommend that you contact him for a bid when you need a real pro.

Joe was great to work with. He is upfront and honest about the project and went the extra mile in helping me with every step of the process. His crew cranked out the roof in one day and did a fantastic job. Overall I would highly recommend Joe!

Michael at Affordable Roofing was fantastic. I was in a very unique situation where my home sold In 24hrs and the buyer requested a quick close (15 days) unfortunately, it rained 12 days straight in October with winter quickly approaching. I was very nervous, but Michael assured me things would be fine. With closing on Friday afternoon at 3pm, Michael and crew showed up on Thursday morning 6am and knocked the job out. The crew worked hard while accommodating my moving crew. To my surprise the roof was finished Friday at 11am. The roof passed inspection and the new homeowner loved the color recommended by Michael. Affordable Roofing will always be my go to for any roofing needs.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

      • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
        • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
      • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
      • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
      • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
      • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
